Is Darth Vader too far?

So I changed my avatar to Darth Vader as you can see. I have seen like every star wars character used on here, but never Vader.

I do not want to be Vader. My character's reasoning is his desire to bring back the Sith from old. His love for the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic so he took his armor idea from Vader, but made it his own by putting Beskar under it.

My OOC reasoning is the Sith Lords on this board, well any master rank, can be a bit overpowered, myself included. Vader though was a powerful sith lord, but he was never overly so so this is my commitment to that ideal.

Even with this reasoning, do you think this is going to far?

You should try Tulak Hord's armor. Stylish as hell!

But yeah, Vader's armor is a unique outfit, unlike Revan's, which could be created by anyone. It's just a salvaged Mandalorian mask. But Vader's suit was specifically designed just for him. Anyway, just do what you like most.

How doesn't it fit? I think it reflects his desire to be like the Sith of old and to bring back a lot of things like at at and at st (fix them legs though) there are others I could choose from, had Revan, but everyone uses that. I have never seen an active Vader playby in here.

You appear to be against this decision in your OP. It doesn't matter though, you're free to appear as Vader if you want. I figured the fact that this discussion was brought up was probably because there was some uncertainty/conflict behind the decision.

Well my in character daugther is against it so I was questioning.

I like it, I say I don't want to be vader as in run around being him. Still original, just a salute and throw back.

I think it's fine to use Vader's armor style, and even go so far as to have IC knowledge or reason behind it. There's no reason a person who shares the sentiment and ideals of the old-new Empire wouldn't model their own image after that of their idol/forefather/etc. That would indeed resurrect and help reinforce the the image of the former Empire.

Keep in mind that most of Vader's armour was tailored around the fact that he was missing limbs and had substantial burns across most of his body, facilitating the need for a closed atmosphere and a respirator. Aside from the kind of 20th-century-German looking helmet, the mask and the cloak, the rest of your armor could reasonably be whatever you wanted.

What I wouldn't mind seeing is a gender-bent Vader. XD

his armor is beskar with corotsis on the joints. Over laying it all is black cloth for cosmetic purposes to make it look right. So he looks un armored, but there is beskar underneath.

[member="Darth Vaildra"], To me, Vader is a very well known Sith Lord. I don't like using images from Canon sources just because in this "New star wars" Everything should be more advanced to some degree. Sure I do use some images for armor or for a lightsaber, but that is purely cosmetic and because it looks good. However, using the face claim of literally the most well known character from a series is something I don't like to do.

If you were to use an image of vader, find something where its still under the guise and looks like inspiration from Darth Vader, but not quite him. I have seen a multitude of images that look alot like the Sith, but are different either by the way the armor is made, or simply done in a different fashion. So I personally would do something to use one of those images instead of the one you are using now.

And Two questions, How do you fit all of that hair into that helmet? and secondly Why use Sephiroth as your playby? I mean don't we already have one of the guys on the site? *Ahem* [member="Darren Shaw"] *Ahem*

I kid, honesty i don't care if you use him.

[member="Xander Carrick"]

His hair is shorter now, he looked like Sephiroth back in his 20s. Now he looks like Garalt. Also, not sure because I see a lot of sephiroths around, but pretty sure I used it first back in 2014. I could be wrong, it has been a long time. I personally don't know how to make signatures to change my current one. Isn't there a Jedi master in the republic who used Thor first? We could go all day with ,"well someone else uses blank." Fact of the matter is someone is eventually going to copy someone, but rarely is it intentional. My opinion, hey there is someone who likes a character you like. Neither of you have claim so just be friends.

End of the day we are here for fun and to relax.

[member="Darth Vaildra"] - In our timeline it's been hundreds of years since The Chosen One existed as "Darth Vader". So no. You won't have a problem IC looking like Vader at all. Given that 100% of the people you encounter outside of a Sith cult will have any idea of what fashion statement you're going for. Nah. You'll just be a dude, wearing black, with a fetish for weird masks. (Which, is pretty much how one would describes any Sith Lord these days really.)

And since being garbed in a 100% beskar throw-back antique doesn't make you stronger in the Force, better at PvP, or violate a single rule on this website? ...No. It won't be an OOC problem either.

Go nuts! All you baby! :D :p

Here are some Darth Vader redesigns, in case you want the old flair, but a new, fresh look. :)

I think it should be against the rules to use a canon character for avatar. I mean.... the lack of imagination... geeee.... ;)

IMO - Darth Vader is THE sith. It is actualy strange (from an IC perspective) that not more are trying to mimic him in appearance. The avatar sends a signal about your characters persona, and if you are looking to create an "image" leaning toward the classical sith role of the films, Darth Vader is an excellent choice.
I see no problem with it.

Those pics are awesome. I am gonna steal one of em for my own future sith

Seriously, I thought using modified versions first. Only down side is if I found one I liked, that was it, no other drawings of that version. I like options.

I'm going to pretend anyone here cares what I say.

From a OOC perspective: Using quite literally the absolutely best known Star Wars character in history basically screams out: "I absolutely have no creativity nor my character is any distinct from your generic, run of the mill Sith Lord and this probably translates into poor roleplaying ability."

From a IC perspective: We tend to conflate Darth Vader being an absolutely terrifying and interesting character from a outside point of view, with him being viewed similarly in the same in the grand scheme of Star Wars history. In reality, Darth Vader would likely be viewed as nothing but a failure of a chosen one, manipulated by Palpatine and then chopped into pieces which forever ensured he would be nothing but a brutish enforcer under the thumb of Palpatine, the exact antithesis of the rise-to-power-freedom-kark-yeah philosophy of the Sith. Makes little sense for your Sith Emperor to emulate the apprentice of an actually 'great' Sith Ruler.

Edit: One that turned traitor, nonetheless.

Edit 2: Now that I think on it even more, the suit itself probably sends a negative message. It was literally a walking symbol of Vader's failures to defeat Obi-wan and how he had become crippled to the extent of having to rely upon an artificial machine to perform even the most basic of tasks. It would be somewhat akin to flaunting a crutch.
