That mandalorian would become thiavi's guardian after the red coronation, and modified the droid to act as a caretaker for thiavi when he couldn't be there. Despite the droid's best efforts, thiavi was taken by slavers, an event that has always brought guilt to k-3B0, if a droid can even feel guilty.
They were reunited 4 years later when his owner found and freed thiavi on tatooine, however he died in the process and Ownership of the droid fell to thiavi.
