  • INTENT: To create the well-known hyperdrive used in most IST ships
  • IMAGE SOURCE: HERE - modified by Mithias
  • CANON LINK: N/A
  • PERMISSIONS: N/A
  • PRIMARY SOURCE: CHD-01-Chiss Hyperdrive

COMPONENTS
3t2X20z.gif

  • Due to IST building ships the size of starfighters all the way to battlecruisers, the Vigilante can be built to spec for nearly any ship it produces
  • The Vigilante hyperdrive model was designed from the bottom up to perform as a reliable, dependable, yet very fast hyperdrive. It possesses all the safeguards needed to ensure safe operation, including a casing that allows for emergency ejection in the case of imminent hyperdrive meltdown
  • While based on the Chiss CHD-01, IST engineers took the HD-112's performance a bit further to allow for accurate microjumps. The capacitors handle these jumps with ease, but cannot perform them one after the other without stressing the system.
STRENGTHS
  • Feeling the Need for Speed: The whole reason the hyperdrive was developed was its cap on its speed. IST restructured the components to allow for speeds far faster than x1. While this increased the cost to produce the hyperdrive a great deal, the need for the greater speed for the Interstellar Shipping shipping fleet spurred the innovation.
  • Old Reliable: The HD-112 is used in every ship in Interstellar Shipping's fleet. The hyperdrive was designed to be extremely reliable, smoothly undergoing a number of jumps each delivery. With so many ships using this hyperdrive day after day, IST engineers have been able to tweak and make small adjustments to the hyperdrive, allowing for an extremely pleasing track record.
WEAKNESSES
  • Micro Mistakes: Excessive use of microjumps in succession will result in hyperdrive meltdown, which will require ejection of the entire unit to avoid ship destruction. There needs to be at least 10 minutes that pass before attempting another microjump.
  • You Qualified on That Device?: Maintaining the HD-112 requires specialized hyperdrive mechanics, specialized parts, and a great deal of credits. While the hyperdrive can have repairs and maintenance performed very quickly, it requires specialized parts, equipment, and knowledge specific to the HD-112 hyperdrives.

Interstellar Starship Technologies started its business within the Chiss Ascendancy. Lucky enough to gain a lucrative contract from the Chiss Ascendancy in special shipbuilding contracts, many of those earlier ships utilized the Chiss CHD-01 hyperdrive thanks to Malicar Raith's relationship with the Aristocra in charge of such things. This allowed IST engineers to circumvent the protocols that prevented reproduction of the hyperdrive. Instead of scanning the hyperdrives, IST engineers reproduced each part, piece by piece. Before IST began to pull away from those large contracts, they had their own version of this hyperdrive. The hyperdrive was easily the most important component of starships in the Interstellar Shipping fleet. It was necessary to design a hyperdrive that would allow for the fastest shipping fleet in the galaxy. As such, the HD-112 "Vigilante" Hyperdrive as kept in mind for every single ship design.

Alright, all told a very solid sub, and my goodness I kinda felt my eyes roll back in my head cause of all the links. But hey, can't fault you for not enough detail, right?

First comment I'd make is that the hyperdrive's ability to make precise microjumps is something that really warrants a spot on the strengths section, as that gives someone using this particular module a HUGE advantage in fleet combat.

Second, and this is the more important one, I see you have two modules listed from the good ole Roble Manufacturing catalogue. Given that both of the subs in question are listed as "Closed Market" affiliation, I will need you to get proof of purchase/permission from the original author, and link it under Permissions at the top of the form. (Easiest way to do this is to just screencap a conversation of you asking permission to use it, upload it to Imgur, and link to that).

Otherwise, once you get those two points taken care of I can kick this up to mentor approval!

Kyyrk Kyyrk Thanks for the review! I had Roble's junk on there? Shame on me. I jettisoned those parts off the sheet.

Also, I made a hard time limit on the microjumps in the second disadvantage. So while they are accurate, they have a time limit between each.

Adding more weaknesses is all well and good, but the intent was to add a reference to the precision of the micro jumps in the strengths section.

Also, I would ask that you refrain from belittling other writers and calling their subs "junk."
