- Amphistaff: The Karir Staff is essentially an Amphistaff with one extra bonus. Due to this the weapon has all the benefits and abilities of a regular Amphistaff.
- Force Sense: Though by and large the normal function of a Karir staff is exactly the same as a standard Amphistaff, the weapon has one unique ability that sets it apart from it's cousins. The Karir staff is able to 'detect' force users at a range of about five meters. The Creature is capable of 'sniffing' out nearby use of the force, pin-pointing the location and source.
- Amphistaff: The Karir staff is essentially an amphistaff with one extra bonus. This means that it has all the standard weaknesses of a regular Amphistaff.
- Allergy: Still a living organism, the Karir staff is a changed version of the amphistaff. These changes have unfortunately lead the Karir staff to have more allergies than just Spark Bee Honey and Baffor Tree Pollen. Oddly enough the Karir staff developed allergies to frond-grass(a plant found on Mandalore), as well as the miraculous healing substance Bacta, application of which causes the Karir Staff to go into a coma like state.
The Karir Staff is a development that came about at the hands of the Mandalorian Scientist known as Sel Wyrick.
Sel is a researcher that previously worked for Aryn Spar and the once Mand'alor Ra Vizsla, a man who has mostly remained within the shadows but did the work of Death Watch behind a veil of secrecy. Wyrick has been, and always was, a Mandalorian extremist, one who believes completely and entirely in the Vision set out originally by Ra.
This has lead much of his research to lead into the use of the force and it's suppression within living beings.
A natural avenue of this research lead Wyrick to the Yuuzhan Vong.
Though a very strange and different technology, Sel managed to get a hold of several Yuuzhan Vong biots as well as research conducted by some of the shaper caste. Utilizing this, Sel gained enough insight and knowledge into the workings of the Yuuzhan Vong's technology to begin to graft and create new forms of life.
The first of these 'inventions', was the Karir Staff, or Hunter's Staff. A weapon that would be capable of weeding out and 'sensing' force users hidden among his fellow Mandalorians.
