Strengths:
- Leather baby! - The alchemized armor has a reduced efficacy to being manipulated, interfered with, or destroyed by the Force due to the Force negating effects of the alchemized Terentatek leather. It features a clippable high neck leather protective strip against those pesky force chokes. This has a VT-Impact gel liner and pads for extra protection.
- Mighty Shield! - Bright red Akk dog scales are placed in strategic areas of the armor and are very difficult to cut. These are highly resistant to lightsabers. The same can be said for the shield, which can take many blows with little damage
- Can't keep me down! - This armor has been force imbued through Jal Shey techniques with the ability to help the wearer to remain conscious longer and return to consciousness after sustaining an injury or effect that would knock them out.
- Spec Ops - Battlefield awareness and communication system along with extra goodies ( AI-Wrist Blaster ) Drops comm and scanner emissions to avoid detection. All of these components have been coated with Plastiray and aren't disrupted easily by EMP/ Ion weapons as per the benefits of Plastiray - Substance.
Weaknesses:
Tererentak Leather makes it difficult to heal the body while wearing it. Armor must removed off the wounded area in order to be healed with the Force.
As it is supernaturally tough, Terentatek leather will not break due to blunt or concussive forces. Blasters and Slugthrowers may pierce the material and the leather parts afford only light resistance to lightsabers, such as glancing blows.
The back of the next is relatively exposed to permit the wearer to fire a rifle whilst prone. Knee and elbow joints are relatively weak.
- Rather garish.
Description:
Jacen had long worn his VT Vanguard armour. To be accurate, he had worn nine different Vanguard armours. That suit was designed for protection and mobility, but not longevity and Jacen very rarely stays far from the centre of any conflict. Every suit has held the inscription of his unit within the New Jedi Order: The Hounds.
In their travels the New Jedi Order fought several beasts with exceptional durability. Their hides have been used to make a medium weight scale armour that provides more durability than the Vanguard suit.
On Belsavis they awoke an ancient terentatek. Massive, old and gnarled, the creature's hide is tough and affords exceptional protection against Force powers. Being his buddy, Micah Talith alchemized and used the Akk dogs scales to set it in an overlaid to make up the hardest later of the armour. These ceramic scales are incredibly resistant to lightsabers, their ability to soak up thermal energy also makes them very effective against blasters.
Under the lightweight leather, VT Impact gel pads fit over the chest and shoulders. These protect the wielder where he is most vulnerable to fire from slug throwers or physical strikes from Sith swords. The impact gel offers exceptional protection, but is rendered useless by repeated strikes. It also containes the benefit of dispersing electricity, such as force lightning.
The armour is slightly more cumbersome than the Vanguard armour the Hounds are used to. However, it's considered that the additional protection is worth the trade off when lightsaber combat is expected. It still permits a good range of motion. On the downside the bright red scales in no way assist the wearer when attempting to stay out of sight. Camouflage fabric could be worn over the top if required. This armor has been force imbued through Jal Shey techniques with the ability to help the wearer to remain conscious longer and return to consciousness after sustaining an injury or effect that would knock them out.
The shield has a much tighter scale weave than the armour, which makes it almost impervious to a lightsaber and light blasters.
The helmet is much more modern in appearance. It's terentatek leather lined, but made of duraplast with an impact gel layer. It's light and affords the wearer the full range of movement required in a battlefield. The large glasteel front can be projected onto, for an intelligent battlefield augmented reality display to aid situational awareness. Only the information needed by the wearer is displayed in an unobtrusive fashion so as not to distract them. The helmet enables voice control of subsystems or of the comm system to change between channels.
Despite its appearance, an EMP shielded power and data bus runs around the suit, allowing any subsystems to take power from two power packs above the hips and communicate with each other or the wider tactical network. Jacen uses his to power a VT Grav glove and AI wrist blaster and charge his lightsaber. It will also communicate with Alliance weapons to read off power state and register ammunition and power packs on the belt. This allows the wearer and commanders on the tactical network, to monitor the combat state or be alerted when a resupply is required.
The suit provides a range of sensors that can be used as and when necessary. Acoustic sensors located in several places can be used to give the wearer a rough indication of direction for the source of loud weapons fire. Thermal/UV/lifeforms scanning can be overlaid on the display. The suit can also enter covert mode, where all active scanning and transmitting is cut to reduce probability of detection. All of these components have been coated with Plastiray and aren't disrupted easily by EMP/ Ion weapons as per the benefits of Plastiray - Substance.
Overall, the suit provides exceptional whilst not infallible protection in front line confrontation with Sith. The back of the next is relatively exposed to permit the wearer to fire a rifle whilst prone. Knee and elbow joints are relatively weak.
