Jedi Aide Request

On the world of Shri-tal lives an ancient hunter of creatures adept in the force. They are tuned to the dark side of the force, hiding in locations steeped in the dark side of the force when they are not hunting. With recent Sith activity through the galaxy on the rise these giant force hunters were starting to come out of hibernation. It had been so long since they had been active on this planet that their population on this remote world had been allowed to grow out of control. These Terentateks were becoming a danger to the local population even in some of the more sizeable cities and with the recent fall of Coruscant the beasts had become even bolder, hunting for and feeding on anyone with even a weak bond with the force.

The local security forces and military forces had made attempts to capture and destroy the beasts but so far with little effect, in fact all efforts so far had resulted in causalities beyond acceptable limits so a request was made through the military channels up to the office of the Emperor and out through the diplomatic channels to their allies and partners in trade on Voss. The Silver Jedi would be receiving a request for assistance with the threat these massive beasts represented. The hope was that with the assistance of some Jedi these beasts could be culled and the threat to the local population lowered but only time would tell how the Jedi would respond to the request.

On Voss the Antarian Rangers not currently deployed were getting some free time most of them opting to spend that time training themselves. Vladimir was among them he had recently officially transferred from the Sixth Battalion, he still went back to his squad mates to assist when it was required but he was more comfortable here training with the Rangers. He had a lot more freedom here, his skills were his responsibility and he didn’t have the burden of command to contend with as he was low man on the totem pole so to speak. Stepping up to a target the Hapan soldier extended the stock on his Westar M-5 blaster rifle he brought the weapon to his shoulder peering down the sight at the target 200 meters ahead of him. He relaxed and gently squeezed the trigger the shot ringing out and destroying the target easily.

Working with the Jedi had brought benefits Vladimir had never anticipated he was much more relaxed in their presence and though he had no gift in the force he felt his own skills were enhanced by the soothing aura most of them exuded. He even found to a certain extent his stomach was less volatile in hyperspace then it had been previously though he was still unsteady coming out of hyperspace he didn’t lose his lunch as often. He still had trouble interacting with most females his Hapan heritage to blame for that but so far he had found ways to work around it. He didn’t long for home but he didn’t want to forget where he came from either and those he worked with were often accepting of his culture which he found that much more relaxing.

As Vladimir took another shot he heard the chirp of his comm sitting on a nearby bench, the target down the range exploded into a number of tiny fractured pieces. Vladimir lowered the weapon and set it to safe as he reached over to his jacket on the bench rifling through his pocket looking for his comm unit. He pulled it out and answered quietly, “Kirov here.”

“Lieutenant we have an assignment for you, report to HQ for details.” A voice on the other end he didn’t recognize ordered.

“Understood.” Vladimir signed off and packed up his gear pulling his jacket on leaving the range behind, it wasn’t a long hike from there to headquarters and it didn’t take the man long to get there.

Stepping into the rather modest headquarters of the Antarian Rangers Vladimir reported in at the desk, he was instructed to go to the office of Ranger Captain Mordo Valorous. He knocked before stepping into the room. “Vladimir Kirov reporting.”

“Take a seat Lieutenant.” The Bothan officer instructed, his head still buried in paperwork, he was apparently quite a busy man. “Your assignment is on the desk in front of you, review it and prepare to depart at 18:00 hours.”

Somewhat surprised by the abruptness and brevity Vladimir picked up the file and started reviewing it, he was being assigned to an entire team of Rangers departing for the nearby world of Shri-tal, apparently they had requested aide from the Silver Jedi Order. Looking through the names listed in the file that were already assigned to the team the Hapan man noted not a single member of the team was even mildly force adept.

“Will any Jedi be joining us on this mission sir?” Vladimir asked plainly.

“That is for the Jedi Council to decide Lieutenant, for now your team is what you see in the file, you are in command.” Valorous replied.

“Very well sir.” Vladimir stood up and left HQ.

Stepping back into the sunlight Vladimir put his sunglasses on, he crossed out of the compound where more Rangers were training. He would need to consult the Silver Jedi Archives for information on the beasts that were causing so many issues for the locals. He wasn’t familiar with these Teretateks at all but no doubt if they were causing as much trouble for the local military forces to seek the assistance of the Jedi they must be fearsome beasts. He stepped into the Library Sanctum, it wasn’t often that Rangers entered these halls but they were welcome to the information contained within them just as much as any Jedi. The Hapan Lieutenant stepped up to a terminal and took a seat, he began his search quietly, he had a few hours before he was scheduled to join the rest of his team on the tarmac he would spend it wisely getting as much information as he could.

Sitting in the Library sanctum Lieutenant Kirov read voraciously about the target they would be seeking out and every report concerned him more and more. He found hundreds of records from Jedi hunting these creatures over the centuries, he also saw how many of those hunts had come up unsuccessful due to the elusive nature of these beasts. One thing he did note was these creatures appeared to be attuned the darker aspects of the force hibernating for years on end as if waiting for the Sith and their allies to come out of hiding and expose their power to the galaxy in mass. No doubt recent Sith activity had brought these massive hunters out of their centuries long slumber.

As he kept reading making more notes as he tried to compile a list of weaknesses but all accounts were vague at best and those that were more complete only described the creatures strengths; it’s relative immunity to force powers, it’s strong dorsal plating, it’s massive tusks and it’s deadly claws. The power of a Rancor in a smaller more compact form, the creature seemed to be designed to hunt Jedi with its sensitivity to their powers and its tendency to hunt force users. That could be considered a weakness of a sort, with the right lure it was likely they could draw one of these hunters into a well-established kill zone. The unfortunate part is that lure would have to be sensitive to the force and none of those assigned to his team were even remotely sensitive, nor was he. Ideally Vladimir would enlist the assistance of a Jedi or two. Realistically he could probably locate some force sensitive inhabitants of Shri-tal but that would be putting those they were charged to protect into a dangerous situation where he could not guarantee the outcome. Jedi were trained to deal with problems like this and more often than not were willing to assist in the defense of innocents.

His crono signalling Vladimir glanced at it noting the time, he had been reading longer then he thought he was scheduled to depart soon and none of his gear was assembled and he hadn’t even met with his team. Downloading a copy of as much data on the Terentateks as he could to his datapad the Hapan man left the library quietly only breaking into a jog once he had cleared the front doors. He needed to get back to his bunk, stow his gear and get it loaded on the transport before his team assembled on the landing pad.

Arriving back at his bunk the Lieutenant pulled his footlocker out from underneath, he had his armor already stowed there and he hadn’t signed his weapons back into the armory yet so he simply slung the blaster rifle off his shoulder stowing it beside his armor. He wasn’t sure he was going to need the armor yet he still had more research to do but everything he had read so far suggested he would be better suited by the mobility offered by a lighter set of armor then he normally sported. It didn’t matter he would bring it along just in case, better over prepared then under prepared. Sealing up the footlocker and securing it again he loaded it onto a cart to haul to the landing pad.

Twenty or so minutes later Vladimir was on the landing pad waiting for his team to assemble, two full squads of rangers. No doubt they were all quite skilled as they would have to be to have made it this far and to have been accepted as a ranger but their experience within the ranks of the Antarian Rangers was limited none of them had ever operated outside a ranger fireteam and not a single one of them held a rank superior to his own. That didn’t matter though, as long as they were good at their jobs. Command had put this team together with their mission in mind at least, a couple heavy weapons experts, a couple medics and a mixed bag of expertise otherwise. A few of them had experience as hunters in their prior careers and that would certainly be useful. He hoped that they would be able to enlist some assistance from the military personnel on Shri-tal as well, to setup a long term hunt of these beasts so they could keep the population under control so they wouldn’t threaten the locals anymore.

Watching the rest of his team assemble Vladimir couldn’t help but wonder who if anyone that Council had dispatched to join them. Certainly they would be responding with their own solution to the problem as the inhabitants of Shri-tal had become so reliant on them for protection over the years.

After the council had decide her fate. She had been given this task to help on the mission. It wasn't until she had gone back to her room. That just happen to be the green house on top of the temple. Didn't really care for any of the rooms down below. Beside this let in more light. Soaking up the sun rays that dance playfully acrossed her own skin. Couldn't help but smile upon this. As she let herself flow in the force with all the planet life that was around her.

Taking on as the caregiver of these planets. They had became a part of her now through a strong force bond to her love of nature. All in the force she respected every plant life and creature. Along with every human life good or evil they all had a reason of being a part of this galaxy as leaning with age and wisdom of all these matters. All things need balance just like plant life itself. One could be deadly but with in its reach was the way to over come such deadliness.

As she started to gather up what would be need for the mission. Making a few seeds from different plants all having their uses. Either for the aid of healing or for defenses of one way or another. As she once again put her old Akk skin leather back a cross her shoulders. Letting herself walk away to the top of the stairs that would take her out of the temple to the landing pad. Only then did she receive a message that one of the newest healers of the temple still in training as a padawn would been coming along with her to aid if need to be in the healing if anything would happen or go wrong. Shaking her head as to the last mission they was on finding that creature all came out of it just find. Why would she have to take along a second healer.

It wasn't for her to question it was for her to do what need to be done. As she was suited up in her sliver jedi robe but also having some other protection on her. Flowing along until reaching the pad. Looking down at the pad and information given to her about the leader of this mission. With out even thing going up to him to introduce herself to him.

Greetings [member="Vladimir Kirov"] I'm Jedi Knight Maya Whitelight, one of the healers of the temple.", giving him a small peak on the cheek, with being meaning for friendly and also greeting.

The world was a place of wonder and excitement that she had found few other places. Knight had come because it was easier to do to help the silver jedi and well she liked keeping her skills sharp. The order helped her with force skills and to keep her skills sharp. She didn't want to get weaker behind a desk in the Protectorate which while she enjoyed being an Exarch and enjoyed helping the people she was still young, still wanted to go out and make mistakes or do things. There just wasn't many things in Omega space that provided a chance to really spread her wings (literally at times) and explore the galaxy. Learn all she could and that was what brought her here to help the interesting Tals. "And I am Knight." A smile on her face while her hand stucked the hair behind her ears.

Hearing people approaching Vladimir turned in time to see both women stop and introduce themselves. He blushed ever so slightly when [member="Maya Whitelight"] kissed his cheek in greeting, he was not accustomed to such familiarity. He cast his eyes downward in respect as he addressed both women. “I am glad the Council sent you both to join us, everything I have read about these beasts suggest that this will be a difficult hunt.”

Vladimir glanced at their shuttle quietly and then back at the ground in front of the women. “I believe our ride is ready, my team will need a few minutes to get loaded up. We could use your help unless there is something else you need to accomplish before we depart.”

Being a soldier within the Silver Jedi Order was a difficult thing. The warriors that wielded their glowing sticks of imminent pain usually targeted beings that possessed the dark side, namely Sith. Now, Ace here was deathly afraid of Sith, and it was only once in a while that one had the opportunity to face something other than the force wielding maniacs. The troop transport that he had flown in on was rather crowded, filled with lots of soldiers, who specialized in lots of things. The landing pad would be barraged with kinetic energy as the engines slowly began to deactivate, setting the craft down gently. Ace was never big on taking orders, but it was something he'd have to get used to until he rose through the ranks.

Remaining silent, the soldier would simply wait for his orders to be given.

Sitting in a small field Siather was cross legged quietly meditating, he had spent the majority of the morning training so the meditation was serving to calm his body and mind, restoring the energy he had expended earlier in the day. He focused on the living force, visions from the force flowed through his mind giving him direction. Though he was only a padawan he had spent much of his early life preparing to be a findsman which drew on some of the same skills as the Jedi used to interpret visions so they could ultimately hunt down whatever target they were directed to find. This same training gave him a leg up putting him at the same level as padawans of similar age and though he was well behind in other force skills he had worked diligently on those abilities since arriving on Voss.

As the mists in his mind cleared his newest task became apparent to him, a mission to a nearby world plagued by a dark threat. The force wasn’t any clearer then that about its intent for the young Gand. He would have to figure the rest out for himself. Rising from his seat in the field Siather returned to the temple to find a team assembling on the nearby landing pad. His vision became clearer as he looked at the team. He approached quietly behind the other Jedi allowing them to introduce themselves first.

“Gand will be joining you as well, you may refer to this one as Siather.” The Gand stated as he bowed slightly to Maya and the soldier.

Making a small bow [member="Vladimir Kirov"] of understanding to get his troops that would be going with them on this mission. As she let herself go into the ship that would carrying. After which time she could feel the ripples in the force but what where they about. To have herself close her eyes as those around busy themselves with supplies and what else needed for such a trip like this.

Opening her own eyes after which time she was looking up to see the one that had made echo in the force. Giving out a smile upon her lips. Knowing that the two solider with her at all time. They had geared up and after which time. "Greetings Siather, I would enjoy your company.", after which time couldn't help this but after which she was glad to have both Siather and Knight with them on this mission for their troops. Knight looked at the transport and she spoke witha grin. "No nothign really needed just." She hefted the heavy bolter, even shifting to reinforce her body so she could lift it had her grin on her face. "This will stop a Krayt dragon with a few shots in its tracks. Made to go through heavy walkers and tanks." That her her smile on and the special bolter with explosive ammo had her walking carefully until she stood there with the others. "And I have other skills few things can handle in a pinch."

Turning his attention back to his men as the Jedi loaded up onto the shuttle Vladimir spotted [member="Ace Thrakish"] waiting for orders, another soldier would certainly be a welcome addition. He hadn't worked with any of these men but he had no doubt they would prove an asset. "Ok boys, stow the gear so we can be on our way."

Vladimir grabbed a few duffel bags and started hauling the gear up the ramp into the cargo area that was setup while the Jedi seemed to assemble in the passenger area. He wondered what it would be like to simply float gear up the ramp into the ship without all the effort they were putting in but the thought passed as another soldier marched up the ramp with more gear, they formed a sort of chain gang hand-bombing the gear up into the ship quickly. Vladimir looked at Ace as the last of the gear was loaded up. "If you would be so kind as to inform the pilots we are ready to depart so we can be under way. The longer we delay the more potential that someone gets attacked by one of these beasts. I want to get this hunt started as soon as possible so we can prevent the loss of more innocent life."

After lifting a large crate up to another soldier, Ace would turn from the loading ramp, giving his attention to his superior officer, [member="Vladimir Kirov"]. The man's arm would rise from his sides, allowing his gloved hand to form a salute above the T-visor he wore. "Right away, sir." The veteran soldier would say, quickly jogging towards the other side of the ship. Climbing into the transport, Thrakish would make his way through the brief halls, until he stood in front of the cockpit's door. Pressing a few buttons on the wall console, the door would slide open, allowing the man entry. Placing a hand on the pilot's shoulder, the man would speak, "Prep the ship for take off, three minutes to be safe."

The pilot gave the man a nod, as the ship began to hum to life, it's engines warming up as the last of the supplies were loaded on. Hopefully everyone was on board, for the transport was ready to go.

As the last of the gear was loaded onto the ship and [member="Ace Thrakish"] returned from the cockpit to indicate he had informed the pilots it was time to depart Vladimir set his own gear to the side as he took a seat. The flight to their destination wouldn’t be long at least but he wouldn’t have any privacy through the trip so he would have to focus that much more on keeping his stomach quiet during the hyperspace transit. He felt the small shuttle lift off as the rest of the team got settled into their seats and already he was feeling queasy. He leaned over and stared at his feet breathing slowly but he already knew he was doomed to reveal his little secret to a lot of people this day.

As the shuttle reached orbit Vladimir stood up and moved to the cockpit, at least there would be fewer witnesses up there. Of course some of his companions here were force sensitive so no doubt they would sense his distress regardless but at least the Rangers under his command wouldn’t see him weakened before they had to go into a dangerous and potentially deadly situation with him. He grabbed an empty container, leaned into the bulkhead and waited for the ship to accelerate to hyperspace.

As the pilots accelerated hard up into hyperspace he felt dizzy and uneasy and suddenly he couldn’t hold it back any longer. The unfortunate part was he didn’t have a refresher to visit in the small shuttle, it wasn’t designed for longer trips. The pilots looked back just in time to see him lose his lunch into the container he had grabbed. He leaned back and wiped his lips as he sealed and disposed of the container looking at the pilots. “Carry on, let me know when we are close.”

Returning to the back of the ship Vladimir took a seat, his complexion was whiter than normal and it was clear enough to even a casual observer he wasn’t well but none of the rangers raised the subject. The Hapan man looked at them all, now was as good of a time to brief them as any. “I don’t know how much you were all told before you joined this mission but apparently the inhabitants of Shir-tal are suffering an assault by ancient sith creatures known as Terentateks. I don’t know how much you know about these beasts but all my research indicates they are extremely dangerous Jedi hunters. Our immediate goal is to thin the herd so to speak but our ultimate goal is to establish a pattern the local authorities can utilize to keep this threat at bay and perhaps generate a new source of income for them at the same time.” The Hapan man covered his mouth with his fist clearly swallowing something back before continuing. “Anyone have any questions?”

Atlas had been on Voss for a galactic standard week, but had only cleared for duty three hours ago.
He had spent the week performing test after test due to the fact that when he showed up to join the Antarian Rangers, administrative personnel had not been able to find a file on him. This was due to the fact that no file existed for the soldier. It took a week to navigate the red tape and test Atlas' abilities. During the tests, Atlas scored above the charts on most categories as he was engineered for combat. The his origin though was unknown, even to Atlas himself. He specialized in long, and short range combat, making him an ideal sniper, or a close range combatant.

Something else was discovered during the week of testing which caught the attention of several, and was the primary reason he was selected for this mission. Atlas was dead to the Force. He was unable to be sensed by anyone, even of Master level. Which also made him immune to any of its effects. This helped in fast tracking him through the rigorous tests and cleared for combat.

He had reported for duty, and had helped in the loading of the gear and now sat in the shuttle.
His gear was stowed, though he carried his personal sidearms on his person. He had signed out a anti-material rifle for this mission, as he hoped it would punch through the thick hides of the legendary creatures that they were assigned to eliminate.
Atlas was not afraid. Fear was not something he really had experienced, it wasn't part of his genetic make up. To him, this was a mission, and he would see it done.

It felt good to be back in the rank and structure of the military. Since he had woken up in a bacta tank with no memory, he had spent some time with the more casual spacers. Combat was his arena and where he felt the most comfortable.

Taking a seat on the shuttle as the Rangers finished their preparations and loaded the last the last of their equipment the Gand quietly observed them all, he sensed the determination in each of them except for a few. The commander of their expedition seemed to be suffering from some kind of affliction as they rose towards orbit Siather could feel the man’s uneasy stomach grow worse as they entered hyperspace. He wondered why anyone would continually subject themselves to that kind of torture as it was quite apparent the man suffered from some form of hyperspace sickness and he likely had to travel around quite a bit to serve with Jedi. It had to take a lot of fortitude or foolhardiness to put yourself through that every time you travelled, either way the Ranger had his respect.

The other being he that puzzled him, perhaps more than the Hapan man and his space sickness was the man he couldn’t sense at all, it was very disconcerting to the Gand but he didn’t mention it at all. Siather looked at the Hapan man again as he spoke up giving instructions, this was going to be an interesting hunt. He had not hunted anyone or anything since leaving his home world. He had been training to be a findsman when he had been discovered by a visiting Jedi and his entire world view rapidly changed. It would be good to practise some of those old skills but he got the sense that it was more likely they were going to be the prey not the predators. He just hoped that they would be able to bring the threat of these Terentateks to an end.

Seeing as there was no questions to be asked Vladimir nodded. “Very well, it won’t take us very long to get there. Do whatever you feel is necessary to ready yourselves for this, this is going to be a tough hunt.” Taking a seat again Vladimir focused on resting his uneasy stomach.

Later as they exited hyperspace Vladimir started organizing his own gear this was going to be interesting to say the least. As the ship dropped into orbit and descended to the surface his stomach settled, he was ready. Standing up at the rear hatch just as the ship set down he opened the ramp. “Ok folks, pack up the gear and get it ready for transport. I am sure the local authorities will be anxious to get going.”

Dismounting from the shuttle Vladimir came face to face with a high ranking member of the planetary militia, he had a small escort. The man stood at attention looking at the obvious Jedi members of their expedition. “Thank you for coming to our aide master Jedi, we are grateful for your assistance, we hope you will be able to help train our people to prevent future issues.”

Atlas set to work unloading the gear and preparing it for transport to their command post. He noticed the curious glances he received from the other members of his squad. He was new, and literally thrown on to this mission with no introductions. This squad was established had worked together before. A new addition to the squad would cause any to scrutinize.

Atlas kept himself busy. There was plenty to do, and Atlas continued to unload gear until he was ordered differently.
