Private Just a Quick Trim

Location: Roon, River Kryze's Workshop

Having finished the last touches on the equipment, River stepped back, her attention going towards the datapad she had hooked to the connection port. "Okay, give me a moment." She said, lifting up the datapad as she initiated the software scan, the device checking for compatibility between the two pieces of equipment. Jan's helmet was rather complex, or at least trying to rework it had been complicated. The armor of the girl sat on an armor rack, fully equipped with the new gadgets that River had been testing. She had managed to get the sizing just right, but if the helmet was going to reject the software updates she was feeding it, well that was going to be a problem.

To River's relief, all the data coming back indicated that everything was going along fine. For a first test run, this was exceptional. Then again, it was possible that River was just getting better with this gear. It was a bit of a relief truthfully, given the nightmare that she encountered trying to rework her original suit, she would take these results over the other any day of the week.

As the results concluded, River let out a sigh of relief, as she set the datapad down, disconnecting her device from the helmet, as it was time for the moment of truth. "Jan, I'm done. Ready to try it all on?" Turning to find the girl, River was almost ecstatic to see what the girl would think about her new gear. Hopefully she liked it.

It was hard to believe she was here watching all this unfold. It felt like a a few weeks ago she was just some no name on Denon scrapping by with nothing. Now she was watching with with fascination as she watched River work on her armor. There was just something about seeing it come together, whether it be seeing the lines of software run River's on datapad,or having seen the various tools and machines River had use to get the armor to fit just right was just fascinating to say the least. Even if the first few times seeing a hammer being taken to it made her squeamish.

She watch silently in antcipation waiting to finally the go ahead to give it a whirl, to be honest it was the worst part about the whole process. She felt naked seeing everyone else wearing 'beskar'gam' (such a silly word for armor) it was putting her on edge. Especially because she kept hearing the same weird word being thrown around at her in heated whisper though Jan couldn't remember what exactly it was. Aruetio? Arietii? Arito? Aruetii That was it. She would have to ask River what that meant at some point. Wait River was putting the datapad down. Was it time? Was it Time? was it? Was it? She held her breath wishing she could see the look on River's face right now.

"Jan, I'm done. Ready to try it all on?" Jan gasped, and felt her throat about to explode and was doing a poor job at controlling it.

"YES!... I mean sure...." Jan had said, exploding first with a squee before trying to calm herself down act cool, not that it was fooling anyone. The punk was giddy as she was already racing over to the Armor rack and stopped mere inches away.

Her body freezing as she felt something impact her now. She looked at each plate and was just awe struck by it, the gold color that was semi reflective, dotted along with intricate engravings of subtle line work that caressed the outline of each piece, the way the leg armor hooked and curved to hopefully conform perfectly with her thigh, it all glistened especially since River had a chance to give it a good polish during her time working on it. She realized something that she never did when she first looked upon this entire kit. It was beautiful... and it was her's now

To think he left this for her...

She turned back and looked at the her helmet seeing the dark maroon like shade of the helmet contrast with the gold band above the emerald green visor and then looked over to River. She didn't know why but whenever she looked at the Mandalorian she could just feel her shoulders just drop, even if she had her moments, like back in the cockpit. Though those moments were dormant in her mind as in the heat of the moment she would ask her something she would have never thought to ask anyone before.

"Just... can you help me get this on? I want make sure everything is right. I don't want to fall onto my exhaust port like last time and all."

To River's relief, Jan seemed genuinely excited to receive her armor. Of course, this could all go badly if the girl was at all dissatisfied with the gear that River had given her. She didn't think it would be the case, but children were just so darn hard to figure out these days. Taking up a separate datapad, River scrolled the the screens as she spoke, knowing that her work would be for nought though she still had to give out the offer. "Now, I made a list of features that are included within your armor, but I'm fully expecting you to ignore them anyways." Still, with the list pulled up, River moved to the side as Jan approached, ogling at the suit that awaited her. "Let me just list this off quickly, then we can get to the testing."

Clearing her voice first, River would begin to list off her work on Jan's armor. "I installed jump boots into the suit rather than a jet pack. You'll find it useful in combat. As well as sensors, you have access to a magnetic grapple to pull your weapons towards you, concealed weapons, as well as a vacuum sealed suit that can grant up to six hours of breathable air. Your suit can handle high degrees of hear, and extreme low temperatures, though sonic weaponry can disrupt your efforts greatly. So be mindful of that." Turning back to the girl, River fully expected Jan to be extra impatient with her, something the former mother understood all too well. She knew what it was like to don her first set of armor, though having made it herself she felt overjoyed at the prospect. She had to think that Jan felt a similar sense of joy as well. What she hadn't expected, was the girl to ask her for help. In fact, it took River aback, as she held the datapad close to her chest, a smile slowly working across her face at the offer laid before her. "I....most certainly can. Don't want this suit falling apart mid battle after all right?" She had to wonder if this what it would have been like if her children had survived to Jan's age. Her and Omar, helping their kids make their suits. It would have been a nice dream, but that's all it would ever be. At least she had some semblance of an idea of what it might have been like.

When Jan heard River talk about all the cool gizmos and doo-dads that were in the armor they hit but they wouldn't quite hit home in her head. She was still too caught up in the heat of the moment of seeing it all presented to her. There was just an energy that demanded she started to put this armor on right fething now. So as a result most of what River said didn't register with her, infact barely any of it, except for the idea of jump boots. Now that excited her, her mind thinking of the amount of rooftop to rooftop jumps on Denon that would have helped with. Most of the stuff though was related to war which was still something that hadn't quite grasped Jan yet. She was going to become a Warrior. The full weight had yet to find it's way on the young, brash punk.

Though there was something that did stick with Jan wholeheartedly. That was the smile on River's face when she asked for help. It caused Jan to froze. She felt warm, and her body suddenly felt like it had air puffed into it, she didn't feel small like she normally did, with some inner thing that was shrinking inside of her. It almost hurt as she exhaled and felt her chest move so vividly. The most confusing thing though was that... she could feel herself wanting to cry. It confused her. She was happy! She never felt this good in her entire life. It didn't make sense, none of it made sense. So she shoved it down. It had no place here right now. She was just going to enjoy this.

Now actually putting this stuff on was quite the procedure. She was glad to have River with her informing her and guiding her hand through everything. This stuff was more then just some funky looking jumpsuit you could just slip on, it was a process to fasten each plate and make sure everything sat just right. With River showing her she now felt like a complete chump when she first tried to put all of this stuff on. Yet with each piece she could just feel something change in her. Her back stiffened and held her even more upright, ever hand movement grew deliberate and there was more impact to everything. She felt like a badass to put it simply. As the final bits of her suit all came together she felt complete in a sense. Everything held to her body snug and taught and she finally felt a bit of her old confidence return. She gave her plate a small tug and none of it dared move a centimetre. Jan could feel a smirk grow over her face.

When River then tried to instruct her on how to put the helmet on and make it seal, Jan would finally show a bit of her rebellious side.

"Ok do I really need to wear the helmet like that all the time? I like to let the ponytail hang... and no, there's no way I'm cutting it off."
