BIG Z1776
Baboon with a MAAWS
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Designed to be the CRAF army's answer to orbital bombardment and well-shielded fortifications. The J-30 is built on a train car-sized platform with repulsorlift drives on it which can provide the weapon with a full 360 degree field of fire and allow its substantial recoil to be fully absorbed. A complex lifting and ramming system for its ammunition to be lifted. This weapon is employed at the division level in a three batteries of six guns to provide fire support to critical sections of the front as well as counter-battery fire against enemy artillery and high priority targets such as enemy command and control, communications, logistics, and even landing zones and supply ships that come into range. The greatest strength of this weapon is its ability to reach into orbit and dissuade large enemy vessels from coming into range of it and the ground forces it protects. With the fact that no J-30's are ever deployed alone this means that if one weapon is in range, many others will be as well.
However, this anti-orbital capability can be prone to abuse if certain factors are not understood, such as the target ship's location, speed, and its own defensive statistics.
- Intent: To provide a heavy siege gun and semi-mobile anti-orbital cannon for the Crossroads Republic Armed Forces

- Rate of Fire: Low
- Stopping Power: Extreme
- Recoil: Very High
- This weapon has a very long barrel, providing incredible velocity and range.
- Possesses a complex fire control system that can be used to hit orbital targets.
- Its loading system does not require the gun to be lowered to feed its shells.
- The sheer size of their shells coupled with advancements in the preceding centuries means they can punch through frigates at maximum power.
- These guns are built on large repulsorlift pads and require a prime mover vehicle and a large flat area to fire from.
- These guns are able to fire into orbit, and can be used as very effective counter-battery fire to orbital bombardment.
- Possess a powerful integral shield generator for vehicle and crew protection.
- Massive ordinance, far exceeds the capabilities of most other guns of its size, a battery under protective shields can slug it out with many warships.
- Possesses its own shields which can withstand direct hits from many large kinds of guns, this shield can extend to protect much of its logistics vehicles.
- Very accurate weapon.
- Loading the shells doesn't require the gun to be lowered, increasing firing rate.
- Very fast projectile speed.
- Too big to be very mobile, cannot execute shoot-and-scoot tactics.
- Ammunition is too big to be man-handled by less than six men.
- Requires a large and well-trained crew (~25).
- Requires a large somewhat-flat area to fire from.
- Slow firing rate.
- Requires a large logistics train to supply ammunition.
- Requires a prime mover vehicle, it is not self-propelled.
