Jaida is the daughter of Daska Tess, the infamous Ace TIE fighter pilot of the First Order. The "Ice Princess" as Daska was referred to commanded an elite squadron known as the 181st Saber Squadron and/or the "Sword of Kalast". Captain Tess was also tasked as a pilot for the Knights of Ren, flying their prototype stealth ship on covert missions for them.
Unfortunately, her mother's rise and fall were tied to the political winds of the Imperial faction. When Grand Admiral Kalast defected to the Galactic Empire, it tainted Daska through association. After the dust settled from the betrayal, Daska slowly faded to the backdrop of yesterday taking a quiet position at the First Order's Military Academy in Victoria on Dosuun as a flight instructor.
In the meantime, Jaida had been conceived and born; the father's identity unknown for Daska took the man's name to her grave, leaving the young Tess always wondering who it might be...
(The late Knight of Ren Jaron Lesan was her biological father it later was revealed.)
When the Ssi-Ruuvi Imperium invaded Dosuun and brought the First Order to her knees, Jaida barely survived the initial siege though her mother did not. As with many other survivors, the now orphaned teen eeked out an existence in the underground tunnels of Avalonia with the Resistance.
After the First Order finally took back Dosuun and recharted the Imperial faction, Jaida joined the military in service to her nation. Like her mother before her, she was chosen out of the cadet ranks to attend the coveted First Order's flight school and went on to become a highly-skilled TIE fighter pilot.
When Jaida made the rank of Flight Captain and was given command of Black Squadron, the First Order's elite TIE fighter squadron, she finally felt the chip on her shoulder slowly begin to disappear... But, it was to be short-lived; her squadron was decimated in Chiss space not soon after and she barely survived the carnage herself. Perhaps that is what plagues her most now - survivor's guilt.
The Battle of Csilla where the allied galactic factions tried to stop the Brotherhood of the Maw from annihilating the Chiss world with their superweapon ended in a devastating defeat for the First Order. They battled the Darkside cultists head-on in a horrific space battle in which Csilla was destroyed despite all efforts to deny the outcome. Most of the First Order fleet and other military assets including high-ranking officers were lost.
It wasn't soon after their return to the home sector that several key member worlds of the First Order began seceding after a vote of no confidence in the government. This started a domino effect with other planets within the cloud of influence leaving the once proud and powerful Imperial nation a shell of what it once was, again.
Jaida stayed as long as she could to help in her dutiful capacity, but finally, the Dosuun-born and Imperial at heart made the hard choice and left her homeworld to join their ally the New Imperial Order located on the opposite side of the galaxy, but near her late mother's homeworld of Bastion.
With the death of Emperor Rurik Fel, the staunch Imperial faction soon thereafter morphed into what is now called The Empire. And, from that point is where Jaida's story continues...
