General Information
Personality
Connections
Strengths & Weaknesses
  • [+] Passing Shadow: As a Shadow, Kal can swap bodies at his leisure, travel through the Nether safely, and spy away unnoticed by most.
  • [+/-] Subtle Hand: A penchant for precision and subtlety is quite the boon, when cultivated, but is ill-suited for tests of raw strength.
  • [-] Immaterial: Kal is vulnerable to all manner of sorcerous/Forceful shenanigans without the insulation a borrowed body provides.

Kal's Curios:
Hall of Faces:
  • Anric Ferevin Vae, Echani Noble. Young Adult, Male. Ties to the royal court of Eshan, often seen with Noelle Varanin.
    • Departed Eshan with his family at the age of twelve only to suddenly return a decade later, or so the story goes; in actuality, the identity was bought from the real Anric, who now lives on a resort world under a new name and face.
  • Various names and identities. 'Crown', 'Vriss N'Vev', 'Vu Krell', etc.

Chapter Summary:
  • Having fairly recently made his way to Realspace, Chapter Zero is defined by Kal improving his understanding of organics (having largely been limited to watching without interaction) and making a fair few blunders along the way, perhaps most notably being trapped in a piece of jewellery by Noelle Varanin for a period of several months; his imprisonment is resolved amicably.
  • Kal's focus is primarily on understanding mortals, not acquiring power. He does practice a bit, however.

Chapter Summary:
  • More confident in Realspace, Kal gradually becomes more aware of his strengths and weaknesses. He works to increase his own understanding of the galaxy and the power base of his associates. Furthermore, he meets Noelle on several occasions, including helping rescue her mother from a particularly nasty part of the Netherworld. Finally, he continues to expand his understanding of the Sith - while simultaneously engaging with less destructive groupings closer to the Core.
  • Kal's influence among his associates grow due to several key acquisitions and a cooperative attitude.

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Protoshades
  • Designation: Semi-Sentient (Variable)
  • Origins: The Netherworld of the Force
  • Average Lifespan: Ageless (Risk-Dependent)
    • Many Protoshades perish within a few years of beginning to exist, but some live for many millennia.
  • Estimated Population: Scattered; rarely found outside the Netherworld of the Force except in the company of Shadows.
  • Description: [ Provide a short paragraph that describes this species at a glance. More in-depth descriptions can be added in distinctions below. ]
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: N/A | Variable (Possession)
  • Average Height of Adults: ~1 metre (Cloud-Form)
  • Average Length of Adults: ~1 metre (Cloud-Form)
  • Skin Colour: Variable, usually shades of black, white, and blue.
  • Hair Colour: N/A, but a few are able to take humanoid forms with semi-convincing 'hair'.
  • Distinctions: Protoshades are sentient (or not) clouds of semi-corporeal matter roughly a metre in diameter when in a restive state, typically referred to as their 'Cloud-Form'. All but the most experienced of their kind are unable to maintain a stable form when excited; they may hold a vaguely humanoid outline one moment only to turn into something more serpentine the next. They have no vital organs or central nervous system - every part of their body (and mind/soul), the line is blurry) is largely interchangeable. Newborn Protoshades are likely to be a great deal smaller than mature specimens; they tend to grow stronger with age and their size may or may not grow accordingly.
  • Races: [ Not subspecies, distinct cultural or physical races (aka, just like human races). ] / ...
    • Great Ancients are the greatest and most powerful of their kind, the eldest of which are said to have lurked in the shadowy corners of the Netherworld during the golden age of the Infinite Empire. Primordial beings of alien intellect, they are only rarely able to commune with sane sentients. They spend much of their existence in hibernation; some believe the Maw of Masque to be such an entity.
    • Awakened Ones are (Most sentient, can be transformed into Shadows?)
    • Chained Ones are
    • Nether Furies are (Unbound and Unconstrained. Feed on souls? Violently assault organic life.)
  • Force Sensitivity: High. All Protoshades are tied to the Force, but only about one in five has the potential to wield it as a Force User would, the rest are still universally Force Attuned, of course. Even the least sensitive among them can perceive major fluctuations in the Force.
STRENGTHS
  • Born of the Force: Directly formed from Force energies, the biological trickery of Ysalamiri does not function on their kind; Void Stone and other strange materials can weaken or contain them, however, as can properly-calibrated Universal Energy Cages and similar technology.
  • Grasp of the Void: Protoshades are able to drain energy with a touch - unless blocked/resisted they can swiftly incapacitate or even kill an organic. Even droids are not safe, for they hungrily devour the contents of power cells until that which they fuel lies darkened and inert.
  • Mindful Matter: The body of a Protoshade is a decentralised mass that can be twisted into a variety of forms with unearthly speed.
  • Empty Space: Protoshades, being only partially corporeal, are largely unaffected by kinetic force and physical obstacles.
WEAKNESSES
  • Partial Corporatility: Protoshades are more vulnerable to purely material weaponry than most spirits - even blasters can wound them should they be sufficiently potent or strike a densely-focused 'body part'; lightsabers and disruptors make short work of most of their kind.
  • Scattered Essence: While largely unaffected by blades or bullets, sonic weapons scatter the physical form of Protoshades.
  • Born of the Force: Protoshades are particularly vulnerable to anti-Force measures, Magic, and ray shielding.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Thaumovore; Protoshades are sustained through the Force itself. Can feed off of ambient heat while in Realspace.
  • Communication: Communicate primarily through telepathy; may communicate in emotions and images alone or in structured thoughts.
  • Technology Level: Protoshades have little incentive to use, let alone develop tools, despite a certain degree of innate curiosity.
  • Religion/Beliefs: Protoshades are individuals first and foremost. Even when they gather in large numbers, any obedience they feel is based on loose hierarchies of strength or knowledge, not faith or ideology. They may utilise either or both sides of the Force without social censure.
  • General Behaviour: [ Describe general behaviors such as: family life, values, how they raise their young, how they find mates, how they interact with the world and other species around them. Do they hunt? Do they build? Are they inventors? Are they explorers? Are they nocturnal or diurnal? Do they attend schools? Etc, etc. ]
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
[ Include a description of the species history here. If your species is genetically engineered or Sithspawn please describe the process through which they were created, by who, and why. Explain the various challenges encountered during their creation. Most galactic species will be quite old - include major events relevant to the species in how they evolved and developed into what they are today where appropriate. Including Chaos canon events, where they impacted the history of this species, is a plus. ]

PROTOSHADOWS - What Adrian used! The most cognizant changed? SHADOW SERVANT? More tangible than their masters?

Born non-sentient, grow smarter with age and experience - can achieve Sentience, but most don't. Those in service to the Shadows will be offered the chance to 'ascend' if they Awaken, to prohibit this for personal gain will invoke strict censure.
