Despite his jovial outlook, the life of Karos Spinner is that of great tragedy. Born to a family of migrant Rishii, Karos never knew his native world of Rishi, as his family had hoped to build a better life for themselves in the Core. This was not to be, as the Spinners would find their shuttle attacked by pirates, who sold them and the other passengers aboard the vessel into slavery. Karos would be seperated from his family, whom he would never see again as they were shipped off to work in the spice mines of Kessel. Karos, who was abnormally large for his species, was taken to be a gladiator, where he would be forced to kill other sentient beings to survive, greatly honing his instincts. The young Rishii would be physically tested well beyond his limits, forced to endure similarly desperate combatants in order to keep himself alive. For five years would he do this before his salvation came. A slave revolt would inevitably free him, orchestrated by a Jedi Knight who would find the teenage Karos and discover his force sensitivity. Karos would be taken into the New Jedi Order, where he would become a padawan and begin his studies as a peacekeeper.
Unfortunately, this didn't end the feathered being's suffering. Before advancing to the next rank, Karos would be sent with a squad of fellow classmates to participate in a particularly bloody battle. Of the 17 padawans that were dispatched, he was the only one to return. Karos was awarded knighthood for his valor, but ended up spiraling into a depressive state. For a year's time, the Rishii went rogue, setting off on a violent crusade against the criminal underworld and leaving a bloody trail across the galaxy. Upon seeing the wake of his destruction wiping out a band of smugglers, Karos found himself sobered, disgusted by his actions. For a year longer he would go into exile, reflecting upon the state of his very soul. Karos would return a much more peaceful man, taking up the art of Soresu and taking a vow of pacifism. From this point on he would be a defender, sparing his enemies and being the shield of his allies. Eventually, the Rishii would rise to the rank of Jedi Master, but not before seeing Gotto Sorendu through his trials, with whom he would form a very close relationship which some described as parental.
Karos briefly fell back into turmoil when his newly knighted student went on a mission and never returned. Unknown to the order, Gotto had become sealed within the earth of Devaron, so he was declared MIA. Karos frantically searched for his former padawan but found no success. With a heavy heart, the Rishii called off the search after three years of tireless investigation. Again he would go into exile, processing these events. In time, he would once again find peace, and would later come to be overjoyed upon the safe return of Gotto after five years of absence. Having finally achieved a state of peace, Karos now spends his days in the Jedi Temple, offering his aid and wisdom to those who may seek it. In his spare time, Karos is also known to tend to the gardens. He also now watches over Shem Spinner, his great nephew, a member of his estranged family from Rishi that he managed to reconnect with.
