The Sage River

It was a mountainous region. Covered by tall, tall trees and a jagged river canyon. Flocks of white avians flew over the river-side cabana, chirping and squawking as they went. Donna looked up and smiled. Another perfect day.

Donna stood upon a small motorized riverboat. An exotic Wookiee design. She leaned over the side and hurled a large drone into the water. Splash. The warm water was muddy and full of reeds. It would make the excavation even harder. Dark water made for poor visibility on the drone's cameras.

The Silver Jedi were looking for a crashed asteroid that landed in the river yesterday. They had to be getting close now. The standing radiation was spiking on the boats scope. Less than 60 meters now. Donna nodded to the riverboats Captain and the four other human crewmates. This dive would surely be the winning bet.

A perfect afternoon adventure.

Ever since her trip to a dangerous mountain covered planet with her slightly childish master Sukai had re sparked her want for adventure and as such had literately jumped at the new expedition that the Jedi had sent to investigate an old asteroid crash of years past being of great interest to the knowledge seeking scholar Jedi.

The head of their expedition, a new addition to the Jedi a certain [member="Donna Matthews"], though new to the order was older then herself, so out of respect had not problems with the woman being the lead on the adventure into the depths of the Kashyyk jungle and mountain regions, far away from the SJO complexes. "Matthews-sama, may I inquire onto what you suspect we may find at this crash site"?

Being on the dreaded planet was hard enough let alone the consequences of trying to trespass here. But it was all the same for the reward. Laith did not know what the Silver Jedi Order would do to him if he was caught, but it was a possibility. If he didn't get caught that was. Not that long ago, he was briefed of an asteroid that had crashed into a river. For whatever reason, it was a prize that treasure hunters would admire, and a credit builder at that. Varad was in the poor right now, so the credit's were good based off a pay that comes off mysteriously. The site that the asteroid crashed in itself had it's distance from the main bases of the SJO. But it was still considered trespassing because of the constant patrols of this area. He was lucky to break atmosphere in this area in the first place.

Varad had looked out from an unusually large tree, looking at the the flow of a river, that might had led to the crash site. The radiation level was getting higher by each step he took. Almost to the point where he could smell it. He tuned a little to his left, looking at the possible place of the crash site. He was only a few meters away from what was the high radiation spike. But there was another object. A boat, with approximately seven people. Most likely force users. At this point he didn't want to cause anything that would get him caught. So he would have to avoid them for now.

The background radiation was nonlethal. Yesterday's ancient asteroid was composed of rare platnium deposits. The perfect catch to make a few thousand credits. Everybody wins.

Donna turned to Sky and nodded, "Rare metals. Maybe better. It survived rentry with a pink corona. So, it should be worth a few thousand to the rock boys back at the temple."

She smiled. Even a Jedi Temple needed to make money. Sometimes. Then there was an explosion upriver. Kapow. Donna almost forgot about the drone.

"What the!?"

The boat Captain rushed to the side. Then turned, "We'll check it out. You two should get off here."

Donna nodded. She could drive the drone from the shore. She didn't mind being alone near the shore. Might make the dig go smoothly anyway.

Sukai gave a nod, "Ah I see, monetary value, that is indeed important, the order could use any form of funding it can get its hand on, luckily this one so happened to drop in on our door step". With the relocation to the Wookie home world and loss of their original controlled area due to the the Sith Empire lethal onslaught the Order had lost quite a bit of funding, but till retained almost its whole strength, meaning just as much pay was needed to keep things going.

He thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a sudden explosion up ahead, sending a ripples through the water, rocking the boat slightly, what had caused it? Where they not alone? Whatever the case being on a small boat in plain sight did not seem like an ideal case, Sukai giving a quick nod to the captain at the request to disembark, "Tis be best to split up, least all meet an untimely demise". Using the force the young Jin leapt to the shore line, landing soflt against the soft grassy ground, waiting for the other Jedi to make her own way over.

Donna slipped over the side and fished her way over to the shore. Their boat turning and slowly paddling upstream. The birds retreating from the sudden noise in the distance. Donna climbed up on the muddy shore and kicked her boots against a log. Bleh.

"I've still got the drone module. I'll start her up and get looking around the river bottom for our asteroid. Cover me, yeah?"

She nodded to [member="Sky'ito Yumi"] . Because, well? This far out. You never know what is going to come out of these trees. Ugh. I mean. It could have been [member="Laith Varad"] for all she knew.

Trying to wait for the small boat to leave was a hassle, because it was not budging. It just didn't move. He knew if he didn't intervene right now, his prize was long gone, and into the hands of the Silver Jedi, something that he could not afford at this rate. He grabbed a thermal detonator, and armed it, the red light beeping as it as prepped to explode. He looked up a little upstream and chucked the thermal detonator as hard as he could, hitting right where he wanted it to land. It created an explosion, causing the boat to rock and causing two individuals to fall over into the river. Just as he had planned, it was all going so smoothly at the moment. But it was not time to sneak past yet. He had to wait for what was next. As he watched, he noticed a figure wash up by the side of the river, and another following. One person looked like they fiddling with a drone of some sort. For all Varad could care for, the drone was one of the least of his problems. He leaped across onto a tree branch not to far away, and did the same thing over and over until he reached his destination, the boat. He scanned it now. Four people, armed but not heavily. Laith could take them all on, it was not a hassle. All he had to do was wait until the crew least expected it...

Sukai kept her eyes and ears pealed as the two stood by the shore, there was no telling who had caused that explosion, but there was no doubt that such a rare and valuable find would be contested. With whom though was the big question, she did not think the Sith or First Order would bother, their use of force labor and large empires having little need for cash, the Galactic Alliance not being one to try something so... rash.

With all this complied and what information her mother was willing to leak about her past, Sukai could only think of the Mando Empire or the Hutt Cartels. The Mandos where in a similar position to the Jedi, not much land under their control, and numerous factions waging war against them, they needed funding and would probably go the great lengths in order to obtain it. The Hutts, that was very easy, for money, but probably decorations as well, the powerful crime lords often using strange and rare items to furnish their private rooms.

"It be best to get the drone up and running, good aerial coverage, try and nail who ever caused that explotion... I have a bad feeling we will hear from them again soon".

[member="Laith Varad"] was about to make a very costly mistake. Violence against the galaxies largest space wizard faction, on their own turf, and so near reinforcements, would have been the worst possible strategy any soldier could employ. Tsk tsk tsk. If he was smart? Oh no. No no no. He'd try make friends today. Not enemies.

Elsewhere. Nearer the sharply rising shore. Donna turned her muddy boots to [member="Sky'ito Yumi"] and smiled. Her drone that lay resting in the water was an underwater recovery drone. Shaped like a fish, it was just over a meter in length with two hidden capture claws. A perfectly aquatic device. And nah. It wasn't meant for flying either.

"Hehe. I think I'll just get started on searching the river bottom." She giggled, "Let me know if the Force begins to waver. I do hate disturbing mother nature so."

Donna began the power up sequence for her metal toy. Meanwhile, the Captain of the rivercraft was still patrolling upriver. His little vessel moving slowly forward. Wondering why on earth they hadn't seen any smoke yet either? Hmm.

He reached for his radio. Maybe someone else had seen something?

It was now or never. Any attempt to get this so called rock, Varad was game. A few casualties wouldn't hurt anyone, would it. As the boat crept to a slow halt, it was now time. Varad had reached for a rounded cylindrical canister. He had pulled the pin and let it drop freely on the boat. He knew it wasn't going to kill them, but it was enough time for an advantage. The grenade falls and a silver mist ejects from it. Knockout gas. As soon as the mist gets nout, one by one the fall, unconscious. Perfect, just as planned. The rock was now only about 30 meters away, so it was only a matter of time before he got there. He looked down at the patrol boat. As long as they weren't dead he wouldn't be getting into trouble. He hopped across another set of trees to see a light green grow coming out of the river. Bingo.

Sukai mentally slapped herself for thinking the drone was an aerial unit, the asteroid would be at the bottom of the river bed, probably firmly in place, such that it would take a few force users or some heavy machinery to dislodge it from its place. "Ah ha, yes silly me, that would make sense, it looks cool I must say, ah I'm getting distracted, go to keep on guard, lest the next explosion comes our way right".

As [member="Donna Matthews"] went back to preparing the drone Sukai reached hand out, feeling around with the force for any disturbance, of the person who caused the explosion intended to kill them she would feel their intent though the force, not enough to know where they where or anything else, but enough to anticipate and attack coming. No such feeling came, but instead Sukai felt the force signature of the boat crew change suddenly, on by one, though to to a state of being dead.

"We have company, the boat crews been knocked out by some means", her tone was now serious, true they may not be dead, but it meant there was some skilled out their with some fancy tech who was not on their side.

Donna was practicing with the drone when [member="Sky'ito Yumi"] raised the alarm. This caused Donna to look up from her remote control and feel into the Force. Sure enough. Something had changed.

"I'll call it in."

She placed the remote control inside a log and retreated to firmer ground. Her mind now resting closer to her Lightsaber than ever before. Then she closed her eyes and opened up a mental connection with Master Bastille back at the Temple. Quietly letting him know that something about their expedition had gone quite wrong. And, to send back up.

"It's done. Rangers are on their way."

Donna opened her eyes. Good. Help was on the way. Now all that was left was to figure out what was going on? It was [member="Laith Varad"] move.

He had hopped down into the river, trudging his feet along the bottom until his feet hit what was according to his senses, the meteorite. It was pretty big and had quite the weight to it. But an average pull and a tug wouldn't do. He would need that patrol boat. As he trudged along the river once more, he came across the patrol boat, climbing on and throwing the unconscious crew into the river, to float. As started it up, he checked all of the signs to make sure it was towable. And sure enough, in a few minutes to roll up the river, he and his ship would be out of this dreaded planet of the SJO, and untraceable as well. The plan couldn't have gone any better.

Sukai slowly back away and out of clear site as [member="Donna Matthews"] mentally called for help, the good thing about this was that it could not be traced, their would be competition as such unable to know more help was on the way. "You do the done thing, I'll take a look at who is trying to take that asteroid from us". Now with a hypothetical limited time frame until their thief got wind of the Jedi reinforcements, or somehow claimed the asteroid for himself Sukai decided to investigate the patrol boat and what had become of the crew.

Taking action Sukai started to leap from tree to tree, making her way to the boat, upon getting closer spying a man throwing the crews bodies overboard, "I've spotted the target, his disposing of the bodies right now... possible going to use the boat to salvage the asteroid". She whispered into her comlink for Matthews to hear, 'I can't let him get away with this', using a force leap Sukai made an attempt to jump onto the boat and hopefully apprehend the suspect.
