Jaxton's First Experience with Online Dating

Jaxton Ravos

Mindwalker of the Outer Rim
[SIZE=8pt]The Silent Conclave, all in all, was a decision Jaxton Ravos made that he never regretted. He had a way to escape from the politics of Republic, to get rid of the Jedi who had distorted the Jedi Code to serve their purpose, and a chance to make, a chance to rekindle old friendships. A couple of the friendships he'd managed to rekindle were those of Seroth Ur-Rahn and Rosa Mazhar, friends he'd met when he gained entrance to the 'Adamant Company' of old times. Warriors assembled by Darron Wraith to fight the Sith, a sadly short lived operation. Still, he learned much, but the lessons didn't become clear until later on. The Jedi were becoming more militant than he'd hoped, and he'd been the last of the trio to see it for what it was.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=8pt]In any case, meeting with the two was excellent. He was glad to see that they had still remained the same, good people as they were when he had first met, though he was surprised to see that they had begun to kindle a little more than friendship between themselves. It was a little odd, to see Rosa with Seroth instead of Darron, but they were both happy, and he understood that things didn't always work out as they first seemed. He was immensely happy for them, but, truth be told he was starting to become a little jealous of Seroth. Not for being with Rosa specifically, but having . . . somebody. Jaxton was a father now, to a shapeshifting child he'd adopted, even named, and though he loved the girl and would do everything he could for her, he wondered if she'd he could raise her alone, without her having a maternal figure. Growing up he never had a father of his own, and while he'd turned out well enough in the end he had been a stim addict for years. He coudln't let that happen to her and . . . he was getting a bit lonely. Not that he didn't love hanging out with his little girl, but in the end she was a little girl, and teaching a mostly mute girl to speak was satisfying, but . . . monotonous. Perhaps that was his fault. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=8pt]In any case however, here he sat, alone at night, Kida put to bed, as he ran his fingers through a holoterminal. "Meetfunpeople.holo" was the site he found himself in, making a profile for. He began to type, not completely convinced of what he was doing, but hey, what did he have to lose?[/SIZE]

[SIZE=8pt]Describe yourself: Well . . . I don’t know. Grew up in the slums of Corellia, got a scholarship to go to Corellia Flight Academy and got out. Got into a bad crowd and spent a few years messing around before I joined the Republic’s Army. Served a few years, did some good things. Did some bad things too. Finally got sick of it and left around a year ago. Work for a War Relief non-profit now, helping out where I can. Found a little girl on a trip to Endor, no family, no home and took her in. It’s been wonderful but, at the same time it’s made me realize how much I’ve lost by putting so much of my life into my work, instead of into meeting new people, maybe even getting a family one day. All in all I guess I’m just looking for something . . . new. [/SIZE]

About a day passed since @[member="Jaxton Ravos"] uploaded his profile to “meetfunpeople.holo,” an objectively inferior site to “galactice-match.com” yet still one that managed to connect hearts. He received a message from a specific account within that time interval.

Hey there ;)

Hey Jared! I saw your profile. Looking hot <3
Been really looking for a man that knows responsibility. It’s cute to read you taking care of a girl. So few guys can even take care of themselves lol. And it’s amazing that you’ve made a commitment to the Republic and charity. Honestly, it’s amazing that a man such as yourself isn’t taken!
What kind of sports do you play? I play touch grav-ball with the girls on weekend.
Feel free to check out my profile! ;)

Describe yourself: From Coruscant! So, used to the whole big planet atmosphere there. Got a good education from a lot of help, so I decided I should give back to the community to help those that were like myself. It feels great :)

I love playing sports. The body is the foundation for the mind, after all!

Been single for a while. Trying out the online dating thing. Can’t wait to meet someone new!

Jaxton Ravos

Mindwalker of the Outer Rim
Jaxton Ravos went to bed for the night after finishing his little profile, and the next day logged on after taking care of his duties for the night. People worked fast it seemed, and he had already gotten a few messages. A few of them were a little too forward or unladylike for his tastes, a couple seemed a bit . . . nutty, while others looked like spam. He supposed when you put yourself out there for the entire galaxy to see that meant you'd get ton of replies, simply by sheer numbers of people. Eventually he came to read one message sent by advnturgirl812, or Jaella Vacilla, as the message would tell him. She complimented him, as seemed standard, but they weren't laced in to heavily, not overbearing. The "amazing you're not taken" line was perhaps a bit too much, but Jaxton, in his longtime singleness, was too dull to notice.

Deciding this one might be interesting he followed the link embedded into her name unknowingly going to @[member="Daella Apparine"]'s profile. Her picture seemed rather . . . princessy. He'd guessed it was a picture of her at some sort of dance function, whether that be some sort of college thing or perhaps even a high school prom dress he couldn't be certain. If it was a college thing it was probably just a good picture of her not in business clothes, if it was a high school photo it might have meant that she had let herself go since then. Still, the rest of the profile put an emphasis on fitness so that made such a thing more unlikely, and truth be told Jaxton wasn't looking for a 'babe' in any case anyways. If he was all he'd have to do was go to a couple of parties on Zeltros, but that wasn't really his scene. A smarter man might have realized the profile seemed a bit too compatible, but Jaxton was a gullible man, and often let his heart think before his mind. So, off his fingers went, into the holographic keyboard to write up a reply.

Hey there Jaella, thanks for the message. Grav-Balls probably the biggest sport for me, grew up a Rogues fan on Corellia. Played a ton in school, even a little in the Academy, but that was a while back. Now I mostly play some pick-up games around the gym here and there. Lotta fun and helps keep you healthy right? Do you follow any particular team yourself or do just like to play? Anyways, managed to get a look at your profile, looking good. Although, I must say you are(or were I guess) student than I. I took a couple of accounting classes but never woulda been able to get a degree in it. Too much math and numbers and kooky tax laws to keep up with. What inspired you to get into your field? Enjoy where you're working now? I'd like to get to know a little more about you.

The Admiralty
Being Lord of the Fringe was a hard job sometimes, finding something to occupy his mind took off stress though. It was for this reason that he decided to visit meetfunpeople.holo and have some fun, some might say it was a sad thing to do. Because signing up with a female account just to troll the people who actually wished to find love on the web? Who would do such a thing? Certainly not the respected and feared Jared Ovmar, at least that was what people would think. But the sad reality was different, Jared was still a teenager in this regard and as such he did not think that it could really hurt. Finally he found an interesting person on the page, with the same name he had! Now if that was not fate calling..

*waves* :)

Hi Jared! I don't usually do this, but a friend kinda forced me into it. So I figured why not give it a shot? I saw that you were in the military before, I love men in uniform. I don't suppose you still have it laying around somewhere? :$ I know how it feels like to grow up in the gutter, was born in the Understreets of Coruscant and it took me a long time to escape that place, so there is at least somebody who knows how you feel!

Anaya couldn't help herself, scrolling through dating sites brought her humor and reminded her that there were some people that were more desperate and pathetic in this world and that when she really thought about it, she was doing okay. Scrolling through her daily matches she came across a familiar face and her day became so much sweeter. Cackling madly to herself she began her message.

It's great you follow grav-ball as well, even play! I follow the Coruscant Royals. Sad how poorly they played this season :(. But, hopefully next year will be better! It's at least still fun to play :D

I got into accounting because I needed to find a career that would be of use to people. My artistic talents are blegh x_X And, I don't really have a mind for science. Accounting seemed to me to be more about following simple instructions, while there still being a need for people that knew about it. Plus, I didn't have to burden others with a lot of the cost of my schooling just to be certified on Coruscant.

I work for the Central Galactic Spacecraft Company. They make engines for civilian spacecraft. I just graduated and started working, so I still don't know how they do it. But, I at least got my coworkers to look into some community service projects. :D We'll be having a fundraiser to get food for displaced children from the war. Everyone's on board!

What's your job like? I see you work for a non-profit. What sort of projects does it have?

Hope to hear from you soon,

Jaxton Ravos

Mindwalker of the Outer Rim
The next day Jaxton would get to his holoterminal late at night and find a lot less kooky mail, but there was still some to sort through. One in particular was from a lady named Jara Ovmand(@[member="Jared Ovmar"]), who was a teacher, but didn't speak well, and then in her description was suddenly an actress for a movie that a couple of quick Googolplex searchs didn't confirm existed. All in all it seemed quite a bit odd, and the message itself he received seemed to focus on liking a military man, of which Jaxton wasn't. He had fought, and it was for the Republic, but he never really a 'soldier', and if she was looking for a soldier she'd probably want someone else anyways, so he deleted the message. Jaxton didn't enjoy that he had to be dishonest about his past, especially when he was trying to find people he could trust who would hopefully trust him, but precautions had to be made in order to make sure old fans, Republic men or Jedi coworkers couldn't find him.

Or a Sith woman he'd fought for that matter. Though she advertised herself as Fatty Anwen her hints at Roche as well as her profile picture made it obvious she was Moridin's old hand, Desmius's as well. She knew about his daughter now too, and was trying to use that as a threat, well, more to mess with him than threaten directly. Deciding to return the letter he began typing furiously.

RE: Hello Stranger
From: Jared Ravian(Corellia_Baller)
I'll be honest, when I first saw your message I considered blocking you. Deleting my profile. All that jazz. But then I realized if you don't enough people to mess with in real life that you're coming to mess with people here then you've lost your edge. Or perhaps you're less seductive than I'd expect of a Sith woman like yourself, and you need to get out here to compensate. In any case, while I'm not looking for another tussle with you I'm not afraid of one, but I'd rather get to know you a little better instead. I know who you are, and you know who I am. A few quick googolplex searches can tell you who I was before the Jedi as well, but I can't say I have the same advantage when it comes to you before the Sith. So, if I may be so bold, how did you spend your days before you started to study the Force?

-Jared Ravian

Jaxton finally wrote out before pressing send, getting the message to @[member="Anaya Fen"]. She'd betrayed him the last time he'd tried to help 'save her' from her sithly deeds, but that was a long time ago, they were on the run in an asteroid that was being bombarded, and they both had a clear goal that could be aided by physically stopping one another. While online they could be mere clicks away in contact, yet lightyears in distance, farther than Force Lightning or lightsaber to travel. There was little harm in trying to help her out now, and Jaxton could always block her later if he needed to.

Next up on his list of messages was a reply, or a reply of his reply rather. Jaella, unbeknownst to him @[member="Daella Apparine"], again the accountant who played touch grav-ball on the weekends. A little happy but not trying to get his hopes up he typed out a reply.

RE: RE: RE: Hey there ;)

Royals had a rough season this year. Hard to play well with injuries like that. They managed to draft that kid from Balmorra Tech though, and if everyone comes back healthy next year they should do well. I wouldn't worry too much about next season as long as everyone can stay healthy.

It's always nice to find a good way to help out, get out there in the world. Not wanting to burden others financially is a noble deed, and a respectable one. I can get not really feeling for arts or science. I've never managed a good painting myself, and the closest thing I can do to science now that I've been outta school a few years is plotting hyperspace routes. Most of what I can do is piloting, personal relations, and fighting, which I don't have nearly as much stomach for as I used to. Glad I managed to find a good non-profit job, otherwise I'd probably be a bouncer or a pilot somewhere or something.

My job changes from day to day really. We're a small time company, I'm one of maybe a dozen employees, so we don't really specialize, just do whatever's needed at the time. I'll be running a soup kitchen one day, trying to get housing for people another, working to get other companies to get supply runs of food and water to an impoverished sector another. Right now we're working at Nar Shadda, trying to help areas hit by the Suns-Republic skirmish and get some food to Refugee Sector, which has had a huge influx of people that got hit hard by the battle. After that we might be headed to Manaan or Ossus, maybe even Kayri. Trying to heal wounds as soon as they pop up. After fighting in a few battles myself I kinda gained a heart for those touched by it I guess.

Your fundraiser sounds pretty nice. Takes some initiative to get something like that going, not to mention getting your coworkers involved. I'm impressed you've managed to bring it all together, especially since you've started working with them. Coruscant's also a great place to have some fundraisers, with the huge population and lot's of bigwigs running around with their bigwallets because they want to be at the Republic's capitol. How are y'all planning on raising funds? Set a date for the fundraiser yet? It seems like you've got a good grasp on what you're doing, but I could try to give a few pointers if you'd like.

Eager to help

Simone drummed her fingers on the console as the Ugly Duckling drifted through hyperspace. She could hear her mother nagging her, telling her she needed to be more social but how could she be social? She'd set herself the impossible task of tarnishing the Republic's image and that required her full time and attention. She didn't have time to pop into a local bar and meet people...That was a lie, she did, she just chose not to. She looked at the holoimage of her mother, looking as high as ever and let out a long sigh, and began setting up her profile.

I am looking for: Friends mostly, want to meet new people that aren't on the other end of a microphone
Describe yourself: Jeez, I hate these things. Ok...I grew up on zeltron, had a love for the news and spent my life wanting to be a reporter. As I grew up i realized that people only report what the galaxy wants to here, so I made a point of doing the exact opposite. I suppose you could say I'm the reason most activists get up and start protesting. I want the world to see the truth. I'm not a fan of governments which helps a lot and I spend a HUGE amount of time in hyperspace lanes chasing stories. I love digging my way through a mystery and I have a natural thing with computers so slicing is one of my part time hobbies. I mean who doesn't like slicing into the governments top secret whatever to see what they're trying to hide. I'm kidding of course, I wouldn't be stupid enough to do something like that and then write about it. Yeah...anyway, no creepers or liars. Like I said before, i'm a slicer this site is a piece of cake to pull apart.

She read over her words and contemplated pulling out the part about slicing into government facilities, but then decided to go with her gut and let it fly. She flicked through suggested prfiles, skimming rapidlypas young mal zeltons with the party look in their eye. Then she froze, she knew that face. Scrambling through her datachips she shoved one into the holoprojector. It was the recent episode of 'Battle for Democracy'. Skipping through to where Maerys read out the names of deserters she froze the image. Behind her was the face of the man on the dating site.

"Jared Ravian you are so dumb." she muttered and began composing a message.

Umm...hi
From: Simone (TruthSeeker)
Hey Jared,
To say this isn't something I normally do would be both a lie and a truth. I don't normally go onto dating websites, this is my first time EVER. What I do do though is play close attention to the names and faces that are spoken and shown on TV shows that like to put their own twisted lies on the truth. Fact of the matter is this: I know your name is not Jared Ravian. I am not a threat nor an enemy. I would very much like to meet with you.

FYI: I suggest you remove your picture and if people ask why you haven't got one just say your not photogenic or shy or something. I mean jeez, if I can work out who you are so can the rest of the world.

I suppose I should try and keep this on the whole...online dating thing. You are, by far, the best looking zeltron on this site. ;)

Not enough people to mess with? Lol. you make it sound like i make a point of messing with everyone. I don't, just those few people whose reactions keep me entertained. Consider yourself honored to be among the small few. :p No one is looking for a fight, if I wanted a fight I would knock on Spencer's door. It seems we both have left the clutches of those who seemed so keen on holding us back. As to what I did before I studied the force...

Jaxton read the message from @[member="Simone"] (TruthSeeker), and noted her seemingly knowing who he was. Looking at her profile she seemed a reporter, not a Sith like the last person who'd recognized her(Or, at least claimed to rather), but he supposed that didn't mean a whole lot. Reporters could be dangerous in their own right, and anyone could claim to be a reporter. Still, she didn't seem too terribly dangerous, and she was trying to advise Jaxton rather than threaten him. Deciding she was right he changed his picture to something a little less transparent and sent her a message.

RE: Umm... hi
From: Jared Ravian(Corellia_Baller)
I wouldn't sell yourself short like that. Most people aren't reporters, and most reporters don't freelance slicing on weekends. In anycase, your advice is sound and I did change my picture. Hope you like it as much as the last one. I'm admittedly a bit rusty on dealing with media, but I suppose I could we might be able to work something out. All that depends on what you want to know and what you want to say though, I'm retired from my old work and I'd prefer not to be bothered by old ghosts if I can, so I don't want anything to bring a lot of attention to myself. If you can work with that, then perhaps we could arrange a meeting of some sort.

Well I'm flattered you still think me worth the time after it's been so long since we've seen each other. Then again I suppose we do have a little more history together than most old foes do. As for pain and darkness, did that really change after you joined the Empire? Did they manage to stop the pain, remove the darkness? I've not been in it obviously, but the stories I've heard seemed like they pushed more of it onto a person rather than stitch up the wounds. Or is that what you wanted? More darkness and pain? What made you join in the first place?

Easier on the eyes? You wound me :p As for a meeting, I suppose you're probably right on discussing business over here. Although, if you really can do what you say you'd probably get better stories looking for politicians with scandals over this site or a similar one than messing with me, but it's your choice I suppose. If you'd like to meet me then head to the capital of the floating cities, over the jungle that once for by champions, yet still desecrated by the followers of the one that lost. There’s a rumor about the Royals firing the head coach if he doesn’t have a good start to the season, though. He’s been alright, so I’m not sure if I should be worried or not :X

The fundraiser is next Taungsday. Just a couple days from now. We’re setting up a simple bake sale near a decent residential area. Already posted up banners for it in the area. Some of the ladies from production and the office were so excited to participate. Should work out well. It won’t be extremely huge, but it’s a start. I’m excited :D

The company says that if I want I should be the person in charge of bringing food to a camp on Ossus on Benduday. Then, I’ll have to head straight back to Coruscant. Busy week x_X

It sounds like you’ve already got a lot of experience with this, though, and with many different types of service projects. That’s awesome :D Though we already got most of our plans for this fundraiser set in stone, I’m open to any advice. Especially for what to do next. There’s always room for improvement. :)

Looking forward to hear back,

Jealla Vacilla

There are arguments both ways with the coach I guess. I'm inclined to give him a little more time because he's a young guy, and there's not a lot of talent out there in the coaching market right now. He should be back if y'all can get to the playoffs this year.

Banners are good. Get people to realize what you're doing, let them think and stew about helping out instead of getting it sprung on them. Sounds like between the company and the ladies in production/the office you've done a lot of organizing in house. How long it did it take you to get everything put together? How eager was your company to get out there and get things done? Did they already have charity-type stuff organized or did you have to start from the bottom up?

I got some sort of email saying that my picture file got corrupted. Trying to get it fixd, but it's slow going and the company is advising against it until they do a sweep of my profile. Weird.

Hoping everything goes well

I'm no longer a part of the Empire, you do the maths and answer those questions yourself, though with your tunnel vision I highly doubt you will find the right ones. I was bought from one service and 'freed' into another. Service is all I have known until I was exiled, now I have learnt to serve only myself. Careful how deep you dig Jaxton, the repercussions will not be in your favor.

Hey! Sorry for not replying yesterday. Got super busy X( Couldn't even keep up with the latest grav-ball news! And that sucks about your profile picture. :( It was pretty good.

Fundraiser is tomorrow though! Excited~! This is actually the first organized community service event for the company in a while. Took a month to plan - which is good if I say so! It'll pretty much just be me and a few part-timers holding it, though. But, it should go well! Got a bit of the baked goods already :D I'll be sure to tell you tomorrow how it goes.

Also, I don't mean to be pushy, but would you be free Benduday? I was thinking that when I go to Ossus, since you're working at Nar Shaddaa that it would be a quick hyperspace jump to the planet. I'm sure the Republic has secured travel at this point. I was thinking of showing you the fundraiser's success with the children :D And I think it'd be a great opportunity to meet up and talk a bit more about grav-ball and stuff going on with our jobs.

If it's too expensive or you have other plans, that's totally fine. I understand. No need for you to go out of your way for a stranger.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Fair enough, fair enough, don't get cranky on me. Just because we hate each other doesn't mean we have to hate each other. At least I think so anyways. If you'd prefer not to speak of the past that's cool, what would you prefer to talk about instead? What you're up to now? What I'm up to now(although I can't say that's been anything special lately)? How's Empireless life? Look like you got out at the right time.

Then he got around to replying the woman he didn't know was @[member="Daella Apparine"]. He had considering asking Daella if he could head over to the fundraiser, lend a hand, but with it being tomorrow he no longer had time to head over to Coruscant, and he didn't want to be pushy. Thus, when he got a message back from Jaella he was pretty happy to see that she was hoping to see him at Ossus. With a bit of a smile on his face he began replying, not even caring that he hadn't gotten a message the other day.

It's cool. People get busy, and you've got a lot going on with the fundraiser coming up. A month is really quick, along with playing grav-ball on the weekends, accounting by day, and baking by night? Not bad supergirl ;) I'm sure it'll go wonderfully.

Benduday? I've got something that morning, but I should be able to get there later that night. Even with the Republic stabilizing things I'll probably end up calling a sitter, don't want to take the daughter so close to old and current Sith territory. Can't be too careful with her. It'd be really nice to finally get to meet you in person and talk face to face. Where would you like to meet on Ossus? The Spaceport or somewhere else?

Hoping to see you soon

A day passed by before the next message arrived in @[member="Jaxton Ravos"]'s inbox. It was late. Benduday was to be the day after the next.

I'll still be at the camp at that time. It's near the new Jedi Temple and pretty much the only one for orphans. I've had a haircut since I had my profile picture taken, though, so keep an eye out for a blonde with some shorter hair ;)

How are things with your daughter, by the way? You mentioned her in your profile but I haven't heard much. I bet she's a cutie. :)

The fundraiser went great, by the way! We sold out before lunch x_X Didn't expect it to be that popular!

See you, hopefully!

Jaxton returned @[member="Daella Apparine"]'s Email, though was a bit uncomfortable that the meeting location would be so close to the Jedi Temple. He didn't want to have to deal with any uncomfortable questions, so he'd have to remember to hide his Force Signature when he got there.

Shorter hair, got it. Girl's doing okay. Nar Shadda still scares her a bit, but I've been keeping track of her and the other guys have pitched in to make sure she feels safe. It's gotten a lot better than it was when we first got here. There was a little run in with one of the smaller gangs, but some of the other veterans and I in the group managed to run them off and while it was scary for her she'd been a lot more trusting since then, so she believes we can protect her now. Kinda cool to see her warm up to everyone and gain confidence. Glad to hear the fundraiser went well. Can't wait to see what you do with it on Ossus.

Be seeing you soon

And after he was done typing that out and pressing Send he called his good friend @[member="Seroth Ur-Rahn"]. He didn't pick up, so Jax decided to leave a message.

"Hey Seroth, it's Jax. I know you and Rosa still have a day or two before you get back from your trip, but I need to call in a solid. I uhh, well I kinda signed up for this thing on the holonet, and one thing kinda lead to another, and . . . well I'm going on a date on Benduday. It's in Ossus, so I'd rather not bring @[member="Kida Ravos"], as I don't want to bring her so close to Sith Territory, especially after she got scared on Nar Shadda. Don't know how she'd react in a place so heavy in the Force. It should only be a day or two, and I'll be sure to keep quiet while I'm out. I'll leave some nerf meat in my fridge and some charcoal for the grill. Sneak some spices and vegetables into her meals if you can, but she'll only eat meat if she knows what she's doing. If she gets tired of nerf I have some fish in the freezer, but I haven't managed to cook or clean it yet. Thanks a lot Seroth, I needed this."
