"As the firepower equipped to a droid increases, the number of social situations it is incapable of solving approaches zero."

ISI/MSSP: "Multi-Spectrum Sensor Package." An exhaustive array of powerful sensors. These were ideal both for scouting enemy positions and conducting entire regional surveys. Very little could escape detection by an Eques unit, barring the use of something akin to a stygium cloaking device.
ISI/ALA: "Advanced Layered Armor." An upgraded version of the armor system employed by the Centurion-series. This variant employed a trimantium-hexalloy composite and high-quality armorweave. The result could turn away blaster bolts, vibroweapons, ballistics, and even lightsabers.
ISI/MSTC: "Multi-Spectrum Targeting Computer." A dedicated targeting computer which relied on data collected from the Eques' sensor package. It allowed the Eques to attack targets which were fast-moving or at long ranges while maintaining a good accuracy.
ISI/CILP: "Cold Iron Learning Package." A highly adaptive programming package produced by Iron Sun Intelligence. The version utilized by the Eques was a library assembled from the tactics and training of select artillerists and scout troopers from the Dark Empire's Stormtrooper Corps, as well as carefully curated flash-memories from veteran personnel.

[ + ] Heavy Fire Support: The Eques' powerful ion disruptor was capable of scything down large groups of infantry and threatening light vehicles. Robust defenses allowed it to withstand a great deal of light arms fire.
[ + ] All-Seeing: A comprehensive array of sensors and scanners allowed the Eques to act as a scout, spotter, and sniper for the infantry it was embedded within. It could also function as an independent probe or surveillance droid, rooting out insurgents and hidden bases where deployed.
[ - ] Front Towards Enemy: Power restrictions meant that the deflector shield was strongest in the direction the droid was facing, leaving the sides and back more vulnerable.
[ - ] Take Your Time: Although equipped with repulsors, the Eques was noted for only ever moving at a leisurely pace. It was very heavy and not particularly maneuverable.

The Imperial Combat Droid Mk. III, also known as the Eques-series, was the fourth droid model released by Iron Sun Intelligence.
Probe droids were an Imperial mainstay for quite some time, being used to surveil planets for disloyal activity. Droidekas were of such notable efficacy during the Clone Wars that the nascent Empire brought them into service alongside their Stormtrooper Corps. The Eques was an attempt to condense both roles into a single unit.
The result was effective in both roles, but hideously expensive. Eques units did not see widespread use until Iron Sun Intelligence began manufacturing stripped-down variants. Some models had their planetary sensor equipment removed to focus on military applications, others were disarmed and relegated only to civilian use. It was only then that the Eques saw proliferation among the various Imperial remnants still haunting the Braxant Run and the Tingle Arm.
Unlike other Iron Sun models, the Eques communicated exclusively through droid binary. It was theorized that restricting their ability to verbalize would reduce the likelihood of emergent "personalities" developing. Instead, aberrant Eques units rationalized that speaking anything other than droid binary was beneath them. Units which did not receive memory wipes became condescending and waspish.
This had little impact on their efficacy, only how generally difficult they were to be around. Any misadventures or malfunctions which resulted from the emergent "personality" were not covered by Iron Sun Intelligence's warranty agreements. Customers were advised to regularly memory wipe their combat droids.
