Hey, Everyone!
Here we are on the eve of the second Hex Invasion in the board’s history, and as many of you know - We’re up against the Alliance. I know many of you are exhausted, as it's been a tireless bout of fisty-cuffs with our IC foes, and I won't hold it against you if you wanted to bow out. However, as this is our home turf and we have a lot of pre-established territory to lose, I wanted to ask that you stick with us for a bit longer. Now, I don't expect you to drop yourself into the Invasion and force yourself into writing something you may not want to write, but as there are plenty of things going on, Combat doesn't have to be the “primary” focus. There are many things that you can do to contribute in your way - as the whole underlying point is to get some interaction going with folks, you may not usually write with.
Who knows? You may enjoy writing with someone new, where all your characters are doing is writing in the snowy wastes of Hoth - relying on each other to survive until you get back to your respective lines. Heck, you could be drinking tea at the opposite end for some aggressive diplomacy.
All that matters to us is that you have fun writing a story.
Now, with that being said, there are a few things we’d like to address going forward, to ensure that we're all on the same page as we write a cohesive and hopefully entertaining story with our opponents. The First Order’s policy on Orbital Bombardment is that there's to be none. It's too high of a risk to strike collateral targets, especially when we're trying to restore Order to a benighted Galaxy. Can't do that if they hate us, and we destroy everything we conquer, now can we?
Orbital Strike’s, on the other hand, are a more localized, and precise way of handling an entrenched enemy target. Less chance of civilian casualties that way, especially if they're called in and confirmed by sighters on the ground.
We would ask, in the future if a Strike is required, that you work with members of the First Order Navy and members of the First Order Faction Staff to make the magic happen. (Collaboration and all that.
)
Secondly, we wanted to address the use of Chemical weapons. As we’re doing our best to pride ourselves on being a story oriented Faction - Through the travesty that occurred at Skor II during our Invasion, they're no longer to be used by the Armed Forces of the First Order. They're clumsy, and like bombardments, don't fit with the overarching narrative we're trying to forge. We're doing what we can to be lean, and precise, the Scalpel rather than the Axe - so the weapons we use should be suited to their purpose, no?
Lastly. With all that on the table, I wanted to say - on behalf of the Faction Staff.
Let's keep up the good work, have fun, and go sock ol’ Johnny Alliance in the jaw, eh?
