Jack after his promotion to Senior Time Runner

Strengths & Weaknesses

+ Elite Noir Super Detective: Jack, as all members of the Shenraku Corporation's Time Runner Program, is cybernetically enhanced. However, what sets him apart is that Jack is the first subject of "Project Fringe Runner". This Shenraku initiative set out to create a breed of Time Runners who operate on the fringes of galactic society as they infiltrate, investigate and muscle their way through the criminal underworld. As such, Jack possesses superiorly upgraded strength as a pose to an average Time Runner but lacks the reflex and speed upgrades of the others. This is traded in for a slew of cybernetic brain implants that allow him to think quicker, think smarter and access information from the Holonet, interact with technology and even use augmented reality all with the blink of an eye and the spark of a thought.

+ "The Decker": Jack Briggs didn't become Jack "Decker" overnight. His nickname was earned through the mean right hook he throws with the cybernetic right arm given to him by Shenraku Corporation. With his enhanced muscle output, the cybernetic arm is capable of leveling your average human being with one wellplaced blow. It is also capable of deflecting slugs and taking blaster hits, giving him added protection.

- Time Is Running Out: Being one of Shenraku's many Time Runners, Jack is plauged by the Timechip an implant that sits on his spinal cord. This chip forces him to be almost contantly in search for the next convict to bring in or kill for more time on his clock.

- Mind Over Matter: Because of Project Fringe Runner, Jack does not have the same physical augmentations as the rest of the standard Time Runners. In exchange for more strength and a sharper mind, Shenraku spared credits on not giving him the speed and reflexes of other Time Runners. As his job leaves him rarely running after suspects, he lacks not only enhanced agility but is slow even by average human standards.

Appearance

Jack is a rugged individual with a five-o'clock stubble permanently plastered across his square jaw, one of many signs of his age, alongside his deep wrinkles and ragged, greying hair. Eyes as grey as cold stone speak of a lifetime of painful memories and cases he has seen over the course of his forty-year existence. Jack, however, is a prime example of an old way meeting a new and this becomes apparent when one comes close enough to touch his skin. Flashes of blue and pink neon light beckon strangers from under the surface, cybernetics set to enhance his body sitting right below the skin.

To cover up these intrusions made by Shenraku Corporation, Jack wears a brown, heavy cortosis-weave trenchcoat that hangs past his waist, the collar large enough to tuck his ears under its protection. Oliver colored cargo pants store his data-pad, cigars, lighter and any other number of other items he may find useful at the time. A standard utility belt hoists pouches and cases for ammunition and gadgets, his trusty Enforcer Pistol hanging by a under-arm holster on his right side. A black turtle neck hugs his skin, made from Echani-Fiber Armor that allows speed and flexibillity.

A tattoo rides up his left of the Coruscant City skyline, a badge of the Coruscant Police Force rising up from behind the skycrapers with a blue line underscoring it. On his left wrist is his Time Runner identification number. #1313

Biography

Jack was born on Corellia, but his family relocated to Coruscant early into his childhood after he father joined The Republic military on a promise for a better life for his wife and child. It was here that Jack was taught to be hard-headed and resiliant like a Corellian, but to show restraint and thoroughness like a Republican. Instead of seeking the adventure and risk that most Corellians do, he instead saught to follow in the footsteps of his father and serve a greater purpose in society. The military, however, was far too dictating for his liking so he instead saught out employment as a Police Officer of Galactic City.

He joined the force at sixteen and passed the academy with flying colors, earning his first beat in the undercity with a grizzled old officer named Rick Starland. Rick and Jake didn't get along at first but after a few hard busts and two years of cleaning the crime ridden streets of the Coruscant Undercity, the two became fast friends. The two eventually applied for detective positions together and both passed the exams with flying colors and were honored with promotion to the rank of detective.

The first case the two were put on was that of the "Life Day Napper" a kidnapper who stole children from their homes on Life Day Eve for reasons unknown to The Police. The investigation had no leads and no motives, but the two struggled day in and out to solve it before Life Day to stop the kidnapper before he could strike again. It seemed like the two were going to fail, until a tip came in on Life Day Eve from a Coruscanti resident that had seen Coruscanti Politican Hans Curtis, bringing cages and rope into his apartment in the dead of night and that he thought he heard screaming from within.

The two rushed to Curtis' home and found him sneaking in to his apartment with a young girl asleep in his arms. Curtis ran for the rooftop and Rick gave chase with Jack close behind. The three jumped from roof to roof and as Rick got within reach, The Life Day Napper turned with pistol in hand and fired a single shot into Rick's chest. The detective fell dead to the roof, blaster bolt having pierce his heart and killed him instantly.

Jack screaemd in rage and horror as his friend fell, but he knew that justice was a meal best served cold and revenge was the side dish. He left his friend after a dramatic pause and continued the pursuit. From rooftop to rooftop they jumped, Jack firing a single shot that ripped Curtis' hand off. The napper yelled in pain, dropping his pistol to the ground and taking a knee on the roof. Jack approached, telling him it wall all over.

Curtis just laughed, his eyes growing dark as he said the words that haunt him still to this day. "Are you fast enough, detective?" he laughed before throwing the young girl to her apparent death. Jack hurled himself toward the ledge, barely missing his chance to grab the girl as Curtis made his escape; never to be seen again.

Jack fell into a depression soon after, drinking heavily and taking on a wife in the form of a stripper he met at a club in the lower city. He lived an unhappy marriage and was fired from his job at the age of twenty-three. One night afterward, after a heavy day of drinking, he returned home to find his wife murdered. He called the police who, after a thorough investigation, found DNA evidence and apparent proof of his guilt.

His trial was short and after a four hour diliberation, the jury came back with a verdict for death. He would await execution for a year before an appeal landed him the oppertunity to get his sentence reduced. The judge on his final appeal to the court was a close friend with the owner of Shenraku Corporation and with a few strings pulled, Jack found himself off of death row and thrown into the Time Runner program.

He has served the Time Runners for eighteen years, earning the rank of Senior Time Runner of the Special Tasks and Operations Division. He is considered by many in the Time Runners and the galaxy at large as being one of the best detective minds that Shenraku, and perhaps Law Enforcement in general, has to offer. Now he and his trusted T3 companion, Roy, travel the galaxy to collect more time for his clock...
