Jynx vs Ijaat Mereel

Our combatants find themselves in a simple practice arena. There are no crowds of cheering spectators, and no obstacles either. The arena is free of any distractions. Today, there is only the fight.

The arena is circular, twenty meters wide. A waist-high duracrete barrier surrounds it. Being thrown out of the arena does not count as a loss, but leaving it voluntarily will be taken as surrender. It's reasonably well lit, with the lights adjusted so as not to shine in the fighters' eyes.

The floor is smooth dirt, packed tightly by centuries of feet treading the same ground. It's slightly uneven, but not enough to really throw off footing. Combatants need not worry about anything but the fight.

The fighters will enter from opposite sides. The fight will go on until either one or both fighters is dead or incapacitated, a fighter surrenders either verbally or by leaving the ring, or time runs out.

Good luck, and may the Force be with you.

As Ijaat strode into the lit arena, his booted feet ground on the sand slightly, tensing. The motion was to settle in just inside the entrance he had came through, and test how firm or loose the soil packed into a floor was. A nod of a white helmeted head indicated he was quite pleased with things. A stretch of his back was in order, as the t-visor scanned physically from side to side. While this was not really needed with the views a buc'ye offered, it was an affectation.

Nothing was drawn yet from the AEI made gunbelt around his hip, slung low and ready. Instead the longsword he had made of beskar and had imbued by Shule Windspeaer rested in his hand, and a de-activated shield from the father of Clan Betna rested on his off arm. Almost, he waved to the crowd as if greeting an old friend, and only cut the motion off at the last second, instead tilting his head up at the roar of the crowd and inhaling deeply before the full filtration system kicked in. He was not as flashy as he was in his youth, so he would wait for the other to appear first. Though aged, he had enough in him to teach these pups.

Shadows and dust....

For ease of reference, since the armor I am using is modular, here is the loadout & links for all gear. If it isn't stated, it isn't in use in this thread.

Great. A fully armoured Mandolorian... Jynx herself donned her battle-armour and blade by her side. Though not near impervious as the Beskar power-suit before her, Jynx often found that the armorweave and durasteel armour had served her well.
Her blade was sheathed left as she walked towards the centre of the arena with hand rested on the handle.
This was a scene she was familiar with: a roaring crowd eager for blood to wet the saturated grounds and to see the result of their wagers.
She closed her eyes for a few moments to tune out deafening noise. All she saw now was the opponent in front of her and (she assumed) they to her.

Lithe looking. Lightly armed. She would be quick and vicious, if his prior experience told him anything. And with that, she likely wouldn't want to stand and fight. So his tactic would be to force the issue. You can't dance with someone sitting down, after all. Well... You could, technically... But that was not this kind of arena. At least, he hadn't signed up for it to be that way, and he wasn't entirely sure his opponent was his type really.

Hefting the beskad as he drew it, he rested the longsword length saber on his shoulder by the spine. Slightly rocking in his feet, he settled his stance as the flare of his shield activating caught the eyes of those observing. Twisting his barrel like torso, he brought his shield to the fore and in ready, covering his torso. His shoulder rolled into spot, braced and ready. A thin, knowing smile twitched across his lips as he mentally waited.

The young never like to sit still for long... Let us see how patient you are, little one.

A sabre and a shield. His sword was clearly of longer reach than hers too. That shield in his off hand was clearly a problem too, making it difficult for her own blade to draw near. Her hand drew towards the dagger on her back hip - then stopped. Best to leave surprises for later... He stood shield first and blade behind, the two items meant to work in synergy. But having a shield and a sword will limit the movement of one or the other, specific motions to take, specific placement of weapons to allow for efficient motion.

She stood, hips square in a low crouch - almost to pounce upon him - left hand on the sheath and the other rested on the handle. She had to be versatile, stance allowing for rapid movement with a change of position. Her hands and blade remained sheathed to allow to multi-directional strike without telegraphing.

Always have more options than your enemy.

Alright, let's get the fun part out of the way: [member="Jynx"] advances due to [member="Ijaat Mereel"] withdrawing.

There's not a lot to nitpick here. Both of you did an excellent job sizing up your opponent and setting the stage for the fight, but when it comes to actual action, there's, well, nothing really. It's a shame, because this had the makings of a pretty epic showdown. At any rate, thanks for participating, and Ijaat, you're always welcome to try your hand in the GBA again when time allows.
