The hum of the engines slowly faded, replaced by the rustling of leaves and the distant chirping of fauna. The loading ramp lowered with a soft hiss, and Romi stepped onto the lush green ground, her boots making a faint crunching sound on the gravel path. She could see Valery waiting, and that brought a smile to her face.
Taking in a deep breath of the crisp, fresh air, Romi felt a sense of tranquility settle over her. She allowed herself a moment to relish the feeling of being away from the constant demands of the Jedi Order. It was as if the very atmosphere of this place whispered promises of respite and connection. She had only ever felt like this when she went home to visit her own family, so feeling this here with Valery and her family made so much sense.
As Romi started for the home, she became aware of movement at the edge of her vision. Her gaze shifted to the side, and a soft smile tugged at her lips as she spotted a young girl approaching. With each step, the child's dark hair danced in the breeze, her eyes sparkling with an innocent curiosity that only a child could possess, and striking just like her mothers.
Vera.
Romi's heart warmed as she recognized Valery's daughter, a reminder of the life that existed beyond the battles and trials of a Jedi Master. Vera's presence was a testament to the resilience of those who dared to live fully even in the face of the galaxy's challenges.
Vera stopped a short distance away from the bottom of the ramp, her eyes locked onto Romi's with a mixture of awe and excitement. Her small hands fidgeted by her sides, fingers curling and uncurling as if unsure of what to do. And then, with a burst of determination, Vera took a step forward, her gaze unwavering.
Romi's heart swelled with affection for this young girl who embodied hope and possibility. She crouched down to Vera's level, their eyes meeting on equal terms.
"That was the most bestest welcome ever Vera, thank you! Are you gonna show me around?" Romi held up her pinky finger, hoping to curl it around Vera's should she want to lead.
She stood up and leaned into her friends embrace.
"Val...thanks for having me." She just released herself into her friends hold.
"It wasn't to bad honestly," She glanced over to Vera,
"Tea and snacks sounds pretty good." She trailed the Keshian inside the home.
