I just got accosted by the police for taking a walk to the local gas station! For a soda!

This is the third time in a month!

I've got to get the hell out of the freaking suburbs...

Depends on where you live. One of the places I used to live was a college town, it was unusual to not see someone walking somewhere. Where I live now, there are a few areas people walk but not many so stops are more common.

I've never seen someone stopped by the police unless they were speeding, driving drunk, etc. I, personally, have never had any problems with the police, but I'm just one person. I'm sure it depends on where you live, who the police are, etc.

Getting stopped and questioned by police, for a variety of reasons, is just a part of life. It will happen to almost everyone at least once. Unfortunately we live in a society where everyone wants to win the gold medal at the Oppression Olympics.

As long as you act smart and choose to cooperate, you will have nothing to worry about.

Its happened to me a lot. Like a WHOLE LOT when I was younger. (then again I was a long-haired teen wearing leather, chains, fingerless gloves, glaring at the world telling it they could %@&# off with my eyes.) I couldn't even go walk down the hall with at least one person wondering if I was going to start something. Which I wouldn't...... but I assure you I would finish whatever someone started upon me.

That probably isn't worth much since people would start fights we me all the time in high school. I didn't go looking for trouble, it was more like somehow trouble found me. I know.... I know.... doesn't sound too believable, but its the truth. When I got into college I started listening to classical music, meditating more, and ditched some (but not all ) of my chains and leather. The result? I haven't been in a fist fight in 3 months.

Just my personal experience.

Whoa... This was mostly a thoughtless, offhanded venting post. I didn't think it would get traction.

[member="Braith Achlys"] -- I wouldn't even call it a "problem with the police", really. It just sucks getting stopped and occupied on a very cold night.

[member="Greifen Ren"] -- That was what I was thinking, so I just tried to be helpful and honest. I think I may have ended up sounding a bit sassy or snarky towards the end, which clearly upset the guy in the second car.

[member="Kei Amadis"] -- Their claim was that somebody saw me crossing a main road at night and got nervous. It was garbage, because no houses had a view that close to the nearby highway. I just figured that the macho super-cop saying that he was nervous wouldn't fly for him and his buddy.

[member="Akio Diachi "] -- I didn't feel like I was being threatening, though. The scariest part of my look was just a black scarf. Maybe they thought I was a comic book villain?
