Darth Timoris

To err is human, to forgive divine. And I'm no god
talisman_of_finding_opress_by_corvusraaf-d8ldu79.jpg

Melori gravitated to the archives. Training was limited due to the problems with the Force and there was only so much of Coruscant you could see without becoming bored. So finishing one of her morning runs, she headed to where the remainder of the Jedi Archives were housed.

There was little of importance here really that hadn't been dissected and analysed by greater brains then hers - but it was a place where she could learn about the Sith from a different perspective - the Jedi's. And more and more she'd focused on one individual that the Light-sided fools focused on more than most - Darth Maul. She admired his focus - his singular hatred of the Jedi and his determination to live despite the odds. As someone who'd endured a six-year coma, she felt she could relate to him.

So she read all she can and every now and then came across a loose end that she would follow to either a cul-de-sac or a new opportunity. So she sat in the former First Hall that contained great records on the history of the Republic and perused personal journals of one particular Jedi - Luke Skywalker - who seemed to have a penchant for taking things that rightfully belonged to the Sith.

The pale-skinned Acolyte ambled into the room were the remnants of the Jedi archives were kept. She hated it, the mere thought of her feet touching the same floor as the Jedi was enough to disturb her...yet, there was a reason she was here for and it was for research. It was no surprise that her curiosity, her unquenchable thirst for knowledge was able to take her anywhere, even if doing so made her feel like destroying the very same area.

She was here because she wanted to know what did the Jedi know about them. Odds were that this type of archives had been already removed by more expert scholars and researchers but not everyone was as observant as her....maybe something had been left behind, something for her to find.

She paced further into the room and the objective of her attention and curiosity was momentarily changed to the young woman who had just recently appeared in her line of sight despite the fact of having sensed her when she entered the room. She looked into the eyes of the young woman of golden hair without blinking for several seconds, her stare was strong and cold yet the interest she had was also readable in her white orbes.

She searched in the new-found person and read her intentions, she was also looking for something, doing research, "What is it that you are looking for?" Her tantalizing and hypnotic snake-like voice spilled from her lips, for the moment lacking the typical mischievous tone in it for she was intent in getting an answer.

Darth Timoris

To err is human, to forgive divine. And I'm no god
Melori knew few Sith – and they came in various stripes. Some hated the Sith – as she did whereas others simply didn’t understand them and saw them as an enemy just because they were told to. And others simply found their presence unnatural and wished to obliterate their existence for that very reason. As she looked up, she wondered which category this fellow Acolyte fell in to.

Maybe she fell into the latter category as she seemed uncomfortable to be here. They made eye contact and Melori’s baby blues showed she was not in contact with the Force – but could not fathom if the other girl was.

Melori nodded an acknowledgement as they'd met on Eclipse and they were at least on speaking terms. She was still surprised by the question however. On face value it was innocent enough – no doubt exchanged tens of thousands of time today in libraries on every planet. But Melori was still guarded. The concept of friends was alien to her here. She’d had plenty of acquaintances on Corellia – but none she would trust with a secret and that was her definition of a friend.

But, if nothing else, she would need allies in her new life and the best way to find out if someone is trustworthy or not was to see how they acted. “My knowledge of Sith Lore is weak and I’m choosing a different Lord each time and researching their life. But I keep coming back to one for some reason. Darth Maul. His life was…complicated. He was written off as dead. A bit like me, and so I seem drawn to him in some way. And I’ve discovered a curious thing. That some time Dark Jedi Luke Skywalker stole something of Maul’s. The records show he took it to Yavin IV where it was analysed but then it disappeared. Now we know of his affinity to Kenobi and so he would be likely to hold on to something like that. And we know that later Skywalker went to Ossus – so I’m betting if we look hard enough, we’ll find some reference to it there. Imagine,” her eyes danced as she spoke, “Presenting an item of historical importance to our Masters? It’s a talisman, so look for references of that or a locket…”

[member="Syss Rembala"]

She limited herself in order to not indulge for long in the young woman's mind simply because she didn't liked asking stupid, meaningless questions and inquiring about something she would have otherwise discovered by doing so would mean having asked a stupid, meaningless question. She recognized the Acolyte, for they had met before in Eclipse. Her interest in her had not diminished that much but now other matters had her interest, matters that seemed to coincide with the interests of @Meori Raaf.

"I must admit that the information you have on this said talisman is....riveting." Her tongue slithered the words. It was a very...tempting proposal, it was true that their Masters would be pleased but she was more allured to it because it would mean an useful finding for the One Sith. Even in the case that serving the Sith was not enough, which was not, she was very keen of studying the past of the Sith, that meant that the fact this object had once belonged to Darth Maul also called to her intellectual side.

"I'll start searching for the information we need..." she concluded some seconds after and turned walking some meters away from the fellow Acolyte to look in a different part of the shelf

Melori was surprisingly pleased to have an ally in this search, so she nodded when Syss suggested helping. The other Acolyte had a similar interest in the artefact it seemed and having met her before, she appeared someone who was destined to progress through the ranks - and Melori saw this as an opportunity to have a fellow Sith she could rely on in the future.

Plus, if her guess was correct, she would need help in bringing the item back to Coruscant.

“The trail is officially cold but every reference to the thief points to Ossus, so that’s where I’m focusing my efforts. Maybe he had a special place there he might have hidden it?” It was a lead she’d been following but hadn’t turned anything up as yet.

[member="Syss Rembala"]

Her colorless eyes were analyzing a page, moving from side to side reading at a speed that would have made most believe she was not actually reading, she appeared to do everything swiftly. Her eyes froze, she stopped reading when the other Acolyte said that their best chance at finding the talisman would be at Ossus.

The little information she herself had collected pointed towards said planet also and although she usually neglected leaving things unfinished, in this case, not checking everything for information, it seemed that little or none difference would be made by finishing so she spoke, without turning to the other Acolyte, "Then we must make haste, I wouldn't like this filthy....creatures to get their hands on what belongs to the Sith" It was terrifying how her features darkened and her voice hollowed and froze when speaking about the Jedi and the Republic. She had heard they were about to land on Ossus and despite the fact that she would love to stay there and try to destroy them it would be...counterproductive, to put it somehow.

She finally turned and walked towards the other Acolyte, a devilish smirk decorating her pale face.

Melori was pleased how fast the pace was picking up. “Then we’re decided. We can do further research en-route if need be, but I suspect we’ll be well served checking out the less obvious places. It’s clear the Jedi have no idea what they have under their noses, or we’d have heard about it. So it must be well hidden.”

She wrinkled her nose, “But I know something about hiding things and enough about the Jedi and their ways to know where to look. And as long as we get there before the Jedi scum we should be able to have some fun too!” There was clear delight in her voice at the prospect of causing mayhem at the Ossus Academy.

Melori wasn’t sure how much of her past to reveal just yet - especially as she’d witnessed first hand how much Syss hated the Jedi - although hers was less personal an issue.

“One thing, though. Do you have access to a ship?”

[member="Uri Aureleos"] | [member="Drapeam Nyx"] | [member="Syss Rembala"]

The pale skinned Acolyte listened to her as she spoke, this one was growing in the Umbaran, there was something about her that simply drove Syss' curiosity on complete overdrive, "I would be lying if I said I wouldn't like to...well, casually stumble upon some lowlife beings" She said, as opposed to the hollowed voice when speaking about them, speaking about fighting them made her sound happy, even a tinge of euphoria hidden for the ones who were attentive listeners.

The smirk on the face of the Umbaran extended onto a full grin when asked if she had access to a ship, "Well that depends on what you mean by having access to...If we speak in my terms though, we have access to any ship" She said, Syss had learned a thing or two about space shifts and although she was no expert, she knew how to fly one...and how to get into one that was not hers, "Only if you are willing of course" She said, Syss didn't have any problem in getting involved in criminal activities, such as stealing a ship, but she wouldn't take the risk of the plan failing if the blonde human was made nervous by the scenario.

To err is human, to forgive divine. And I'm no god
Melori grinned. It wasn’t a smile; it was an expression of joy that owed all of its emotional drivers to entirely wicked thoughts.

Merlori’s relationship with her Master was complex. She rules her but she also loves her. Wherever possible, Melori kept the two aspects to her sister separate. In training she was her Master. In private she was her big sister. But at moments like these she was both. Should she tell her Master what she was about to do? And what about her sister?

As Melori has grown, so Taeli’s confidence in her has too. The younger sister stands by her side, but slightly behind, in her shadow. And already she was starting to find it a little challenging. Mostly she was content there. She still had much to learn. Taeli sees weakness and exploits them. She senses anger and inflames it. Her vision takes in a galaxy, with its multitude of planets and governments. The complexity doesn't intimidate her. So Melori decided not to tell her Master or her sister. Let their prize be a welcome surprise when they return with it.

Melori looked out of the window. It was her favourite time of day, when the last gasp of the strangled setting sun sent crimson flashes like splashes of blood off the millions of windows and metallic ships.

And it was a ship they needed and Syss would be able to provide that it seemed. “Am I willing? Of course. But if we’re going to steal one, let’s at least make it a decent one. We shall one day rule the galaxy, let’s start by making a statement of our intent, yes?” And she gathered up her belongings and looked to follow her fellow Acolyte out of the library.

[member="Syss Rembala"]

She couldn't help but delight in the emotions that came off the blonde haired human. Her father, the being she loved and hated the most, had taught her that nothing had more power than an angry enemy and nothing gave her more power than her own anger. She could see that many things regarding the Sith made the other Acolyte feel conflicted and she should have disliked her for it, for doubting her course of action or the words she would speak regarding the Empire but in her case, there was so much being that conflict, that uncertainty turned the irritation of the Umbaran into interest.

She had never had any friends, she didn't need friends but in their world, where Acolytes kill each other whenever the same room they are in is left without witnesses that could accuse them of their crime, having an ally that helped not only to protect yourself but to wipe off the path anything...or anyone that crossed it didn't sound like a bad idea. Actually, it would help them both become Sith one day maybe even sooner than they expected.

"I wouldn't agree more..." She said and grinned as she started to walk with [member="Melori Raaf"] out of the library, "I suppose that by now the engineers have finished their work and are abandoning the hangars, most of the pilots must have already left unless they depart at night, I suggest that we commandeer one of the ships that are supposed to take off soon, that way we'll be sure they are ready to depart and we won't face any unexpected contretemps" She finished.

Darth Timoris

To err is human, to forgive divine. And I'm no god
Melori could sense a joint purpose developing here. Not a friendship, not in the sense that others would consider it, but someone that – in time – would watch her back and she would do likewise. At least until the point came that one stood in the way of the other. Then it was every Sith for herself. But today was certainly not that day.

“I was hoping for something in black, but style will trump colour preference I suspect. Oh and speed, it has to be quick – the Jedi will be looking to get their claws back into Ossus as soon as they can.”

She looked to Syss and smirked. “And I have a good confession to make. I have studied Ossus and its layout, so we won’t be going in blind.” She would not share why she’d taken such an interest in the place – one that bordered on the obsessional. Not today for sure.

“But I for one and looking forward to some unexpected contretemps!” Her eyes flashed yellow as she said it before returning to their usual blue hue.

Melori waited for her accomplice and grew impatient. She scanned the ships at the local space-port. And then she saw it - Raven. Her sister must have had it repaired and brought here. As she wandered over, she was challenged by one of the ground-crew.

"That's a Sith ship, off limits," he said with as much authority in his voice as he could muster.

Melori smiled and pulled gently at the Dark-side of the Force. Her sister had warned her against actually using it - but this was by no means an attempt to do anything with it. Her eyes morphed from their usual baby-blue to yellow instantly and then, letting go of the Force, they changed as quickly back.

The man held up his hands and stuttered an apology, "I-I-I'm sorry. F-forgive me."

She dismissed him with a wave of the hand. "I'm leaving now, have it prepped."

He nodded, "The astro-droid is still on-board."

She narrowed her eyes - she wanted to have it removed and ripped apart for scrap but she knew that it was another link to her sister. If things went badly on Ossus, it might yet prove useful. So she simply nodded and strode onto the ship. It had been stripped of all traces of her sister and was now simply another Corvette. Another Republic Corvette. Another Corvette only issued to the Jedi. She smiled at the irony of her own sister's ship providing the perfect cover for landing at her precious Academy.

So she fired up the engines and once in position set the hyperspace coordinates for Ossus.

They had asked for volunteers. How... odd. All they had to do was raise the flag and their people would come rushing forward. Instead the had gone about it slowly. Softly. We are hoping to reclaim Ossus and the academy present there. There is now a need for scouts. This is a volunteer-only mission. They had been rather polite about it. As expected that wasn't even necessary. Quite a few people offered up their services within the hour. A certain ex-Imperial was among them. Why? She was, first and foremost, a member of the Protectorate. Only in the past few months had she even started to consider the Order somewhat of a home (even then, it felt more like a hotel than a house). Why, then, did she step forward to assist a government she had once hated?... The answer was deceptively simple. Our horrid little darling felt the world tugging at her heart strings. Oh, yes, the woman had started to fall in love. Such a thing had been something she usually tried to ignore. But a certain brunette had forced her way into the stone-girl's heart. She had supported the Zorren from the very start, helping heal her, personally working to remove the poison from her veins in-

Hmm? What's that now?... Oh! You thought that we were talking about Corvus Raaf? How silly!

No, we're speaking of the mildly eccentric Doctor, Lydia Rozalia Stone. A darling of a woman who was only a few years younger than Nyx herself (who was deceptively old). The Jedi Master had disappeared- or been 'Raptured', depending on who you asked- and had yet to return. Up until the nightmarish summoning to hell she had been working on Ossus. That's how she met her patient! Stone had been one of the first to talk to the older lassy, helping her start the extensive treatments she required. Over nearly half a year they had grown fairly close. Neither had actually admitted their feelings (even to themselves or their friends). It had, however, become quite clear that both felt some sort of connection to the other. Whether this was a romantic one or a very strong platonic one was yet to be determined. And if Stone wasn't found soon... then it may never be. Which was what brought the obnoxious sniper to Ossus.

Quietly Drapeam Nyx checked her gun one last time, patiently waiting for the shuttle to make it's landing. Most of the others were acting similarly, though a couple were chatting softly in the back. The air was undeniably tense. Nothing like it usually was around here... Don't worry, Stone. If there's any trace of where you went... I'll find it. If only she knew.

To err is human, to forgive divine. And I'm no god
Melori exited hyperspace and chose to land at the Academy's main hangar. To go anywhere else would be to arouse suspicion. She’d done her homework back on Corellia, she knew the layout of the Academy and even had an idea where to look now she was here. She was a rebel after all and had hidden more stuff from her Masters at the Jedi Temple in Coronet than any other Padawan would ever dream of.

So she approached the cliff face that housed the Jedi Academy's main hangar. She entered without challenge as the main flight control room was deserted. The Jedi hadn’t arrived yet.

So she grabbed a small bag and stuffed her hold-out blaster in it and pushed her main blaster in her jacket pocket and disembarked. No ships didn’t mean no people but she dare not rush and arouse suspicion. And if any newcomers arrived, all they’d see is a Jedi issue Corvette parked up.

She approached Clarity Gate, a trapezoid shaped arch that fronted the courtyard and served as the entrance to the grounds. She knew of three likely hiding places and the first two were in the Academy itself. So she walked along the Crooked Way, past shrubbery and vistas until she reached a large courtyard.

Connected to the courtyard were many halls. But she had eyes only for the main entrance to the Temple which was located atop one of the four major stairs.

To err is human, to forgive divine. And I'm no god
Melori entered the Academy and was immediately oppressed by the size and grandeur of the building. To think her sister was in charge of what was easily five or size times the size of the building on Corellia just made her more angry. But she kept her feelings in check, in case she inadvertently drew the Dark-side of the Force to her.

So instead she grabbed a datapad out of her pocket and followed the map she called up. After fifteen minutes she found it - a statue of Luke Skywalker at one of the intersections of four corridors. For a full hour she painstakingly searched every inch of it. She even checked any clue from where it was looking or pointing but to no avail. It may have been the log-shot of the trio of options but it still irked her to draw a blank.

Melori walked slowly along the corridors, the stone walls the same material as the outside. She walked as quietly as she could, aware that in the silence her steps would echo throughout the building. Although this would make her hard to pinpoint, it would alert others to her presence.

But she saw no-one and heard no noise. She took the appropriate turn at each intersection and headed up a flight of stairs to where the Masters had their quarters and the place she'd came to visit - but first a detour.

The office of the HeadMaster was easily identified and she envisaged trashing the place, destroying everything she could find. So she was gravely disappointed to find it was empty save for a few pieces of furniture. She picked up a chair and threw it against the wall with a loud crash and scowled. This was not fair...free access to her precious sister's room and there was nothing to defile. Not even any scraps to steal. Nothing.

She wrote her name in the dust on the large desk in the middle of the room. Then she rubbed it out with the palm of her hand. If she was going to steal what she hoped to find, she didn't want to advertise her presence here.

Unsurprisingly the ride had been short. Simple. Rather boring and uneventful. No one had really expected anything different. Things didn't get even a bit interesting until they had touched down. What happened then? Well, the soldiers found out that they weren't entirely alone. There was another ship, seemingly empty, parked on academy grounds. Why was it here?

"Call it in. Now," Nyx growled, 'mildly' concerned.
"We ain't listening to you, Impy-" One of the other volunteers started to say, his features twisted up into a proud snarl.
"Call it in, Dorska. Check to see if anyone else was scheduled to come here. Naihoon, try to see if anyone is on board, or how recently the vessel was used. Take Lysle and Ossi with you. Nyx, you're with me. Everyone else, fan out!" No one questioned the commander. Why? Because the commander hadn't once been part of the Imperial army.

Or so thought the 'mildly' peeved Nyx.

Pushing her pointless anger aside (as well as she could) she followed her temporary boss as they left the hangar. Neither had a plan of where exactly they were going to go. The Zorren was simply trailing behind, while the human male was 'just going with his gut'. That didn't seem like the most practical approach to her. Worse in her mind, however, was the fact that he made no attempts to be quiet. His footsteps echoed loudly throughout the area they were currently in. Did he not care for any level of stealth?!? Was he hoping there would be someone here to fight?... Apparently so. Otherwise you'd think he'd have the common sense to-

"Commander, we've received no reports of any Jedi coming to assist us. At least not in their own ships," a familiar voice said, coming out from Nyx's comm unit. Chite, she thought, this could be very, very bad. Instinct made her want to break into a run. Perhaps her fight or flight mindset was kicking in. That meant little to the woman. She had come to Ossus for a very clear reason, a little trouble wasn't going to stop her now. "Sir, I just got a report from Ossi. He says he thinks the ship was running recently. He's, uh, he's not sure though." Now that didn't sound promising whatsoever. Frowning the duo made a quick response before continuing deeper into the complex. If it was a Jedi vehicle... than maybe a Jedi had just come of their own accord? If it was someone else...

Surely they, armed military officers, would be able to handle it?
Once again the thought was cut short. This time by a fairly loud 'thud' coming from...
Nyx was fairly certain that Corvus' office was that way.

Suddenly twice as concerned as before she grabbed her commander's arm and started pulling. They were going to march up to the office with guns cautiously raised and get to the bottom of this! Or that was the plan. It was likely that their footsteps would still be heard (despite the woman's natural affinity for soft steps 'n stealth). Whoever was nearby had definite time to get out of the room before the two soldiers reached it. Probably.

Darth Timoris

To err is human, to forgive divine. And I'm no god
People who made that much noise were either very stupid or they owned the place. As nobody could be that idiotic, Melori figured either the Jedi or the Republic had landed and were looking to re-take the Academy. This was bad for two reasons. The first was obvious, she did not want the Jedi teaching anywhere, let alone here.

The second reason is that she still hadn't found what she was looking for. So she slipped quietly out of the door just as she heard steps approaching and she made haste to her second choice or hiding place - the Council Chambers.

A short walk later she was there and proceeded to search the room, focussing on the GrandMaster's chair first and then anything that was obviously in the eyeline of anyone sitting on the chair. She worked quickly and as quietly as she could with one ear on the corridor that led to the chamber she was in.

Melori scoured the room. Anything associated with Grandmaster Skywalker was checked and double-checked. The trouble was that this was somewhere that had been regularly refreshed and updated, so a permanent hiding-place would not have been likely. It was - after all - her least favoured of the three potential places.

So. Two down and one to go - except she may have to go past that group of new arrivals to get outside. Which could be fun!

"Nobody here... chite." Sometimes the commander could be quite... obvious in his statements. That was a trait that Nyx usually despised. At the moment she was to busy wondering where their visitor had gone to be irritated. While they had walked to the office they hadn't passed or heard a single person. Whoever was here had done a good job of staying quiet. Which meant it definitely wasn't an animal... great. "If they were an ally of the Jedi, they would have called in or checked with the upper management. I highly doubt they could be friendly with us. We're going to have to go after them. Nyx, move ahead, look for any tracks or signs, I'll call this in. Try to stay quiet, okay? And whatever you do... don't use the force." Thanks, captain obvious, the Zorren thought with a roll of her eyes.

"I was stealthy before I had the force. No worries, bub. We'll find them." Whoever 'they' are...

"Sure, whatever, just get the job done." With that said the commander got out his comm unit, calling in to the rest of the troops, trying to ignore the worry filling his gut. "Someone's here. They're causing a big mess and are hiding from us- definitely not a friendly unit. Spread out, find whoever they are. Do not shoot unless they attack or if they run. Fire to disable, not to kill. Aim to bring them in for questioning. And for the Gods' sake, somebody watch the ships!" That last note sounded... personal. Had someone forgotten to secure their vessel before? Did they once leave a multi-million credit transportation unit unattended and unintentionally gotten it stolen or disabled?... Considering the fact that this was a makeshift squad, probably. Someone had frakked up that bad once. Hopefully they wouldn't do it again.

While the dozen or so other soldiers spread out (only half actually trying to be quiet) Drapeam Nyx found herself keeping low, footsteps light against the stone floor. By now she had made sure her comm would go to her ear piece instead of sounding out loud. Being silent was physically impossible for anyone not in space. Over years, however, the sniper had gotten close. Though perhaps that didn't mean much to her, as her breathing always felt far to loud to her non-human ears. Holding her breath only made it harder to focus so that 'solution' was out of the question. But we are getting off topic, yes? Our 'hero' moved carefully and listened hard for any noise. The patter of feet, foreign intakes of breath, shuffling of files, anything. If there was still someone to be found...

Then she'd find them. Someway, somehow.
