Born to Zakar and Khitha Vass in 856 ABY, Kase lived an idyllic life on the First Order throneworld of Dosuun. His father was teaching Pre-Gulag History at the University of Avalonia, with his mother set to retire from the Armed Forces following the conclusion of the First Order-Galactic Alliance War.
Then the Fall occurred. In. 856 ABY, the First Order was invaded by the Ssi-Ruuk Imperium in force. In the chaos of rampage of the Ssi-Ruu and the sundering of Dosuun, Khitha was KIA. Heartbroken, Zakar took a leave of absence to mourn. Shortly thereafter, a representative of the Dosuun Hegemony attempted to strong-arm him into service for the Sith Empire client state. "We can take you, or we can take the boy", the man sneered. Forced into a corner, Zakar slew the man and fled Dosuun, returning to Haruun Kal to entrust Kase to the stewardship and protection of his Ghôsh before returning to take the fight to the Hegemony, taking up the saber once more.
While Zakar fought a guerilla war, Kase lived in the relative safety and anonymity provided by living on a fairly unknown Mid-Rim world in Confederate space among his family. Under the watchful eye of the patriarch of Ghôsh Vass and his uncle, Sinhton, Kase thrived on Haruun Kal, making fast friends, deepening his familiarity and connection with the Force, and evening bonding a familiar- an akk dog named Rhogo. Four years came and went. With the triumph over the Ssi-Ruuk invaders, and the expungement of the Dosuun Hegemony, Zakar sent for Kase to return to his side. Set to resume his teaching duties at the University, he was pleasantly surprised when he was informed that he had been appointed to the Moff Council to be Minister of Education.
The sudden elevation of his father to such a post left him with little time to care for his son between his Moff duties, teaching, and lightsaber instructions on a part-time basis at the invitation of Ser Matma Bernu, leader of the First Imperial Knights and one of Zakar's closest friends, and Kase's godfather. Left in the care of rotating nannies and Rhogo, Kase chose to dedicate his time to martial arts over his education- a point of contention with the scholarly Zakar and his child.
In 867 ABY, Csilla was destroyed by the Brotherhood of the Maw, exacerbating a refugee crisis set in motion by the Brynadul invasion. On Dosuun, a cadre of xenophobic government officials, blaming aliens and the Force users for social upheaval, maligned the refugees as they engineered a vast conspiracy to overthrow the Supreme Leader. Zakar- a champion of equality in the First Order- decried the bigotry. When the time struck, the conspiracy struck, rallying militias of the disaffected to march on Avalon, while simultaneously triggering a number of bombs at the houses of key figures in the regime. Castle Invictus- sanctorum sanctum of the First Imperial Knights- was razed to the ground in a coordinated attack.
Zakar Vass, sensing the danger in their household, only narrowly saved his son from the explosion before succumbing to his injuries. The conspiracy was put down, but the danger of Zakar's enemies was still prevalent. With no option, Matma fled, taking Kase to live on Haruun Kal once more. Over the intervening years, Kase changed. The death of his father made him re-examine his goals, choosing to honor his father by choosing to continue his education and become a physician. Over the intervening years, he did so, studying intensely between clan deployments to war-torn worlds, honing his skills as a warrior and medic as he served his tenure as a brother of the Ghôsh.
On his 18th birthday, Kase left Haruun Kal, making for Bastion to live near his god-father. There, he was accepted as a Knight-Errant, and enrolled at the University of Bastion, with the stipulation that the Knights would pay for his tuition, cost of attendance, and expedite his citizenship into the Empire- in return for at least five years of public service.
'A new day begins."
