It Won't Be Secret For Long

Would they be angry? Kay wasn't sure. Would [member="Veiere Arenais"] think that she was going too fast? She wasn't so sure of that either. The two of them discussed different options for them when it came to getting married. Both of them were very private individuals, yet being the ruling monarch of Commenor, privacy was a rare thing. It was decided that there would be two cereminies, one private and one public. And given that there were others trying to stop their union, and tales of other high profile weddings being attacked in other sectors of the Galaxy, the choice was clear. Better sooner than later.

After much planning, Kay had everything sorted out. With a few guards in tow, she made her way through the forest near to where the estate used to be. An overgrown set of stairs was the perfect location. It was quiet and secluded for them.

To officiate the wedding, Kay had found a Cleric. He was a pleasant little fellow, short in height, but big in smiles and personality. He dabbled in theatre as a hobby, yet he knew how to be serious when the situation called for it. And he knew how to keep secrets. What his name was, she didn't know. He liked to just be referred to as The Cleric.

Kay stood there at the bottom of the steps, dressed in an elegant gown that was soft and dreamlike. The Cleric held her hand, knowing that she was nervous, worried that he'd of gotten cold feet and wouldn't show. She had planned to wait until sundown.

Earlier in the day she had left a message for Veiere with a set of instructions:

~My dear Veiere,

The time as come. We don't need to wait any longer. Please come to the overgrown stairway in the forest near the old Estate. Wear your finest. The Cleric and I will be waiting until the sun goes down.

Forever yours,

Kay~

His Estate had long since been destroyed by the assailant who had targeted them both and gone after [member="Lady Kay"], Veiere not having expected to return there any time soon, especially for a matter such as this one. They had spoken about the prospect of doing something private for themselves, keeping the public ceremony for the world to learn and know of their union yet this, this was for the two of them to be alone together and to share the love they had found in one another. For a good number of years now they had been together, Kay and him since the day they'd run into each other on Alzoc Three. It was a meeting of convenience, one that had served them both. They'd never expected to come to grow so close as they had, to understand one another on a level only the Force could explain with any real semblance of truth in its bond. How things had changed since the Galactic Republic's decline...

Arriving at the given rendezvous, he approached wearing a suit of black, it complimented the grey in his hair yet it too seemed a more comfortable fit for him in preference than the formerly white and black suit that he'd worn to the Iron Empire's hosted Gala. This time he hadn't come armed with his lightsaber, only listening to the Force for guidance in where he was sure to find her and this other, the cleric she had conscripted for the sake of their marriage. How much had she paid him in order to keep this secret, did she hope that he were loyal or would their ceremony be held sometime soon...-He had allowed Kay to organize every aspect of their union, not because he wanted nought to do with it but because business and Commenor's interests had been placed first, a fault of his choosing perhaps though more often than not, Kay did the same and he knew that she understood. All he had done was work his time away to do what was best for Commenor and by the most significant connection, what would please her.

It hadn't occurred to him just how beautiful she would look wearing the dress of her choice, her wedding dress that once upon a time Veiere would not have dreamed up the possibility of standing before; a year into her company it became a silent wish and still he doubted his chances. Yet here he was, approaching her with the widest of smiles and a look of lust and compassion in his eyes for how gorgeous she appeared to him.

"I trust I'm not late, my love..."

The Cleric and Kay had been there for only a couple of hours. The short man was very good at carrying a conversation, entertaining her while they waited. Twice he attempted to engage her in the topic the best bedding techniques, but she always stopped him by covering his mouth with her hand, with a light chuckle, though her cheeks were turning a shade of red. The Cleric had a twinkle in his eye each time, with a grin that spanned from ear to ear. He knew full well that she had been married previously. It was just fun to make her blush. During small lulls in their conversation, he entertained her with stories of fantasy and 'magic' tricks. He helped the time to pass quickly.

The movement of her guards signalled the artival of [member="Veiere Arenais"] . Given that he was head to toe in black, it was a little difficult to see him coming until he had cleared the trees. Kay watched him, having half expected that he would come wearing a ceremonial set of Jedi robes. The black suit was well enough. It made him appear quite calm and comfortable. The look in his eyes showed everything that she felt for him; love, devotion and compassion.

Kay held out her hand for him as he got close. "No my dear, you are right on time." She smiled and kissed his cheek, looking to the Cleric as he faked a cough to grab their attention.

"No kissing until I say it's time. You younglings are always so eager." He chuckled and winked to the two of them. And with a flourish of his hands, raising them high in the air as though to silence the whole forest, he looked to the two of them. "Are you ready? No turning back now..."

Fortunate, every other event in his life Veiere always seemed to be running late to get to!

The Cleric asked if they were having second thoughts or not, eager it seemed to get the private ceremony underway to which Veiere smiled to himself and then turned to step forward to [member="Lady Kay"]'s side, offering her his arm so that they might follow whatever procedure this specific cleric had in mind for their wedding, given his background. Many different species of sentient life had various different traditions and in this mans, Veiere wasn't entirely certain what to expect yet regardless, he had Kay at his side and nothing but their future ahead of them.

"We're ready..."

He agreed with confidence. He had been ready for this for quite some time now, no longer needing to hide their relationship or the way that they felt about one another, it had been a long time coming...

With a twinkle of his fingers, the wind seemed to pick up a bit, and windchimes that had been otherwise not seen by their eyes began to play a little music as the wind gently pushed them against eachother. It was faint, yet noticeable. "Face eachother and place your hand over eachother's heart, while your other hands are entwined together." After the two had done so, the Cleric continued. "This ceremony is simple in procedure, but the result will last a lifetime. You stand before me not as my Queen and future King, but as two individuals seeking to be joined in union. You know these woods as they know you. You've both spent time here to forget your troubles, your titles and to just be yourselves. Destruction and death happen all around you. But do you feel eachother's heartbeat? One beats for the other. Therein lies your sanctuary from everything around you. Above all else, you have eachother. This is not a decision made lightly, I'm sure. I don't even have to ask if you swear oaths of love and devotion for one another. Your presence here is proof of that. To seal the deal, you need only to kiss." While he was speaking, and as Kay and [member="Veiere Arenais"] were gazing into eachother's eyes, the Cleric was tying a golden ribbon around their joined hands, of which he had skillfully pulled out of one of his sleeves. The knot was an intricate one, the ribbon lacing around their hands and arms so that they were in a sense, tied to eachother. Their hands on eachother's hearts remained free however.

Kay never broke her gaze as she listened to the Cleric's words. It was simple, yet beautiful and by the end of it, they needed only to kiss. So much better than what other worlds had for their ceremonies. She leaned forward and closed her eyes, wanting to meet Veiere halfway for the kiss. And when their lips met, she held it for a while.

The Cleric chuckled to himself after nearly a minute. "The deal has been sealed, and I, the Cleric have born witness. You are now husband and wife joined in union. You may or may have not noticed the ribbon joining you together. It is a puzzle for you to solve. The only way to be released is to work together. No knives, no scissors, no cheating." He winked.

Veiere grinned back at [member="Lady Kay"] as she seemed fixated on him, his right hand upon her chest to where her heart was, her right upon his and their left hands being wrapped in the center between them at their mid-front. He listened to the words of their Cleric, he of whom spoke of a ceremony far simpler than he'd expected which came as a comfort as he'd not planned for any speeches or extravagant words per say, most of the things he spoke came from the heart yet for times such as these, every fumbled sentence would no doubt be remembered and it was hard not to be so distracted by her beauty that he might forget himself.

It was in a sense true that here they were free from all else, left only to be them, a couple away from the stresses of politics and foreign affairs, of which were very many. Commenor had exceeded many expectations others had held for them, they'd recently sought to expand their borders outside of their own planet, reaching out to the rest of their system on the Navigational Grid to offer sanctuary to their neighboring worlds, Mimban and Gyndine. Death was not an exaggeration, together they'd both gone through a world of hurt and whether direct or otherwise, had both been connected to the others pain, both having witnessed and acted as the pillar of strength and reason to the one they loved. Veiere stood as such for Kay and she for him, the latter of which she knew not to what extent yet Veiere...-He couldn't have come so far without her.

She leaned into him at the announcement of what their kiss would mean, he found her lips against his and in that moment their Cleric announced their wed; Veiere lost with her touch that he seemed to focus more upon the warmth of her breath than the words of the other, not realizing until she had pulled away that officially they were man and wife and in this moment, a quiet chuckle escaped him under a smirk of pride, pride in the fact that Kay had been called his wife, the two united in ceremony.

"I love you"

He whispered to her, still so close to her that his words need not be spoken to the world but only for her to hear and to recognize in the look that he offered, she was most important to him. Soon their eyes would be turned down to the ribbons that were wrapped around their arms and hands, his head tilting back as he glanced back at the Cleric in an almost skeptical nature though it was part of the rite and not one his skepticism was going to foul that night. No cheating however meant too the use of the Force and though this short little man wouldn't likely recognize it, Kay certainly would. "Aheh..." He chuckled in short, glancing back to Kay with the ease of amusement, "Can't be any more difficult than dancing together, yeah?" his eyes brightened, their recent dance before the Iron Empire leaving them both with sore feet for the amount of times they'd tread upon one another.

Kay smiled as [member="Veiere Arenais"] whispered to her. "I love you too..." She looked down to their bound arms and then to her new husband as he joked about their dancing. "Oh yes...this won't be as embarrassing, I'm sure." The reward was so much better too. Yet Veiere didn't know that yet. It won't take him long to catch on.

She turned to the Cleric and bowed her head in thanks and appreciation. "Thank you for this, Cleric. I trust that you'll sign all of the paperwork for the archives?"

"Already done, My Lady, already done. I'll take my leave, unless of course, you want a witness?...." He let that comment hang in the air for a moment, following it by a grin and wink. He just wanted to make her blush again and it only took a second for him to succeed. Yet before Kay could tell him no, he spoke up again. "I'm only kidding, of course. Your guards will look after you well enough, and they'll be kept a fair distance away, but close enough in case of trouble." He gave their bound hands a squeeze with both of his before he walked away, chuckling to himself and wiggling his fingers in the air once again. The wind slowed to a stop then, with the music from the chimes dying down.

Soon they were left standing there in silence. Kay looked up to Veiere and leaned closer, whispering in his ear. "Follow me..." It wasn't as though he had a choice in the matter, but she knew that he wouldn't say no either. She led him through the trees until they came upon a tent. They only saw the back of it. As she walked him around to the front, he'd see it open, with a large bed, soft lights and all of the comforts of a bedchamber. If Veiere didn't know what she was up to yet, he surely knew now.

Kay led him inside and then turned to face him, carressing his cheek with her hand while she drew him in for another kiss. "We can't work too quickly or the knots will only tighten. Think of it as being like a fingertrap. Just take it slow." She found one end of the ribbon and began working her way through it, pulling it through the other layers and working her way to unwind it. When she neared the first of the knots, she waited for Veiere to catch up.

Veiere cast the little man a daring gaze as if thrown off by his would-be humor. By most accounts Veiere was a man of integrity though even he had to admit that over the past couple years whilst spent in [member="Lady Kay"]'s company, he had grown something of a jealous streak for all those that had tried and thankfully failed to seduce her and steal her away from him. Veiere had walked into her life as a nobody, a Drifter and an Exile; now they were to be wed and sure he should have expected some sort of opposition on the notion of such a thing yet for all he used to be reserved, restrained in himself, nothing quite got him going like a man making crude comments to his now wife.

"I see now why he tied me to you..."

He muttered under his breath with a faint curl to the corner of his mouth, looking back at Kay as the Cleric left them to be. It was a joke of course, he wouldn't ruin the day by battering the poor sap, he wasn't that sour about it though the remark amused him enough to ease what little tension the little man had provoked. On the subject of the Guards, he soon glanced around the area, brows lifting a little as they were being left alone with an 'acceptable amount of privacy'; his head soon lifting in a half nod as he put two and two together. His assumption soon confirmed as she tried to pull him quite literally with her, the two moving towards the large tent and when coming about the front of it and Veiere seeing what awaited for them within, his expression shifted completely to one of both surprise and pleasure.

"O-oh.."

His tone lifted in a heightened sense of amusement and eagerness, his eyes then being cast to the ribbons between them of which Kay spoke on the matter, requiring their patience to unravel. "When have you ever taken anything slow in your life since I've come into it..." He mused in jest, his smirk broadening and that old cocky side to him coming out as it had done so often before in the company of their own. There was a lot to be said for the traditionalist Jedi who had gone all his life in dedication to the Force, through celibacy and the closure of intimacies most others deemed typical for every day life. Between the two of them, he was certain that there would be assumptions from the outside regarding what exactly it was that they'd gotten up to in their private time though the truth was that while they'd loved one another for a while now, they'd not shared a bed once. This was of course by no spiritual means or matters of faith in any sense but more so their integrity and general nature to how they had taken their path of their own mind. The mental and emotional connections that they shared bonded in the Force was...-Surely about to get much stronger.

Wielding the Force was one thing, but being with a woman for the first time in over two decades...-Had he not known her so well, he would've carried a wealth of anxiety with him in the moment.

An awkward laugh escaped him as he thought on it all, his gaze taking to her own as he tediously tried to conquer this series of knots that only a man with far too much time on his hands could tie. "Life Day came early this year..." He spoke with a grin, speaking under a slightly heated breath, one that touched upon her cheek as he moved in to place a kiss to her lips and stepping further, gingerly guiding her passed the open entrance to the tent, the wall of which soon closed by a gust of wind not of the physical world but willed by his control in the Force.
