STRENGTHS
+ Intelligence/Cunning: Jerolme considers his mind to be his greatest asset. He is calculating and manipulative, always seeking ways to get the upper hand in a situation. Likewise, whenever he meets someone, he evaluates them to see how he should "play" them.
+ Charisma: As a politician, Jerolme is capable of putting on a good show in public. His public persona is that of a charming, kindly old man.
+ Financial Means: Jerolme was born to a rich family and is thus endowed with great wealth and connections. This has been enhanced by a number of shady deals that he has made.
+ Education: Jerolme is well-educated and highly knowledgeable on galactic affairs.
+ Military Training: Jerolme was once a member of the Republic military. To this day, he retains the ability to wield a blaster and administer basic medical treatment, and still possesses limited unarmed combat ability. However, most of his combat skills have atrophied from over two decades of disuse, and he actively tries to avoid violence whenever possible. While he does still carry a blaster pistol nearby for security, in recent years, he has only used blasters in hunting.
WEAKNESSES
- Past His Prime: Jerolme is in his mid-fifties, and is now past his physical prime. Though he is still moderately fit, he no longer possesses the strength, speed or stamina of his younger years.
- Insecure: While Jerolme is capable of appearing charming and confident in public, he will often have insecurities and anxieties in private. He is particularly insecure about loose ends, and considers everyone that he doesn't have control over to be a potential threat.
- Physical Means: Jerolme often employs others to perform direct physical work for him, such as a hit job. His reliance on others to do these things means that he often cannot take direct physical action himself.
PERSONALITY
Outwardly, Jerolme is kind and outgoing; a friendly person who can be relied upon to help those in need. He is known to be both charming and charitable, with a history of helping others. Publicly, he claims to seek to make Coruscant the best place it can be, supports the Republic in all of its endeavours, and opposes its enemies such as the First Order. Although adopting a kind persona, Jerolme likes to be seen as resolute — this part of his character is not just a facade. Were a Force-user to try and invade Jerolme's mind, they would find him remarkably strong-willed and difficult to pry any information from.
In reality, Jerolme is cold and calculating — many would call him a corrupt politician if they knew of his true nature. He is willing to go to any lengths to achieve his goals, including practices that many would consider unethical, if not outright inhumane. In the past, he has engaged in bribery, extortion, and even murder. Jerolme is not outright evil in that he does not enjoy the pain of others or go out of his way to do others harm; indeed, he is better described as amoral than immoral — someone who simply does not possess a moral code (and finds it restricting) and is the ultimate pragmatist. Jerolme does not inherently wish harm on others. He will even go out of his way to protect things that matter to him, such as family or something that is an integral part of his plans. He has genuine feelings for his wife, Coruscant and the Republic (in that or, but little else.
Even in his true persona, Jerolme is often calm and collected. Though not immune to bursts of anger, he tends to be reflective and contemplative when he miscalculates or misjudges. He is highly methodical in his approach, preferring to act once he has attained a "safe degree of certainty" that he will succeed. This includes manipulating the circumstances of a situation to his advantage and eliminating threats. He carries a belief of "knowledge is power", which compels him to be highly knowledgeable on any subject he is dealing with. When he deals with people, Jerolme likes to read reports on them beforehand so he understands their psyche — what they like, what they hate, what they fear, how to win them over, etc.
In a similar vein, Jerolme is insecure. He harbours a constant need to be in control, and this ties in with his willingness to resort to anything. There are virtually no limits to Jerolme's desire to control situations and people, and it is this attitude that makes him perceive everyone around him as either an asset or a threat. Despite this, being a politician has forced Jerolme to understand the necessity of making key concessions. While he does know when to quit, it is usually only for a time so he can try again in the future. Giving up something permanently is a difficult task for him. To this end, Jerolme has a tendency to set a limit on how many concessions he is willing to make in a particular situation — often being lesser ones that do not prevent him from achieving his true goals anyway. If he surpasses this limit for whatever reason, he may become angry and insecure.
Jerolme has a number of prejudices towards certain alien species and is highly proud of his upper class life, though he is capable of concealing such traits in public.
BIOGRAPHY:
Jerolme Moore was born to an upper-class family on Coruscant. His father was a wealthy business magnate with numerous connections, including several illicit ones. His mother was a nurse, and he has two brothers and a sister. Over time, he grew close to his mother, and often had conflicted feelings towards his father, who spent little time at home. In the end, Jerolme's father only gifted him with one thing — a near-identically cold and calculating nature.
Jerolme found himself drawn to humanities. At university, he studied history and law, and served as a lawyer for several years upon graduating. Feeling that he wasn't doing enough to affect the Republic, he enlisted in the military, but despite serving in numerous battles, still felt that he was not having the effect on the Republic that he wanted. When one of his actions on the field was misinterpreted as an act of heroism, Jerolme retired from military life to ride his popularity to a political career.
Always interested in politics, Jerolme started out as a local councillor and worked his way up to the position of a mayor. He quickly discovered that many politicians were hugely corrupt, and believed that he could come to make a difference — if only he was elected to a position powerful enough to do so. After years of disconnect, Jerolme contacted his father and asked for his financial backing in the upcoming gubernatorial election, but his father refused. Worse, Jerolme's mother grew gravely ill, and his father, having grown away from the family, refused to pay for medical procedures that could've saved Jerolme's mother. She passed away, and Jerolme felt helpless.
That was more than enough to sever what limited tie Jerolme had to his father, and it truly birthed his cold persona. In retaliation for his father's slighting, Jerolme took a public stance against "corporate greed" and depicted his father's company as poorly as possible. For the next several years, Jerolme and his father waged a shadow war against each other, each trying to bring the other down in whatever ways possible. It was in this time that he met his future wife, Sara, another person born to a wealthy business magnate who happened to support his ambitions and share his cold, calculating nature. With Sara's assistance, Jerolme eventually concocted a false scandal that got his father arrested and imprisoned and his business shut down.
Jerolme and Sara celebrated their triumph with a marriage that cemented the fact that the only people left in the galaxy that they could love were each other. Jerolme's repeated pressuring on his father's business was credited as being the only reason that "the corrupt business was finally toppled". The public saw this as Jerolme's commitment to his perceived principles and values of the Republic taking precedence over even his own family, and he appeared to be someone who was willing to do anything to reinforce the values of the Republic. This new surge of popularity assisted him in becoming elected to Coruscant's higher political arena.
With encouragement from his wife, Jerolme's desire for power grew and so did his belief that he could do great things for Coruscant, and perhaps the wider Galactic Alliance. This led to him aiming for the position of governor, which he pursued relentlessly. Ironically, Jerolme turned into the corrupt type of politician that he had initially sought to eliminate. He convinced himself that this was for the greater good, and in another twist of irony, he ultimately desired the position of governor because he wanted to be remembered as a great politician as much as he wanted to reform Coruscant and make it strong.
Years in higher positions earned Jerolme a good reputation, which he enhanced by portraying himself as a rare politician of virtue. He stood for election as Governor of Coruscant but was aware of the numerous political obstructions that he faced. Taking advantage of the omnipresent corruption in Coruscanti politics, Jerolme selectively exposed the corruption of politicians he considered a threat to his chances, including the incumbent Governor, whose chances of re-election were destroyed. To avoid suffering a similar fate, Jerolme arranged for the few people who knew too much about him and could not be relied on to keep quiet to be met with unfortunate "accidents". When the day at the ballot boxes came, Jerolme was finally elected to his coveted position of Governor of Coruscant.
