At the end of the twin auctions, the jedi Master Matsu Ike had acquired several materials and enough to work on preforming a request for the Silver Jedi. While still much with the order she preferred the freedom and acceptance her former student offered so creating the zirconianfire crystals for them and a plain dyed outfit the silver order could wear was the least she could do. Then some of the extra and more illustrious materials that came with some from Akure leather works in the form of Glistaweb a biocloth from the vong.
The bid of rare and highly expensive vine silk brought something few other things could, the price of a single dress created going up to 30% of a planets economy and with her free time, some students from the explorer corps and a datapad. Matsu went to work with it using the same methods in the more common and easier to produce robes that would cover the rest of those in the order. The first step was a sheet of vine silk stretched and white by charcoal.
The designs are hand drawn for each kimono with aobana the extracted flowers and plants, it is there and will disappear in the process of dying. The design is made to fit the entire bolt of the silk and then traced with stitches created from a dye resistant plastic thread. The threads are pulled tightly, wound three times and secured with a double knot, the areas that puff up are surrounded by plastic sheets then secured with plastic binding thread. These parts of the fabric remain safe in the dying process.
The sheet is cut along side the single bolt of silk/cloth 36cm wide and 11 metres long for two individual parts of the outfit. The sheet pieces are then resewn into a single piece long piece and set within a dye bath, synthetic dyes lightly color it while hand painting in the exposed area's. The steamed and washed before being steamed again. The second time to protect the dyes it is set with sheets over it around the box at one hundred and eighty degree for ninety minutes. To make sure the dyes were set in properly the process redone ten times.
The fabrics are washed again to remove excess dyes and redyed (as silk can only hold so much at a given time and repeating makes sure it is thorough. Reeds from the lakes around Tython are used to stretch the material to keep it taut before it goes into a room with good ventilation for for several weeks. The process of washing, stretching, dying and sewing it repeated upwards of thirty times. While the cloth is taut the designs are colored, shaded and hand drawn by the jedi.
The entire piece then has the stitches taken out and it is measures to the one being given it. Their exact measurements and with seven panels each extending up the front, over the shoulder and down the back - create the body, two the sleeves, two more the overlaps, and a narrower panel the neckband. Hand stitching with silk threads that will blend in with the colorful design. Once it is all done the kimono is pressed and folded to be given as a way to cover operational expenses and to help fund the Republics war effort against the One Sith.
The additional materials used by the jedi have been factored in, robes and cloaks to provide protection, ascetics and utility, even the incorporation of armored pieces for protection is possible after selling at the wearers expense. The kimono's that are made from vine silk are hand made to order and extremely limited only going to only a few. With offers to the enigmatic redhead Danger, the mysterious owner of Akure who supplied the materials to make a glistaweb version that is a gift to Kiskla Grayson.
