- Blow You Away: The J12 is blessed with both an very effective repulsorlift field, that when deployed via the grenade's detonation can send targets left, right, or into the air by several meters, depending on their proximity and direction to the grenade itself. It also boasts a very large area of effect, meaning that escape from its effects for those within its general vicinity is unlikely, even if one were to get out of range, the chance of being hit by either an object-- or even a person it throws is still high.
- Danger Close: A downside to its very large area of effect and very high damage output, the J12 is something that users should be wary of using in enclosed spaces and close quarters environments. Disclaimers are abundant when purchasing that operators should ensure they are behind sturdy cover, or far enough away from their targeted location as to not be thrown back along with their enemies.
The Jūryoku 12 Repulsor Grenade, more commonly referred to as the J12 Repulsor is an anti-gravity based (mostly) non-lethal explosive device developed by Nakaioma Advanced Infantry Systems; a research and development department of Nakaioma Defense Dynamics. Protected by a permasteel casing, the J12 functions by taking advantage of pre-existing repulsorlift technology and applying specially designed 'Repulsor Expansion' modules to project the resulting wave of anti-gravity fields in a variety of different directions, thus allowing it to be used to send individuals and objects temporarily into the air, or blast them far back. Highly sophisticated, the grenade is yet to be produced in significant numbers due to its addition of a miniature anti-gravity generator, a technology often used for vehicles, and the simple fact that it is a particularly niche design. The J12 was ordered into development following a successful campaign to begin its production by the team, after the success of the Konide 10 Plasma Detonator, another experimental, plasma-based grenade that NAIS worked on.
Limited by the very nature of repulsorlift technology, J12 grenades can only function in the presence of a gravity well. While their general claim to be non-lethal does come with a disclaimer, as falling individuals do have a chance of injuring themselves on the way down, or those that are blasted in another, more level direction may hit themselves on something. A small digital interface screen can be found on the side of each grenade, giving users readings on the integrity of the grenade, due to its sensitive internal components, the micro anti-gravity generator being the prime example of this. Not something Nakaioma Defense Dynamics focuses on selling to corporations or government entities, the J12 has seen most of its success with smaller groups, and individual civilian customers, often seen as something of interest or quirk. It does however still have its practical functions, and has seen occasional use by law enforcement, or private security agencies in certain parts of the galaxy as a (mostly) non-lethal alternative. Currently the J12 is seeing testing runs with Nakaioma Security Services for the purposes of crowd control and active private security defenses.
