Although other shipwrights offer more opulent cruise liners, most of these vessels are relatively small and fragile. The Kalytera can house exponentially larger passenger counts in expansive comfort and unmatched security. First Class suites are palatial; Third Class/Steerage tickets are still as comfortable as any lesser ship. Individual First and Second Class suites, and blocks of Third Class/Steerage rooms, can adjust for various atmosphere and gravity requirements. The same goes for the cuisine.
Iron Crown recommends a split crew, half to serve the ship's operational needs and half to accommodate the passengers. The ship's internal geography dovetails with a split-crew arrangement.
In extremis, the Kalytera's residential and recreational areas can be adapted to fit very large numbers of passengers in close confines, comparable to a bulk colony transport. The high-capacity life-support system can compensate for stresses of this order, for a period of weeks or months. In normal circumstances, the Kalytera's consumables and life-support can sustain the liner for up to five years.
Defensive arrangements include a honeycombed, multilayered hull capable of resealing after most breaches, with minimal loss of atmosphere. This system is designed to save compartments from impact or occasional weapons fire; it is not equal to the task of handling sustained anti-capital bombardment.
