Personality:
Kind, friendly, and very out-going, the K1-series droid was built with the personality of Lady Kay in mind. If there was a droid version of tea, this unit would drink it in bulk. They are known for their social graces, kind nature, and compassion. While droids appear to not have compassion built into their personality matrix, this one comes as close to it as possible. Its practically impossible to not like this droid, and some owners have post-fitted them with Basic-speaking vocabulators just to hear their gracious ideas and friendly nature. Despite being meant for the hangar and the cockpit, this droid’s social grace are good enough to put most droids (and organics) to shame.
Development:
James was ready to see the next generation of astromech droids come to fruition. As a result, he called some of the droid development team to his side and ordered them to begin looking into the future and investing in developing a new line for them.
His instructions were clear: Make a new astromech, make it good, and make its personality like Lady Kay’s. Make it affordable to the common folk, this needs to be in every home, hangar, and cockpit there is.
The team spent several weeks on these orders, nuancing it out. In the end they came up with the K1-Series droid. Composed of Transparasteel, durasteel, and other relatively cheap metals and the most durable and affordable parts, the first droid was on the market very soon, with prices running so low the company hardly netted a profit, however getting their name on the market was of principle importance in the product.
