- Organization Name: Judges of the Outer Rim
- Classification: Law Enforcement/Vigilante Movement
- Affiliation: Outer Planets Alliance
- Organization Symbol: The Judges symbol is a set of scales representing justice. This is so they never forget their first priority as lawmen and peacekeepers. It is not commonly displayed except for within secure facilities and at recognized tribunals.
- Description: The Judges are a loose confederation of Rogue Jedi, independent hedge knights, and ungifted paragons who wander the Outer Rim Territories doling out frontier justice on behalf of the lost and the desperate. Most common in the galactic south, many worlds of the Outer Planets Alliance recognize their authority although not all. They are galactic renowned bounty hunters and skip tracers but a Judge is sworn to take on anything if the cause is just whether it pays or not. Unlike typical Jedi their combat traditions are inherited from both the Gray Paladins and Wardens of the Sky, training with blasters or 'hand cannons' instead of sabers and taking pilgrimages to perfect obscure Force techniques or acquire exotic battle tech.
- Headquarters: The Foundation
- Domain: Outer Planets Alliance. The Judges are few and scattered operating alone or in small groups but they remain active across much of the southern Territories. Some range as far as Hutt Space and the edges of the Tingel Arm. There is an academy in deep space but most training and initiation is accomplished by Judges in the field as mentors. A Judge's personal stronghold is as varied as their many backgrounds. Few start out as Judges instead training in classic traditions before converting and their lives tend to reflect that.
- Notable Assets:
- Hierarchy:
- Grand Marshal (Warchief)
- Marshal (Master)
- Sheriff (Knight)
- Deputy (Apprentice)
- Membership: Judges do not keep meticulous roll calls but number no more than a few hundred active at any given time. Recruitment is often handled in the field and initiation is a mentorship process similar to the Padawan Knight relationship. More experienced Judges will partner with junior deputies until they are ready to strike out on their own. The creation or acquisition of a notable hand cannon is often part of the ascension to Sheriff.
- Climate: Being a Judge feels less like being part of a religious order or militant cult and more like a secret society of elite crime fighters. Though their numbers are few a Judge is forged by brutal training and the crucible of lawless space. Those who survive long enough to distinguish themselves are considered extraordinarily dangerous. It is also a tradition that attracts loners and exiles. The life of a Judge is an isolating experience where one go months or even years without encountering another of their kind.
- Reputation: Judges are many things to many people. Lawmen, heroes, vigilantes, outlaws. A Judge is sworn to seek justice but doesn't always care if the local law is on their side. They are fiercely anti authoritarian and often at odds with the Sith philosophy. The Jedi tend to make natural allies but there are many who believe that the Judges go too far in pursuing their vendettas and doling out punishment. They have a peculiar fondness for smugglers like the Wardens of the Sky but aren't afraid to bash some gun runner skulls in a friendly kind of way.

The Judges are a recent tradition born from a hot tempered strain of Wardens based in the Kathol Outback. Favoring Gray Paladin combat techniques over melee tools or martial arts they are considered among the best sharpshooters in the galaxy. Most rely on modified heavy blasters to shock and awe with but some incorporate fringe fighting styles, exotic Force techniques, or custom gadgetry as well. Closely aligned with the Rebel Underground the first Judges of the Outer Rim were few in number. As their independence movement blazed throughout what would become Coalition space so too did the Judges begin to multiply and spread across the stars.
While they have fought alongside various governments and orders the Judges are independent and loyal only to the Outer Rim itself. They are most notorious on the lawless fringe particularly the Kathol region where their ways began. Judges are considered a terrorist organization by the Sith Empire and several count themselves among the Imperial's most wanted so while their mandate is law and order their brand of justice is in the eye of the beholder. Meanwhile the Outer Planets Alliance has come to rely on their efforts more than ever and Judges are given much respect by low level OPA.
