Just for you Kira...

Talon had been thinking about this for a long time. He sat outside the youngling training area with his legs crossed and a long box wrapped in plain brown flimsy. He was waiting for his verbal jousting partner and friend Master @[member="Kira Liadain"]. She had been on his mind and since she was a newly appointed Master Talon went and got her something her thought would make her day.

He sat in his civilian attire, mostly to irk her, but also because he was supposed to be leaving for an undercover mission soon. Talon had become a Jedi Investigator after talking to her about his future and this was a congratulations and thank you all in one. He just hoped she was around.

The temple was a flurry of activity marking the end of class for several padawans. Among those were Master Kira Liadain, who'd just finished training some younglings on basic defensive principles through the Force. She was dressed in her normal robes, a little threadbare and frayed at the ends, but they were hers none the less.

The big issue, however, was in her boots. A wince came to her then. It appeared that a pebble had managed to wiggle it's way into her boot. Sigh....

Just as she was about to plop down upon the stairs to take it out, she caught sight of a familiar face. A wide grin spread over her lips as she waved him down. "Hey Greenie," she told him in jest, giving a snort at his civilian attire.

"OOo so fancy. Decided the monk life ain't as grand as it was thought to be?" she joked, plopping down on a stair to work on her boot.

Talon got up and put his box under one arm as he walked over. He hadn't seen nearly enough of the little blonde Jedi lately and he was grinning like a nexu.

"Har har, lil'blue." He said in response, "For once I'm actually supposed to look like this. I am looking into rumors of slave traders near the edge of the Republic."

He plopped down beside her and set down his box on his lap. He looked at her boots and waved a hand infront of his face jokingly.

"When was the last time you changed those things?" He said even though there was no actual smell. He nudged her gently and pointed at her boots again.

"Give me those things!" He said grabbing one of her feet and trying to pull the boot off.

Kira gave [member="Talon Vosra"] a devilish grin, one that faded a bit as she heard of the slave traders. Her expression became serious for a moment, and she gave a nod. "Don't go pollinating everything while you're at it," she teased, but the tone relayed a concern for his safety and welfare, as well as good luck.

A laugh came bubbling out of her at the mention of her boots," Hey! They've been good to me so far ---HEY!!! QUIT THAT!" she yelled out, but with no real anger, tugging her leg away while the other pushed at his shoulder to throw him back a bit.

"That's mine!" her hand went smacking him lightly against the shoulder.

Talon laughed as she tugged her foot away and smacked him on the shoulder. He couldn't help it he just continued laughing and held up his big brown wrapped box. It had taken a lot of digging through files and finally some help from the archivist to find the right size but he had done it. He looked at her with a devilish grin of his own and motioned for her to take the box.

"I have been thinking about you and I wanted you to have this." He said his cheeks blushing green, "not like thinking too much thinking but you just got Master and I haven't seen you since the slave yards."

Talon cleared his throat and turned greener as he made matters sound more like he was going soft on her than being himself.

'Sheesh when will you keep your feet away from your mouth Tal?' He thought.

"Anyway here before your beans get jumpy." He joked finally as he tried to sound more his usual self.

Both her blonde brows rose high, "Oh thinking about me hmmm?" she teased him back, giving a mischievous grin "What? Scared I'm going to stuff you full of sugar cookies?"

Of course, when the words 'I wanted you to have this,' her perks perked in curiousity, more so when her keen gaze read the rather embarrassed and flushed face of the Zelosian.

"Careful there Greenie...you just might end up making yourself bloom prematurely," she teased him, giving a half laughing snort, only to blink at him and the box he held.

Truth be told, this... was strange. There was almost a feeling of deja vu to it all. She almost didn't realize her hands went out to gently take the box, her mind elsewhere for a moment. Years ago, back to when she was a padawan and she had just been assigned her first master --- Ben.

He'd given her a gift too then. It was her electrum lightsaber. Being an orphan and also a Jedi, personal possessions were few. Her long blonde lashes blinked a bit, before blue eyes went up to meet green.

"Sugar cookies?" she said in a lighthearted tease, shaking the box a bit. It was heavy, whatever the contents were. Well, heavier than cookies and certainly didn't rattle like a dozen.

"Pfft!" He said looking more his normal color, "you wish you could make me bloom and no trying to get me drunk on your cookies. That's cheating."

He laughed at the first time she tossed him across a training room floor over some comments about cookies.

He motioned to the box with his chin. He had gone through the trouble to try and match her exact style of boots. The only difference was he had left a surprise sown to the inside top of the boots. The little tag sown inside said 'Kira "Little blue" Liadain" followed by a joke label of 'left' for the left boot and 'right' for the right boot.

"I'm not telling. You have to open it." He said, "and I just wanted to show you I appreciated you not treating me like a Sith. Even if you do get excited about my pollinating."

Kira shot him a silly look, but none the less, did as he suggested, which was open the box. Compared to her usual jovial attitude, she seemed to reverently and slowly open the box. Personal possessions were few and far between with the Jedi monks, so this was a rare treat.

To say she was surprised at it's contents once she lifted the lid was an understatement. Her eyes grew wide and she gave a small gasp of surprise. They were boots. New boots!

"Oh my gosh!" came her surprised outburst, her eyes going from the boots to Talon and back to the boots again. "How did you..." she began only to take one boot out. It was the right one, and if one couldn't figure that out, simply by looking at the tag that marked left or right would. That's when she saw the aurabesh sigils inside that gave the boots her monogram.

She was in shock.

Her jaw dropped, and for once, she didn't know what to say. A few simple words would say it all, as it clearly expressed itself on her face and in the shimmering shine in her eyes.

"Thank you."

And yes, the sudden throwing of her arms around [member="Talon Vosra"] to give him a hug in gratitude also helped.

Talon watched as she carefully opened the box. He had been saving his travel expenses for a long time, he didn't need to eat, he slept on the ships he traveled in and he almost never needed to buy anything else. Needless to say he had found that he had saved enough for boots. Her eyes went wide and he felt her surprise radiate off her through the force. To say he was happy to see her shock and joy would be akin to saying the galaxy was a big place.

He smiled and felt warmth in his cheeks as he looked at her expression. From his first mission to Metalorn, while he was still a prisoner, Kira had been more than kind. He had enjoyed their talks, the joking, and even the embarrassing pollen incident. She was easily his best friend and he was overjoyed to see her so happy.

"Oh" he said surprised as she gave him a big hug. He smiled happily and put his arms around her and to return the hugged her back. He couldn't help but notice how nice she smelled.

"You're Welcome, Kira." He said finally. It was a shame he had to go soon. "You deserved something just of your own for once."

So it was then, that the faintest of brushes of lips went across the Zelosian's cheek, warmth of skin transferring at that brief caress. Close enough to get the subtle scent of the citrusy aroma of her shampoo.

"Thank you Talon," Kira said again, eyes bright with her jovial cheer practically radiating from the Lorrdian's body. Talon, no nickname or a silly twist of his name.

Her arm pulled back, and she stood just shy of two feet of him, having gotten on her tippy toes to reach round him for the original hug. "You're the best!" She told him as she pulled back to excitedly sit down, taking off her shoes to slip on the new ones.

It was indeed, a good day.

Talon stood a bit stunned. His hand drifted to his cheek as he registered what his mind said hadn't actually happened but his cheek disagreed. The smell of citrus tugged lightly at his senses and he felt the his face turn green as he blushed.

He had tried to hide his crush for the Lorrdian Jedi for sometime and he had done pretty well he felt. He focused on teaching, spending time with the younglings, and missions that required his attention, but it would be harder now.

He shook his head from side to side. She didn't make a joke, or call him "greenie" this time and he wasn't sure what to say. He hadn't planned this far. He was supposed to give her the boots and leave. He valued her friendship too much dare think of more than that.

Still a little dazed he sat down and watched her switch out her boots. She really was pretty and even though he didn't dare tell her he couldn't stamp down his feelings this time. He smiled as the new boots went on and realized that for once he liked someone for more than just appearances. She made him feel like being a better Jedi and her personality was the kind that he could never tire of.

"How do they fit?" He said as he realized she may sense his feelings through the force or more likely read his body language. He began the Quey'tek meditation as a reflex and then kicked himself for likely making it worse.

'Cool it Talon," he scolded internally, 'just enjoy the moment and let it be.'

He continued to smile and regret having to leave so soon.

It wasn't long before Kira began to wiggle her toes within the comfortable confines of her new boots. They felt absolutely DEVINE! The glee could not be wiped from her expression, she shined with joy and simple pleasure at the new pair of boots.

"They fit fantastic!" she said, beaming a smile up at him, her smile wide. Her foot went up a bit as she leaned back, admiring the boot for a couple of seconds. She was like a child during lifeday, just simply buzzing with excitement. So much she didn't manage to catch the switch and tell of Talon's bodylanguage before he settled into his Quey'tek meditation.

"You've no idea how long I've been wanting to get new boots!" she said, grinning up at him. To think that such a simple matter would make the Master so happy.

He smiled and nodded. His emerald eyes shone like the gems whose color they claimed kinship with as he watched her. She looked so happy and he had the pleasure of knowing that he had been the cause.

'Not you Tal the boots. The boots made her happy.' He told himself as he looked at his chrono.

It was time to go and he still needed to grabe the gear he had been issued to complete his disguise.

'Just walk away Talon.' He told himself, 'say your friendly good bye and do your duty.'

"Well," he said as he laid his hand heavily on his knees for emphasis, "I have a ship to catch and leads to follow. I better get going."

Just as he was about to stand he noticed a few hair had fallen over her cheek and his eyes lingered before he shook his head again.

'Don't do it!' His mind yelled at him.

'It wouldn't hurt! I mean why not?' He replied.

'She is a Master and a good Jedi.' He thought, 'you could lose a friend by being to...friendly.'

'She's not interested it will be fine.' He argued against his better judgment.

'Don't...' his mind told him again as he ignored his own warning and reached over to gently brush the stray hair behind her ear.

His face turnes green again as he stood quickly and turned so he wouldn't have to face her blue eyes.

"I see you around, Blue." He said unable to say her name. "I'm glad you like the boots"

He started for the hangers and his mission. Maybe it was best. If he was separated he could sort out his thoughts and give her time to forget his touch, but would he be able to? He didn't know anymore. All he knew was he had to go and he didn't want to...

She was a bit surprised to feel the brush of his fingertips slide that lock of blonde hair behind her ear. It caused her to blink up at him momentarily in surprise, but she didn't appear to be offended by it all. After all, Talon was a dear friend.

That's when she saw the bright green bloom across his face again, his body language suggesting he was embarrassed. She figured that it was because of the way she teased him and her reaction to the boots. None the less, she gave a nod.

Body reader she might be, but an expert in relationships she was not.

Kira's expression sobered for a moment as he said his goodbye. Lowering her foot, she gave him a faint smile as he turned to leave.

"Take care of yourself Talon," she told him, a small gust of wind picking up the tendrils of blonde hair to caress her cheeks as she saw him walk off.

"Stay safe."
