Justice to the Slaver; Hunting Xenar

(Theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEq73szLJPw)
Inner_city_by_aksu2.jpg

Location: Soceras, outside the Night Club of Sin
Objective: Discover the Whereabouts of [member="Tubul Xenar"]
Hunters: [member="Kiber Thaxton"], Ghorua the Fish

One could barely tell it was nighttime next to the Angel's Den, which shown like a beacon in the dismal streets around it. Ghorua had spent his time in the bar, and he had to say that he was impressed with it. Drunken patrons stumbled to and fro, moving aimlessly. Recently, this place had been defiled by a slaver, whom assaulted an employee of Justice Shipping. The bounty on the Chevin was respectable, but Ghorua himself was only getting 1/4 of the profits. This time, he wasn't in it for the money, but for the experience.

On this particular job, he was accompanied by a Mandalorian. Both of them were relatively new to the guild, but Ghorua was particularly fresh to the Bounty Hunting scene. He had recieved a bit of training, but considered this his first real test.

Ghorua stood outside, a massive hulking figure against the neon lights of the club. At his side, his loyal Massiff, Bones, licked at his palm. Ghorua ignored her, turning to Thaxton.

"First order of business, let's get some information. [member="James Justice"] owns this place. Let's see if he knows anything."

Ghorua walked into the bar, squeezing through tightly packed bodies, his Massiff ducking through legs behind him. Once he reached the bartender, he opened up the hologram of the Bounty on Xenar. "I'm here to see Justice," he said, trying to project a professional attitude. The barkeep nodded, and went to fetch him. The Herglic turned to his fellow Hunter, leaning his gigantic arm on the counter. "So, you were here for the whole ordeal, right? What did you see?"

James swaggered into the room, beaconed by one of his own bartenders. They seemed to almost be the badboy billionaire's secretaries. A trail of smoke followed him, as always. The moment he saw the Herglic, James knew what he was here for. Solo had come through for him and got him a great pair of bounty hunters. He nodded, thinking that he would hire the man again later if more badness came up. All the same, it was alright with him. The other he knew was Kiber. He could trust that Mandalorian, he knew.

"Mates, I have here what ye be needing," James said tossing them a datacard. "Me slicers have gathered all there is to find on this slaver. That be intel from the shadow and holonet, me personal spies, and the security cameras of the club. We found that his name be @Tubal Xenar. He tired to kidnap one of me employees. Dead or alive, I dun't care what ye do to him. If ye find any slaves with him and liberate them, that be another one thousand per slave, plus the ninety thousand for his skull," he breathed out a huff of smoke, "body being attached is optional. Questions?"

Kiber nodded and told Ghorua what had taken place. "One of James' staff went outside to talk to Xenar, then his thugs got out of the speeder and approached her - seems he wanted to take her as his latest acquisition, along with his Twi'leks. But Stardust, one of the other employees, managed to stop the thugs dead in their tracks, literally. After that, he fled from the club, and went to places unknown. This is a personal hunt for me Ghorua. I've been collecting bounties on slavers for six years now, and some of my family, and friends, are being held as slaves, so if I can get rid of just one slaver, that means the folks of the galaxy can rest easy..." the Mandalorian was not usually this open and forthcoming, but he felt that he could trust a brother bounty hunter to understand his reasoning for taking on this deadly task.

Ghorua thanked Justice cordially, "Thank you. I think this is all we need."

Ghorua walked back outside as Kiber retold his tale. The club's thumping music receded as he padded outside to the scene of the crime. Looking over the street, he saw no miraculous clues as to where this slaver could've gone. Didn't think it would be that easy, thought Ghorua, kneeling down to Bones, who rolled on her back, expecting a belly-rub. Instead, Ghorua pulled out the Massiff's work collar, and she sat up. Hooking it around her neck, he stood back up. Turning the datachip around in his fingers, he plugged it into his holopad as Thaxton finished his story.

"Alright, lets see what Justice's slicers could come up with..." said Ghorua the Fish, opening the new file. In it, assorted pictures, crime reports, and security footage documented a grungy-looking Chevin hauling around various enslaved women. Ah, he's that kind of slaver, the Herglic thought to himself, scrounging through the new information. Tubul Xenar, Chevin, approximately 200 years old. Dang, these suckers live a long time... The various images showed him repeatedly getting on a crummy old freighter ship, slaves in tow. "Alright, we got us a ship," he said to his fellow hunter.

Ghorua had come prepared. He stooped down again to Bones. She sat vigilantly, waiting for orders. The Herglic held out a small vial to the Massiff. He had pulled a few strings, and had managed to come up with a sample of Chevin smell. The security footage showed the acquisition get into an open-air landspeeder, which would leave a faint scent trail. Hopefully one that wasn't already clouded by exhaust fumes and other contaminants. "Bones." The Massiff perked up. "Find 'em."

Bones immediately sniffed the vial, taking in the new scent. Hopefully, she wouldn't go looking for this particular Chevin, but one with a similar smell. The Massiff began walking around in circles, looking for the trail. "With any luck," he said to Thaxton, "Bones will find the trail, and lead us to a spaceport. We then cross-reference this ship," he held out his holopad, "with any that have left the spaceport recently. We can then analyze flight paths and possible destinations, and hopefully figure out where this guy is going." Ghorua sighed, looking around. "And we still have to look through the security footage of the actual crime... Lots of work..."

James watched the two men exit his nightclub and gave a satisfied nod. He had great faith in their abilities, that was for sure. He knew they were up to the task and if they were not--well he would lead a man hunt across the galaxy like the worlds had never seen. No rock would be left unturned and no expense spared.

The point was to make an example of this rogue: No one, no one touched James' friends. Ever. There was no point in being a criminal if you couldnt make them fear hurting you or your allies after all. And fear he would instill in those who opposed him as much as he instilled love in those who worked with him. It was his dichotomy. He had no creed but the spacer was sure if he had one, it would be love me and fear my friends. He supposed no man could have a better calling than to look out for those he cared for.

At last he turned and began tending to the rest of his pet-project, the massive Lost Angel, a den of revelry. (exit)

Kiber nodded at Ghorua's plan of attack. "And here's hoping that anyoner we question gives us the information we need and hasn't been paid off by him to keep their traps shut Ghorua..." he said, watching Bones tracing the smell of the Chavin. "Do you want to take my ship once that trail is located? It can stand up to almost anything and is one of the fastest light freighters around," The Mandalorian watched the security video over and over again, showing the Chavin entering the establishment, being accosted by [member="stardust"] and being ejected from there.

I WILL find you Chavin and make you pay for what you have done...

"Heh, sure, we can take your ship. Mine isn't exactly the fastest around." Ghorua slapped the Mandalorian on the back, perhaps a bit too hard.

Bones suddenly howled as her nose caught a scent. She pulled against the rope Ghorua held, trying to chase her prey. "She's got something. Let's go." Ghorua started jogging in the direction Bones was pulling, her nose high in the air, pulling in the faint smell of slaver scum.

"Thaxton, do we have audio on the struggle? Perhaps we can find a clue," said the big Herglic, shaking the ground with his heavy footsteps. Bones balked as she ran along, attracting annoyed stares from passerby's.

"I am sure we do," Kiber replied, trying to keep up with Bones and Ghorua. Passersby watched them with curiosity, wondering where the trio could be going and what they might be doing. He looked at the datacard and there it was. "Ah ha!!! We have audio my dear friend. Here, have a listen to it," he handed it over to Ghorua, and pushed the play button on the device. "Hopefully we can start to put together the puzzle from here on," the Mandalorian bounty hunter knew that they were just beginning, but the hunt would definitely be worth it in the end.

Sir! Could i speak to you for a moment? A woman's voice, grainy from the camera's speakers, rang out in Ghorua's ears as he jogged.
Hmm, ah dinnae normally sell yer type, but this once I can make an exception. A gravelly, rather gross voice answered. A slight pause. Grab the lass and put her in the back. We'll sell her on Nar Shaddaa.

The rest of the audio was filled with gasps and the faint sound of a speeder buzzing away. Ghorua snapped his fingers in victory. "I think we may have hit the jackpot, friend! Xenar mentions Nar Shaddaa. He might not be there now, but if worse comes to worse, we can wait for him there."

Bones took her sweet time finding the spaceport. The whole ordeal took about an hour of walking, and doubling back, and Bones trying to find the trail again. They eventually came across a ratty spaceport in the slums of the city. Bones pulled against the rope tighter, obviously nearing her quarry. Ghorua pulled her back, and stroked her spines. "Good girl, Bones. Relax." He turned to Thaxton, questioningly. "Would you like to talk to the owner? We need to get the logs on that Chevin's ship. Whoever runs this place may require a bit of..." Ghorua smiled oily. "Persuasion."

Kiber grinned. "With pleasure Ghorua..." the Mandalorian said with a sly grin behind his helmet, as he sauntered into the spaceport, and then walked up to the main office on the first floor. He knocked on the door and he saw the owner working away on some paperwork. Opening the door, Kiber sat down in the chair opposite the owner and rested his feet up on the desk. "Excuse me kind sir, I am wondering if you can help? I need to find someone who may have passed this way. One Chevin named Tubul Xenar," the owner stopped and looked up at the Mando.

"I have no idea who you are talking about..." the owner went back to filing tax forms. Kiber pinned his hand on the desk, and slowly began to crush it. The owner winced in pain, so Kiber released his grip. "Do not play games with me sir!!! Just tell me what I want to know, and I will let you free with your life..." the owner finally relented and confessed that Xenar and his Twi'leks had indeed come this way and shakily handed a folder over, which contained the logs of ships that had left the spaceport to another destination. Kiber grinned - Xenar's ship was in this folder and provided his next destination. And so the paper trail began in earnest. The owner was visibly shaken, but Kiber was not fazed by it at all.

"Thank you for your cooperation sir. Have a good day," Kiber left the office and returned to Ghorua and handed over the folder, pointing where Xenar's ship was documented. "He was here, but got onto a shuttle and left for his next destination," the hunt was well and truly on.

Ghorua walked up to the man behind the desk, and offered him 1000 credits, while putting his finger over his mouth. The man nodded, extremely frightened at this point. He wasn't completely sure if 1000 creds would buy his silence, but if this job went down the way it was supposed to, he would be well reimbursed.

The Hunters had come out of the information-gathering on top. The clues had lined up, almost too perfectly. Ghorua shoved these nay-saying thoughts away from his mind. They had won the first battle. Ghorua leaned down to Bones, and took off her work collar. The Massiff immediately yipped happily, and began running around the legs of Ghorua and [member="Kiber Thaxton"]. Unlike her, the Hunters' work was far from over. Ghorua checked the barrels of his blaster cannon, watching them whir hypnotically. Far from over.

"Back to your ship, Hunter. Let's bring this guy to Justice."
