  I should be happy today, but I struggle. It is my first name day, and they let me choose my path. I got to see mama and papa, but it was bittersweet as they had to leave again. Mama seemed sad too, but I think her hands hurt from working the looms. Papa was tired; you could see it in his face. I told them of how one of the Gamall in the village has agreed to teach me calculations, so I won't have to go away for schooling. I told them one day it would help me to give us a life where they would not need to work anymore. That thought brought them joy, I think. They need whatever hope I can give them in times such as these.

  I have just gotten a letter from the powers that be that my position within the government is to start the first of the year. I am nervous, especially because I lack experience. It is only a desk job, but I hope it is the first stepping stone on my journey forward.

  -Little Combat Training: Her use of the force has taken precedence, thus she never saw the need for such training.
