Jedi Dueling Tournament! Marakos V Vaashe

It was the day, Jedi were coming in from all across the galaxy for the dueling tournament. While a good number signed up, many more were showing up for the networking and rest-and-relaxation that such a tournament would provide for such an event. Setting up a number of arenas around the Temples on (Praxeum World), the Jedi Praxeum was hosting Jedi from all walks to duel for eternal glory.

Or bragging rights and whatever the Jedi Artisans could cook up in their labs. Coren Starchaser, one of the figureheads of the galaxy’s Jedi, was, almost obviously, at the center of the tournament’s idea, but would only be stepping in as an alternate. He had pieced together groups into brackets based on Jedi rank and not necessarily skill levels.

What he had were several rings set up for Masters, Knights, and Padawans to go toe-to-toe. Rules were simple, compete for the time allowed, and anyone who gets knocked down is out. Step to the side, and let the contest continue as others advanced. There would be a benefit for all who participated by the end, but those who rose to the top would earn a few items.

What was happening before the tournaments, was ensuring that armors were removed, any imbued items were removed, and general sparring outfits were granted. From bodysuits, to robes, to other workout gear. Rows of training melee weapons were set up. If someone had a preferred melee weapon? They’d find the mundane, training variant here. Jedi Sentinels from Starchaser’s influence were approaching of the outdoor combat zones. Each were set up to provide enough room to spar, but no real environmental challenge.

[OOC: This thread is is for the Match with [member="Drystan Marakos"] versus [member="Asaraa Vaashe"]]

The pink-haired girl closed her eyes, feeling the heat of the sun beating down on the flesh of her upturned face, she could see the light of the sun through her eyelids as she lowered her head, sucking in a deep break as she stretched her arms out in front of her. The girl's eyes never opened, the rest of her sense turned up as she let her arms stretch up into the air before they dropped back to her sides. Smoothly she threw herself into a training kata, stretching out as she worked out each of her muscles, limbering up for the fight that was coming. Thankfully she'd seen her opponent fight, the bad news, she'd seen [member="Drystan Marakos"] fight before. Asaraa had few misconceptions about herself, she knew that she was more than a match for anyone near to her level, but this would be a fight that might push her. A smirk appeared on her face as she let herself sink down to the ground, lightsaber floating away from her belt to orbit her head as she sank into the force, pulling on its energies to wash over her, drawing the energy into herself until she felt she couldn't take a single breath more of it, floating there on a sea of energy that stretched out as far as the mind could sense.

Drystan arrived, throwing [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] a grin as the blonde Jedi shrugged off her robes, tossing them onto a small bench nearby. The air smelled fresh & green, and the warm sunlight caressed her flesh... making her hair shimmer. She took a few moments to stretch, preparing herself for the duel.

When she felt she was ready, she stepped into the circle which would be their own little patch of ground for the duration of the battle. "May the Force be with us both." She said, before the lightsaber she wore in the thigh rig on her left leg was ripped from its' holster, slapping into her palm with speed & power. The curved hilt fit her hand perfectly, and a bright violet blade sprang forth with a snap-hiss - the power had been reduced to render the weapon safe for training.

Drystan brought the shimmering blade up, bisecting her body & offering Asaraa the salute of a duelist... then sweeping the blade low, angling it toward the ground & behind her. She was ready.

The Jedi rose gracefully to her feet, eyes not opening as she reached out to pluck the rotating lightsaber out of the air as it orbited her body. Asaraa shuffled her feet back into a ready position, her lightsaber held out behind her, as she flicked it on the familiar thrum of the blade cutting through the air as she swept her blade up into a vertical hold for a moment, returning the duelists salute as the grinned behind it, the light of her blade dancing across her pink hair, before she returned her blade into a position behind her, angled down at a 45 degree angle.

Slowly the Knight approached her, feet gliding along the ground, her motions smooth as she circled her opponent, the silver blade of her lightsaber lashing forward in a series of light jabs to test her blonde Jedi's defences as she struck out, the tip of her blade probing high and low, left and right.
