STRENGTHS
- Force Resistant: The Trakar plating of Jiriad's armor makes it very difficult for Force-wielders to use their powers to harm him, negating a major problem with most Mandalorian armors that offer great protection against the weapons of Jedi and Sith but none against the Force powers they wield.
- Incredibly Durable: Thanks to the beskar reinforcement to the Trakar plating, Jiriad's armor also offers great protection against blasters, slugthrowers, and lightsabers, as well as adequate protection against EMPs, Disruptors, and radiation.
- Weight: Between the Trakar plating and the beskar reinforcement Jiriad's armor is very heavy, which can impede mobility despite the limited coverage.
- Coverage: There are several parts on the armor where it is weaker or there is no plating, such as in between the shoulder and wrist, as well as much of the upper leg, leaving those areas with only the armorweave bodyglove for protection and, in the case of the legs, the kama.
- Cryo Weapons: While Jiriad saw little use to include protection from the cold as part of the armor's functions due to his race's natural tolerance for cold temperatures, that leaves him open to attacks from cryogenic weapons and grenades.
Once Jiriad Galaar and his clan joined the Mandalorian clans on Roon as a part of the Enclave, he realized that his people could no longer cling to their technophobic beliefs if they were to survive. Just as when they joined the Mandalorian Union Jiriad was the first to adapt, forging himself a new suit of beskar'gam to protect him against the foes of the Mandalorian people. After seeing the devastation wrought by the Sith invasion of Mandalore and Krownest, he realized that it was not enough for his armor to protect against the laser blades of their hated enemies, not when they could just as easily use their witchcraft to electrocute them, crush them, or fling them around like children's playthings.
To that end, the Valkyri smith sought out something that would protect him from the Force, eventually discovering Trakar, or voidsteel, a metal created by a Mandalorian inventor many years prior. While not very durable on its own, paired with Mandalorian beskar reinforcements and a protective bodyglove it would provide more than adequate protection. Jiriad constructed his armor using the armor of the Si'kahya as a basis, making modifications where he saw fit. Protecting the shoulders and upper arm below the shoulderpads are lamellar-style plates inspired by Jiriad's Valkyri heritage, and the breastplate bears the Valkyri symbol ᚢ, or Uruz, which represents strength, endurance, courage, and persistence, qualities which Clan Galaar and their Jarl exemplify. Meanwhile, on the inside surface of the breastplate is inscribed a prayer:
ᚠᛟᚱ ᛏᚺᛟᛊᛖ ᚹᚺᛟ ᚠᛁᚷᚺᛏ, ᚠᛟᚱ ᛏᚺᛟᛊᛖ ᚹᚺᛟ ᚠᚨᛚᛚ, "For those who fight, for those who fall".
The only piece of the suit that already existed before Jiriad joined the Enclave is the buy'ce, or helmet, which was given to Jiriad as a gift many years ago by the Alor of another clan on Krownest, Jor Kvall. The Mandalorian clan leader gave the helmet to Jiriad when the two Clan leaders met face to face for the first time at the gates to Heorot Hall atop the White Mountain, and Jiriad graciously accepted it, treasuring the buy'ce since that day and seeing it as an enduring symbol of their friendship. It is decorated with mythosaur bones and horns, a custom of Clan Kvall.
Jiriad Galaar's armor, as a whole, symbolizes the spirit of the modern Clan Galaar and the hatred its wearer carries for the Sith.
