- The Magnum Opus -
- Built as Maliphant's own personal staff, based on his prior ownership of the Darkstaff, Maliphant saw fit to create a staff that could magnify his potential in the Force many times over. With studies done on the Sceptor of Ragnos, Kala'anda was formed; able to multiply his power in the force many times over, wherein he is already a master of its use. Effectively, this puts him in the top .1% of all Force Users - if not even further considering his baseline.
- Force Hound -
- Built with the secondary purpose of being Maliphant's personal weapon on the battlefield, the Bone Dragonhead of the staff serves a secondary purpose as a Forcesaber; forming when Maliphant encourages it to do so using the Dark Side. This creates an adjustable blade who's cutting power is restricted to Maliphant's own mind - being a stun saber in one moment, and a hyper lethal killing machine the next.
- The Soul -
- Due to the difficulties in crafting the Kala'anda, there was no simple solution to give it as much power as it has. While most of Maliphant's alchemic creations can simply use his blood - and take from him a portion of his force potential, the Kala'anda would not be so satisfied with the tithe he would normally offer. Instead, Maliphant was forced to tie his very Soul to the staff; the only thing with the energy and potential to provide it with its great power. Because of this, if it is ever destroyed, by Force Light or otherwise, it will do irreversible harm to Maliphant; very likely destroying his own personal Force Potential, or ending his life with no chance of resurrection.
- Disturbance In the Force -
- As the name suggests, the Kala'anda's power is so substantial its mere existence can send ripples through the Force for many astronomical units. Entire planets can feel its presence like a stranger breathing down their neck, it can make Jedi sweat from a system away, and the sensitive can feel it from entire sectors away - effectively making it something that can not be hidden by anyone, as even non-force users can feel its dangerous sensation from instinct alone. Like a predator watching from the bushes, one simply knows its presence means danger.
- Nothing -
- Due to the dangers, Ysalamiri poses to Force Artifacts and Sensitives alike, the Kala'anda does not operate when within the field of a Ysalamiri. Neither its force augmentations nor its Forcesaber emitter - as both require the Force to be utilized. This makes the weapon semi-useless within such spheres, though it should be noted it can still be used to bonk someone extra hard.
Originally, Maliphant had recreated the legendary and nightmarish Sith Artifact known simply as the Darkstaff - a cruel abomination of a staff created by an unknown victim of its murderous rampage. Using the help of Velok of Toola and the leftover shards from his own destruction of it - the Darkstaff was recreated by someone far too inexperienced to contain such a weapon; which in time would prove itself more burden than a boon.
Despite Maliphant's exceptional prowess in the Force, the Darkstaff would invade his mind and slowly deteriorate any health he might've had. Convincing him to attempt the murder of

, the destruction of entire city populations, and eventually leading to the near destruction of his entire body through its attempts to take him over - it would eventually be destroyed in the tunnels of Barbatos beneath the mount of Orobas Mons. Done through necessity, Maliphant was only able to overcome the staff after years of it hiding with his own midichlorians; crippling Maliphant for a time.
Fast forward years and Maliphant realized that despite all the costs of owning such a weapon, a Force Staff such as it could serve him just as well. Basing his design off the staff he had once created, and the further study of other ancient sith staffs, Maliphant worked through the forging process of a weapon that would serve as a new symbol of his power - pouring into it the entire repertoire of his alchemic knowledge. From the core to the forcesaber, it would take months to finish; even with an army of Tnikatah.
First, the core of the weapon was forged - though while Phrik was often enough alone to serve as a great base for any staff, as proven by historic Lightsaber Pikes, Maliphant knew that Phrik alone would not be able to handle the amplification of Force Energies through it. Instead, Maliphant drew up multiple designs for the core; various glyphs of ancient ur-Kittat were used along its length to protect from stresses it would no doubt face. Most of these would fail, though with the Tnikatah providing him with muscle and manpower, and Maliphant's own interjection, the eventual result was a solid bar of alchemized Phrik with glowing sigils - knowing simply as The Atiria.
The second was the Forcesaber emitter and Bone End Structure; forged and alchemized after collection efforts in several Sith Tombs on Korriban were raided for Maliphant's own purposes. Within them are the souls of hundreds, if not thousands, that were all absorbed into it to provide it with additional power; though with it came the sentience of single amalgamation of them, a being that calls itself simply 'Zutawohnasi', or as Maliphant prefers - Void. A Dark Side Entity that inhabits the Staff, serving as its protector and personification - assisting Maliphant in incantations, force powers, and sometimes its own machinations.
While Void is dangerous, the more direct danger to those that face the Kala'anda is the Forcesaber emitter from within the Dragon Bone mouth. Adjustable, with varying degrees of intensity ranging from a warm glow to a fully debilitating blade that pushes through armor, the Kala'anda's blade is as versatile as its owner. Doubly so, does it require the use of the Force; meaning that Maliphant's own strength, rage, and emotions in the Force can directly alter the way it appears or moves - making it even more dangerous than traditional lightsabers who rely on technology.
Last, is the leviathan leather wrap; collected from the ancient corpse of an exceptionally large one that once roamed Korriban's wastes, made directly by XoXaan herself. One of her own greatest creations, the leather is aged but just as reliable as it once was, reinforced by the Dark Side of the Force and the near-constant presence of such on Korriban. This makes the leather itself able to bind to Maliphant's flesh, provide a better means to channel his energy through the Staff and provide adequate protection while under heavy use.
Together, these pieces make up Kala'anda; and with it, Maliphant's magnum opus. Created for himself, by himself, it is to serve as Maliphant's primary means of weapon-based fighting; essentially becoming a direct and synonymous symbol with his overarching power. A representative of not only his power, however, it also provides a mere glimpse into the nature of his alchemic knowledge - serving as a beacon of respect for those with an eye for alchemic quality. A dangerous weapon, but one Maliphant intends to show off in full force when able.
