- Model: Jumpmaster 0.11 Elite Hyperdrive, aka the J11.
- Modularity: No, just no.
- Production: Limited
- Material: Laminanium-Chromium Compound; Borium, Guerrerite, & Durelium Components; Solid State Visium.
- The J11 includes all the features one would expect from a comparable Hyperdrive in an unusually aesthetic package.
- Speed Incarnate: The J11 is absurdly, almost unnecessarily*, fast.
- No Second Chances: The J11 is a fickle beast, its integration into a starship precluding the inclusion of backup hyperdrives.
- Hungry Beast: As is the norm for Very Fast Hyperdrives, the inclusion of a J11 may** come at the expense of other systems.
To the layman, a hyperdrive was merely the means of getting from one point to another, its once-wondrous nature transformed into merely another facet of galactic life, but to Vanguard it was an instrument to be tuned to perfection, its melody one of speed and grace.
Not content merely to "make do" with the blistering speed of the J33, the hypernautics engineers of Vanguard's Jumpmaster Project sought to further push the envelope, perhaps because they could or perhaps due to wishing to outdo whichever mad genius created the Frogdog. Initially struggling to find funding for the massive expenses involved, Izra Terassi was eventually press-ganged into asking her grandparents nicely.
As it turns out, convincing Serennian nobility to bankroll an egregiously expensive prestige project over dinner is fairly easy.
*Given how fluid Chaos' timeline is, the odds of this submission affecting anything important is infinitesimal. At least it's pretty.
