Jedi Force-Ghosts?

So I've been thinking about bringing back Aria's parents as NPC Force-Ghosts to introduce a new storyline. Thing is, ideally they're both Jedi Masters. I know you can get Master-level NPCs approved if you have a suitably in-depth application and dev thread, but what I don't know is what exactly goes in the dev thread. Is it just descriptions of them training? Is anything different if they're ghosts?

Anyway, if any Codex judges and/or people who've subbed Master-level NPCs could offer some advice on making the dev thread, that would be brilliant.

If the NPC have powers that your going to use in competitive pvp then a Codex will be a need but otherwise for story it the Force Ghost thing is fine.

Codex isnt mandatory at all. Just looks fancy

More that they'd be at Master level and would also potentially help further Aria's training, but I get what you're saying and no, I didn't plan on using them for pvp purposes.

So if they helped improve Aria's current abilities instead of teaching her new ones or something, would it not need a submission? And when making the dev thread, what exactly are you supposed to put in it? I'm just confused as to the specifics.

Thanks!

Worst Ghost in the Galaxy
In general, most devs threads for codex stuff are sent explaining what happened and why soemthign is the way it is. For something like a ghost, there's several ways to do it, but you're probably going to work in the past tense. Here's some spitball ideas of how you could lay it out:

  • A series of flashbacks, including their marriage, promotions, victories, and ending with their death.
  • A museum or archive entry regarding them
  • A present-tense conversation with them as ghosts. Which, honestly, could be fun, I'd probably do that one, but I'm weird.
  • If you want to be a smart-aleck, make their story one that was adapted into a hit movie/book or something, and use that for ammo.
  • Tell it like a story around a campfire. It sound funny, but I enjoyed doing dev that way for Funky's super-weapon.

The thing you need to remember about Dev threads is that they primarily have to be related to what you're writing about, and justify the things your subject can do. Other than that, have fun with them if you write them.
