PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Kan Callo is a cynical man of action who doesn't believe in luck. He believes that every failure in life is the product of a failure to plan and a failure to improvise. He has no sympathy for people in unfortunate circumstances, believing that they should get themselves out of their troubling circumstances and stop feeling sorry for themselves.

HISTORY
Kan Callo was born to Brita Callo, a prostitute working in the Pleasure Zone district of Morlana One. She did her best to raise and educate him, spending a portion of her earnings to hire tutors, and trading sex to customers who seemed to have useful skills in exchange for tutelage of her son. As time passed, she increasingly succumbed to depression and drug use, and eventually overdosed and perished shortly after Kan's twelfth birthday. Kan discovered her body, wept, and then ran away, He would come to resent his mother, who- to his grief-stricken mind- had abandoned him to a cruel world by losing herself in drug use.
He stowed away aboard a Bounty Hunter's freighter, anxious to be anywhere else in the whole galaxy. He was nearly spaced when he was discovered. The Bounty Hunter, a Gamorrean named Bonto Bak, took pity on him. He employed young Kan for menial tasks such as cooking, cleaning, assisting with repairs, and eventually helping to guard and care for bounties brought aboard the ship. As the Gamorrean aged, he started needing more and more help. He taught Kan how to shoot, how to fly. Then, when Kan was in his early twenties, a Bounty went very wrong. Bonto Bak was gutshot, and Kan Callo was shot in the face. The world went black, and he assumed that he was dying.
Some time later, he awoke in a hospital to find that Bonto Bak was dead.
Kan had received very expensive augmentation to reconstruct part of his face and restore his vision with cybernetic prosthetics. Mortally injured, Bonto had pawned his ship from his hospital bed to get the funds needed for his and Kan's treatment. Kan survived his treatment. Bonto, already infirm with age, did not survive.
Once Kan was sufficiently recovered, he went to the yard which had purchased the freighter and tried to buy it back on an installment plan, thinking to take local jobs until he could re-acquire the ship and re-enter the trade of the interstellar Hunter.. They refused. So Kan snuck into the yard, torched it, and stole the ship. With the yard torched, along with all of its records, there was no proof they had conducted a legal pawn purchase of the ship. Kan worked with a criminal to forge a will that could be used to transfer ownership of the ship to him 'legally.' Bonto had no relatives to notice or complain.
Now, with the ship his free and clear, he continues the trade of Bounty Hunter and sometime Assassin, cutting a swath of ruthlessness across the galaxy.
