It's for the Children

Jaxton Ravos

Leonard "Bones" McCoy had just walked into the Safe Harbors Orphanage on Coruscant. It was a roomier place than he was expecting, but he supposed that One Sith funding and that 1.5 Million dollar donation from a woman named Sabrina would do that to an orphanage. As he walked in a throng of small children surrounded him, as if he were a Zeltron woman in heat lying on one of the nude beaches of Corelia.

"Adopt me"

"No, Adopt me, I'm smarter that her!"

"If you adopt me I'll clean your room."

"If you adopt me I'll promise to do all of my homework."

And so on and so forth. It was adorable, in a surrounding sort of way. Leonard smiled at the children and crouched down to look at them at eye level. "I'm sorry, I'm not here to adopt anybody today. I'm here to be your new doctor." He said excitedly. "Can you tell me where a 'Mr. Orcus' is?"

"I can tell you I can tell you!" A twi'lek girl said enthusiastically, raising her hands and jumping up and down. "Blubber Daddy's this way." She said, pointing and walking over.

"I'll follow you then." Leonard said and followed closely after the little tyke, a bit nervous to be meeting his new boss, but excited all the same.

Orcus sat in an oversized chair in a lounge that overlooked the Great Western Sea of Coruscant. He enjoyed watching the waves beat against the shore line in a soft, soothing rhythm. It reminded him of home. The One Sith were his new family, but they did not have any oceans on Prakith. Not like the ones on Giju. He heaved a long sigh through his blow holes and sat back.

Big, black eyes closed and he simply listened to the sound of the sea.

Suddenly, he heard pairs of feet approaching.

"Headmaster Orcus, Headmaster Orcus," he felt a tug on his arm and looked down. Cassandra was pulling on his flipper. He smiled benignly.

"Yes, young one?"

"You have someone to see you." She pointed. Orcus looked up at the man standing in the doorway. The Herglic's blubbery brows rose and he got to his feet.

"Aaah. Thank you child, you are free to go." Orcus moved over to the adult as the child scampered off. He extended a massive flipper toward the man. "Dr. McCoy, I presume?"

Dr. McCoy followed the young twi'lek girl until finally finding the Headmaster, in an appropriately sized chair that had a great view of Coruscant's Western Sea. McCoy would admit it was a beautiful sight but couldn't help but feel that he couldn't appreciate it's view the same way the oceanic-natured Herglic could, his eyes closed as he simply soaked in the sound and presence of the ocean. The young parentless twi'lek headed over to the whalous man and tugged on his flipper before getting his attention, the Sith smiling in an odd sort of way that one would never expect at the sight of the child. The girl said a few words and the Herglic rose to his feet before heading over to the Dr. asking his name before extending a hand. Or flipper rather.

In return Dr. McCoy extended his hand with a firm shake, but could help feeling swallowed in the man's sheer size. "Yes sir Mr. Orcus, it's a pleasure to finally meet you." McCoy said enthusiastically. "You've managed to put together quite the establishment here. I'd like to thank you again for bringing me on. I can't wait to get to work."

Leonard nodded at the great whale.

"I'm sure it'll come in time. Coruscant wasn't built in a day. We'll get there." He reassured the man. "So, where am I to be working? Do I need to get a rundown of the facility first or how do you want to this?"

Orcus waved a flipper, "I'm sure one of the other caretakers will get you situated. You'll be working in the East Wing where our pediatric center is located. Our legal requirements mandate that no one is to be alone with the children, a precaution, so you'll be working with the Toydarian, Dr. Snuut."

The Herglic failed to mention that the Toydarian was also a loyal servant of the One Sith.

The implications of Dr. Snuut's species was not lost on Leonard McCoy. Toydarians had a natural immunity to mind tricks. Not that Leonard McCoy, or even any of the doctor's other names, particularly used mind tricks, but smart money laid on a Toydarian, or an Epicanthix or Hutt for that matter, being a spy for the One Sith. Uninfluenced by potential mental agents. That was Force-born agents anyway. Species based toxins to induce sleepiness, drunkenness, or other such influences they were perfectly vulnerable. If a person could use Art of the Small or Sith Alchemy, or even both at once to make on the fly, say inside a man's caf, well, that only made the job easier.

But then again, that was irrelevant. Leonard McCoy was an upstanding One Sith citizen, and would never resort to such manipulation. "I haven't heard of Dr. Snuut, but it'll be a pleasure to meet him. Which way is the East Wing?"
