Chapter I: In The Shadow of Ambition
Born in 863 ABY as Ivalyn Ariel Yvarro, her origins were as tangled as the political webs her parents wove. Her mother, Ariel Yvarro, had an affair with Djorn Bline, a skilled intelligence operative of the New Imperial Order. Djorn, a seasoned spy and assassin, might have felt a fleeting sense of affection for Ariel, but his loyalty lay with the New Imperial Order, leaving little room for family ties. Ariel, in turn, chose to step back from her role as Grand Moff of the First Order to focus on raising her children. Yet, Djorn's presence in their lives remained sparse, especially after their final split in 866 ABY, shortly after the birth of Ivalyn's younger sister, Zola. Unbeknownst to Ariel at the time, she was pregnant with their son, Drianos, when she severed ties with Djorn.
After the separation, Ariel moved her family away from the political heart of Bastion back to her roots on Dosuun. But soon, her ambitions led her to establish the Mountbatten Expedition, a mission aimed at aiding worlds ravaged by the Bryn'adul's brutal conquests. This venture took Ariel and her children across the galaxy before they eventually returned to Dosuun, settling into a quieter life.
Ivalyn's early years were spent under the shadow of her family's storied legacy. She pursued a degree in journalism at the University of Avalonia, aiming to carve out her own path. Yet, her last name proved a double-edged sword, with accusations of nepotism and questions about a future in politics hounding her career. Frustrated, she distanced herself from Dosuun and the weight of expectations.
However, as the Commonwealth gained power, Ivalyn found herself drawn back into the political fold, especially after Kelora Priestly's rise as High Queen in 890 ABY. Ivalyn's skills soon caught the Queen's attention, and she became a trusted advisor. Her influence grew, and she was appointed as the High Representative of the Commonwealth. It wasn't long before she ascended to the role of High Commissioner, playing a key role in forging a crucial agreement between the Sith Empire and the Commonwealth.
But in 903 ABY, everything changed. While attending a coronation within the Galactic Alliance, a stray shot intended for Darth Carnifex struck Ivalyn instead. Her quick-thinking security team saved her life, but the event marked a turning point. As she lay recovering, the ideologies she had once dismissed began to resonate. Her father's stern lessons, which had lingered in the background of her life, now took on new meaning. The near-fatal attack had opened her eyes to the harsh realities of power and survival.
By the end of 903 ABY, Ivalyn emerged from her recovery with a new understanding of the forces that shaped her family—and herself. She could no longer ignore the allure of power, control, and the role she could play in steering an empire. In the shadow of ambition, Ivalyn found a renewed purpose, one that would reshape her path and the fate of those around her.
