It's a Pity, Boz (SSC)

Tegaea Alcori

Back to Square One
(This is an aftermath to the Dominion of Boz Pity. We sort of ran out of time and posts, so if anyone has any stories to conclude, here's your chance.

I am going to be doing development for some ground fortifications, feel free to join in, or do your own thing.)

Dominion participants tagged this once to let you know this is open.

The struggle for Boz Pity was over. Now it was time to build a new future.

As the battle with the pirates concluded, Tegaea was putting the next stage of her fortifications into place. To defend the planet there would be the traditional hollowed mountain with shield generator, Tempest cannons and barracks. Around it though would be several large forts protected by their own shields and heavy defences. These would slow down an enemy attack long enough for any attacker to be hammered by other defences. If the enemy tried to bypass the forts they would receive fire to their flank.

((Continued from this post.))

By the time he'd gotten back to the party, most everything had been wrapped up. Combat was over, medics were moving the last of the wounded from battlefields to mobile hospital stations, and construction crews were starting to arrive. He was about to go after the unknown vessel he'd detected, but contacted the fleet in orbit first. They'd detected a vessel matching the descriptions he gave exiting the atmosphere and sprinting for hyperspace at the far edges of sensor range. Long gone. It was the latter group on the ground that ended up catching his curiosity. He set his fighter down in a corner of the landing area and headed towards what appeared to be the hub for construction.

The Sephi was fully aware that the reason the Coalition had set sights on Boz Pity was to develop it as a fortress world. The inhabitants were dead, wiped out thousands of years ago, and the planet itself was in a fortuitous location. Put a fleet and support in orbit, some bases and heavy guns on the planet itself, and the place could easily become a fortress world. A watchtower to the east of Sanctum space, fortified yet able to dispatch forces quickly. A major target, but one able to defend itself effectively.

Audren hadn't yet been involved in the building of a fortress world. Sure, Ossus was heavily fortified, but he'd only been there for the beginnings as a scout. This time he was in a position to help, and in so doing possibly learn. Who knew, he might even be able to pitch some of his products and get some sales for Ceredir. Who knew? Endless possibilities in this galaxy.

The curious Jedi approached one of the planning tables that had just recently been abandoned. Whoever the people were who had left it had neglected to shut off the holoprojector, and it showed a wire-frame schematic. He could interpret the mountain, and it looked like something was underneath it. If he read the scale right, rather large guns were present there, and what looked like fortresses were stationed at intervals around the mountain. It was a smart layout, covering angle after angle, but he was still trying to wrap his head around how large the scale seemed.

After checking with her staff and inspecting a shipment of parts, Tegaea headed back inside the pre-fab building which served as their command centre.

There was someone there already. She paused, thinking for a name.

“Audren, right?” she asked, coming forward. He was a Sephi, a species which looked like the Eldorai she knew much better, but wasn’t.

Still, he was an agreeable sort, and since she had no one to talk to, he’d do.

“Do you like it? We’ve found a good location here, a mesa we could flatten off and hollow out. Even without the shields up it can take a pounding without giving out. It makes a perfect platform to direct the rest of the defence.”

Over_Monument_Valley,_Navajo_Nation.jpg

The Knight wasn't so engrossed in the holo that he missed the person coming into the place, just enough that he didn't turn to acknowledge them right away. If he wasn't supposed to be here they'd tell him, then they'd likely put a guard on the door. Much to his surprise though, the words coming out of her mouth mentioned him by name, and directly.

"Audren, right?"

That in and of itself was enough to shift his attention from the holo to the woman. She was a statuesque redhead, human or close enough to not tell a difference. And not someone he remembered seeing before. To boot, she wasn't telling him to get out or asking him what he was doing there, she was asking his opinion and explaining some of what he was seeing. He got the feeling that this was one of the people that he could learn quite a bit from, and it bugged him that he couldn't figure out why. But she'd asked him a question.

"Audren Sykes, yes, ma'am. I can see the location's potential, but if it's hollowed out how will it protect against concussion weapons outside of shields? I seem to remember something about large concussions being amplified in enclosed spaces."

After he asked the question, he remembered that companies made anti-concussion fields. Not shields per se, but fields designed to minimize or even negate such a danger. Another option had occurred to him before he'd asked, one that he didn't see on the schematics. The Sephi wasn't an engineer by any stretch of the word, but he made it a point to learn from what he experienced.

While Tegaea was busy building Festung Boz Pity, Elpsis was recovering in the medbay of a new space station Firemane was constructing in Boz Pity's orbit. As far as medbays went, it was pretty standard. In all likelihood there was a universal layout for them that would be followed no matter what.

Thus it was all very sterile, clean and the light was rather bright. Elpsis had taken well to painkillers and bacta and thus been moved out of the bacta tank into an admittedly comfortable bed. Someone had left her a stuffed Wampa. She wasn't sure how she felt about that. The drugs were starting to wear off, so she was feeling a good deal more coherent and sipping a glass of water. At least she had a lovely view of the planet from the window port. Maybe a certain Dahomian would come visit her.

Well, the fight for Boz Pity was over. Abaigeal had not had the chance to fly off to aid of her friend Elpsis, it was a good thing Connor was about to aid her and she had been taken to a medical facility, in orbit. The two friends had not seen each other since .. the .. 'discussion'. And they had left each other on bad terms, but Abaigeal could not give a womp rat's ass-sets about that now, the most important thing to her was Elpsis's well being.

Once the Sanctum had secured the stronghold and began work to fortify the place, she had gone back to her ship with Boz (the lizard). She had released him or was it her? Abaigeal did not have the time to look, but not before attaching a tracking device to her strange new friend. I wonder if they will let me bring him or her to Voss? probably not a good idea, besides he or she, would prefer to remain home, she suspected. So she gave one of Boz's toes a hug and left him .. or her, to do whatever gigantic lizards do best.

So the Crossfire Hurricane lifted off the surface of Boz Pity bound for orbit. It did not take long to dock and find her way through the makeshift medical facility to Elpsis's bed side. "Hey!", she said only feeling a little awkward, but a smile cross her face. "You look bloody awful". Not wanting to hurt Elpsis physically, Abaigeal leaned down and placed a kiss on her forehead. "Well, I could not find flowers or grapes for love nor money, so I brought you a rock", she said placing a small rock on the side table. "It's a nice rock, see? .. it has lots of pretty colours in it". She grinned wide.

She would stay with Elpsis a little while before heading back down to Boz Pity to catch up with Lady Tegaea and Audren, she will leave them to take about digging holes for the moment.

The new space station was forming well. Using pre-constructed modules it was easy to put the station’s internals together. Even now another section was being towed into place outside the window.

As Tempest stepped in she found that Abaigeal was there already to pay her respects.

Tempest had stopped by to pick up some flowers, and now rather awkwardly handed them to Elpsis.

Sorry I got you shot…but look pretty flowers! Went that line of reasoning.

Still, she smiled. “I feel bad bringing only flowers – I should have brought a rock! Goddess knows, there’s enough of them on Boz Pity. How’re you doing Elpsis? Hey, Aba…how’s your lizard?”

Tegaea raised an eyebrow. “I’m impressed, Mr Sykes. I’m Tegaea Alcori, by the way, CEO of Firemane. But anyway, I’m impressed you thought of that. But yes, we’ve accounted for that. The upper sections of the mesa have been reinforced, and most of the mining is underground.”

She showed a cutaway of the below-ground areas. “The entire facility will be constructed to withstand anything other than the largest turbolaser strike without suffering any damage. It is also mounted on giant spring units to cushion the impact.”

“Of course, the most important thing is that the shields stay up, because without the shields it’s a lot more vulnerable.”

She turned to the Jedi. “I heard you helped out just now from the air. Did you want to check out the hangers? I’m not a pilot, and though I’ve got advisors, some advice from a proper flyer would be helpful.”

"Where did you get those?", she said pointing to the flowers, before laughing and walking around to Tempest to give her a hug. "I am pleased you are both alright .. for the most part", she added looking at Elpsis.

"Boz is good, err, that is the lizards name now. I took it back to the grave yards and collected my ship. I will have to turn back to ground soon but wanted to see Elpsis firstly". Abaigeal is no healer or medic and had not had the chance to find out the extent of Elpsis's injuries.

"What happened? how long you going to be here for?".

Abaigeal decided she would find a seat on the end of Elpsis's bed making sure not to sit on her feet. "I hope not too long, you and I have some unfinished business in Hutt space", she winked. The truth of it was, Abaigeal was tired of have that large target on her back from the bounty. The time for drawing that chapter closed was fast approaching.

And suddenly Elpsis had visitors! That was nice. Aba was the first to enter and she'd brought her a rock. Last time they'd talked it hadn't gone well. Elpsis was still firmly convinced that she'd been in the right, but she didn't want to harp about that at the moment. It was nice Aba was willing to look past that and clearly cared about her.

Besides, the redhead was still feeling rather groggy. She glanced over at the rock. "Uh, thanks. Nice to see you. You ok?" she asked a bit awkwardly. Then Tempest showed up with flowers. Wait, flowers? Elpsis blinked when she saw them, feeling a bit confused. Are we, like, dating now? she wondered. Tempest had reacted rather strongly when she'd been shot.

"Flowers? Aww, that's sweet. You're not gonna write me poems though, right? I'm fine. Bloody nurses won't give me any decent mags or proper drinks," she glanced over to Aba. "You got a lizard? Why ain't I surprised? Tempest and I kicked arse and totally killed most of the pirates with a freaking tornado, then one arsehole shot me," she shrugged and winced a bit.

"I'll be out soon and kicking arse again. Hutt space, huh? Sounds fun. But I got some folks back home who count on me now." Specifically Laina, Aella and little Morrigan.

"Ah, there you are, beautiful. Been looking for you. Work on the space station is going well. How are things groundside?" Having said these words, a statuesque, scarred redhead stepped into the command centre. Tegaea was a couple inches taller than her, which Siobhan found extremely sexy.

She leaned on a cane, but an aura of power enveloped her. One that was unmistakeably of a darker nature than that of a Jedi. The power of the Dark Side coiled and slithered around her like a serpent. Heading straight for Tegaea, she pulled her wife into a deep, loving kiss. Siobhan was not the sort to hold back or care much about modesty.

Her eyes fell upon the holoprojection of the base and the Jedi in the room when she ceased assaulting her wife's lips. He resembled an Eldorai, though he probably wasn't one. "Who's your friend?"

"Yeah I am good", she said, "Listen, I am sorry about .. you know. All those things that was said back on Tygara, I should have been more understanding", Abaigeal gave Elpsis a weak smile. After all Elpsis had been through a lot in her childhood, none of which was any of her doing and so she had no choice in the matter, and situation when one finds someone you love and care for come close to being killed, silliness of an argument is banish.

"I do have a lizard!", she laughed thankful for the break in mood. "Not sure if it is a male or female, but I call it Boz .. original huh?".

"You will be happy to learn Boz likes pirates for breakfast, lucky for us not Sanctum members although if hungry enough ... ". she grinned.

“My poetic skills run as far as reciting children’s verses from home, don’t worry about that,” Tempest said with a smile. She managed to rustle up a vase from somewhere and put the flowers on the table beside Elpsis.

“Well, I’ll have a talk with the nurses, see if I can get you some ‘medicinal’ alcohol. I just hope Doctor Osway isn’t on here. That Twi’lek can stare through you better than any Miraluka, especially if you’re breaking her rules.”

“So what’s the diagnosis, Elpsis? When can you get out of here?” she asked, taking one of the redhead’s hands.

The mention of the argument on Tygara made things a bit awkward, but it was clear Aba had somewhat repented.
Tempest decided not to mention any more there.

Elpsis glanced over to Aba. "Look, it's ok. I'm...sorry, too." In a way she was. Her opinion of Jedi was unchanged, but she felt bad about hurting Aba's feelings and upsetting her friend. "So...we're friends again? Fresh start and stuff?"

She threaded her fingers with Tempest's when the black woman took her hand. The Dahomian's was not free of scars, but Elpsis did not mind. It was that of a warrior. Besides, she might get some booze!

"Is Osway the Twi'lek Siobhan keeps trying to bang and who always says no to her?" she wondered aloud. "Doctors say a day or two at the earliest," she made a face at that, feeling a bit grumpy. "Not like they know anything. Ain't more than just a bullet."

Tegaea Alcori

“Construction is going well, the reactors are almost in place. Siobhan, this is Jedi Knight Audren Sykes. Audren, this is my wife, and joint CEO, Siobhan Kerrigan.”

“I was showing Audren around as he was showing an interest. He was very helpful in the battle against the pirates, and did a top notch job as a pilot. I was going to have him evaluate the hangers and setup and see if he has any changes he’d suggest.”

She smiled at her wife, returned the kiss, and then looked back to the Jedi.

Tegaea Alcori. He got the feeling that he should know the name, but he was coming up blank. Fortunately, the woman continued with her introduction. CEO of Firemane. Ah. That was why. Firemane was a heavy supporter of the Coalition in almost all areas. Ships, weapons, and soldiers were among those provided. He didn't know much about the company beyond that fact though. He barely knew the CEO's name, after all.

As she expanded the image, he noted the enhanced construction and the springs. He personally had been going to suggest a reinforced honeycomb design like what he'd seen in some armors, but it was clear that the woman had done this before and probably had some top-notch engineers on the payroll. Even so, he agreed that it would be better if the shields stayed up. It was almost always better when the shields stayed up.

She caught him completely off guard when speaking about his roll in the earlier fighting. What he'd done hadn't really been of any note. Technically he hadn't even gotten any kills, which he understood was the unofficial 'ranking' to how good pilots were. Yet she made it sound like he'd been the pilot with the most kills and a truly outstanding performance when he wasn't. As he was about to answer, another female waltzed into the room. Well, maybe not waltzed, as she walked with a cane, but that was the attitude she gave off. As she brought the redhead in for a rather flashy kiss, the Sephi turned back to the holoprojection and manipulated it to focus on the hangar. In the meantime he steeled himself against the darkness that had arrived with her.

The conclusion of the kiss was heralded by the newcomer asking about him. He was introduced, and in turn got the name of the woman. Siobhan. Her he'd heard of, she had a bit more of a reputation. He seemed to remember seeing her in action before, but had the feeling it was tangential at best. Given the stories, he'd likely have remembered the destruction in stark detail. And she was Tegaea's wife and joint CEO. Interesting.

"I appreciate the vote of confidence. I'm not much of a pilot though, just fortunate enough to have a well-made ship that manages to keep me alive. I'd be happy to offer my opinions on the hangar, but you'd be better off asking someone like Aquila 13 if you want professional advice."

The fighter he flew was certainly strong. It carried Mandalorian shields and armor as well as a rather alarming array of weapons. It was also almost the size of a light freighter and had a bunk and small living area. As such, it very much helped that he'd been flying against a large, lumbering freighter and had the Force on his side when the other pilot didn't. No, Kurayami would be the much better choice for what the CEO was looking for right now.

Verily, Firemane was a corporation with a strong commitment to technological innovation and top-quality military contracting services, whilst retaining a keen sense of corporate social responsibility. It also had its own fiefdoms on Tygara and Arkas and Siobhan's personal cadre of Dark Jedi.

That part was less advertised. Regardless, Siobhan stopped assaulting her wife's lips with an artillery barrage of kisses, and glanced over at the Sephi, giving him a smile. "Nice to make your acquaintance, Jedi Sykes. I believe our daughter might've mentioned you." Which one? They had three. One of them was a Jedi.

Her hand stroked across Tegaea's back before she stopped fondling and took her hand. "I'm not a pilot, but I'm down for inspecting the hangars. You can show me around. I was thinking that maybe we could station some of the new Rekali fighters here since MandalHypernautics was so nice to make them available for the Coalition." Perhaps one day Firemane could manufacture an Alcori-class elite fighter. It could be a companion for the Kerrigan-class bomber. This was totally not a cult of personality.

"Yeah a fresh start", she repeated happy about that indeed. One thing Abaigeal knew of Elpsis was she was not the mushy type, at least not around her so the only show of affection Abaigeal gave her was a hand resting on her good leg. At least she hoped.

But looking at Elpsis and Tempest, she suddenly realised she might be the third wheel here. There was a sense of affection between the two which was unmistakable to the force senses. And she smiled. "Just a bullet, yeah", she smiled skeptically, "But I am pleased that you will not be here long, I can't imagine you laying still in bed for long", a tongue poked at her friend.

"I can't stay long, there is still work to be done back on Boz Pity, so I had better say my good byes now", she stood up and moved to give Elpsis a kiss on the cheek. "Give me a call and let me know how you are going", she looked to both of them, knowing Elpsis will probably not do so, but Tempest might.

"Jedi business and all that", she added knowing this would get right up Elpsis's nose, and hopefully start to make her all fired up and on the mend. "I got to go and try save something or someone".

Poo.

That was the first thought that came to Karen's head as she surveyed the wreckage of her X-wing. This was going to cut into her savings, big time. That was one of the big disadvantages to maintaining a jet fighter by yourself. If it breaks? It's gonna cost a mountain to put back together. Bleh.

"Never thought I'd say this but... Thank the Gods for insurance."

Well? Not that paying that bill monthly got any better, anyways. But at least now it'd come in handy. Too bad the "road side assistance" policy didn't extend much beyond Denon. She'd have to pay one of the SSC freighter boys to come down and tractor beam her ship out of there. Probably pulling a good bit of the dirt and soil with it too. Meh. ...Nothing that doesn't wash off the flight deck just fine. It would be picking through the tiny bits of metal by hand that killed her. Nothing like spending an hour or two on the flight line salvaging your laser cannon's refuse to make you look like a real veteran. What was the Force Power that assisted you here? Force FmyLife, maybe?

So yeah. Poo.

"Ugh... Once Grant sees the bill? He's going to kill me."

“Yeah, that’s the one. She’s been so disappointed that Osway won’t give in to her charms. I think she feels that all women like other women, and those that don’t aren’t aware yet,” Tempest said with a shake of the head.

“It’s a bullet which nearly killed you. So you’re going to stay here until they say you can go. And to make sure, I’m staying here too,” she said as sternly as she could. She gave Elpsis a kiss too.

She was glad that the pair had made up though. To Aba she added, “Siobhan’s on the surface with Tegaea, you could check in with them if you wanted.”

She patted Aba on the shoulder in a friendly way. “Take care, you. Don’t become lunch for Boz.”
