Public Kattada Open House

Kattada Enclave was a varied organization. Some Jedi, some Force users who were not Jedi, but at least were centered on the light side and against the dark side, and even some non-Force users who were at the world and the Enclave to help the Light side, or even just using the Enclave's infrastructure for exploration and taking some odd clandestine jobs. The training was varied, both with the Force and without.

A call had been sent to many of the students and members of the Enclave who weren't already on missions or embedded in their own tasks.

It was a bit of a meet and greet mixed with mission assignment. The town of Tidehome and the Witches arrived early, to help set up. A few vendors were here selling their wares, ranging from the mundane explorer assistance tools, stuff that was Outer Rim or Levantine surplus, to the more rare, Force imbued items to help with seeking artifacts and defending oneself against the monsters that may be found looking for resources or seeking the riches of the past.

Coren Starchaser, Jedi Master and Watchman of the Kattada Enclave was present in the main gathering room, in his typical blend of a Jedi Mantle and spacer uniform. Stepping around and greeting the various students, he was checking his datapad, and assigning those who requested to various ships, serving as navigators on pathfinder teams, or pairing students with older Jedi to get out into the depths of the Rim.

It was different than his last life, but for the best, he was there to rescue those who needed it. And pacing like this, with the other Sentinel leadership allowed him to mingle with the masses.

Several missions were going to have a decent pay off.

OOC: Gathering at Kattada Temple, use it to get explorer gear including things imbued by Witches, find a hook for an exploration mission, or even develop other aspects of your character. Coren will be around but also feel free to work amongst other writers or tell your own story!

Casaana wasn't sure what she was supposed to be doing. It seemed like she'd joined the Enclave only yesterday, and today she'd been told to report to the city for some type of fair or expo. She'd wandered around, looking at various bits of exploration gear from the new to probably ready for the recycler as well as supposed Force artifacts. None of which she knew if she needed, how to use, or if she could even afford. Not for the first time, she fervently wished she had a master to mentor her instead of the endless cycle of classes and training that she'd received in each new temple. Still, she held out hope that Kattada would be different.

The young teen had picked up a tea in one of those paper cups with the plastic lid and was sipping on it as she entered the main room. There she just sort of followed the flow of people moving around until she found herself before Master Starchaser. "Master." She greeted him. "I hear you're passing out assignments. You happen to have a Master to assign me to on that pad of yours?" It was cheeky, and probably not a good first impression, but she was beyond ready to get training. And he looked like a pretty cool guy for an old master. Like a cool uncle in his traveling clothes. Not that Casaana'd ever had an uncle.

He was not here for a mission, he had been on enough of them to fill an archive.

He was not here for equipment, he had more than enough of his own.

He was not even here simply to be social, he was rather introverted to be honest.

So why was Caltin Vanagor here? Simple, to look around and to support an old friend in his own endeavor.

The planet was lovely, so much in fact that the beaches drew Chrysa to them the moment they had landed (he would join her later) right now, the big man wanted to see the Temple for himself, if nothing more than to take notes and maybe take inspiration for the Shadow Temple in an of itself. Starchaser seemed busy with groupings of Padawans circled around him so Caltin would wait for the Daydreamer to finish.

He could have a little fun right now and tell them to ask him to regale in stories about his adventures and past actions. Vanagor didn't indulge in this though, to give the man his dignity, not to mention, Coren could turn the tables on him in return.

So as the big man looked around waiting, he wondered about much of what the place was capable of. Was this a Temple of purpose? In that there was a focus on exploration? Or was that a generous byproduct? It was absolutely fine if that was the case, but food for the soul nonetheless. There were many Temples, Sanctuarys and Enclaves out there which are really only open simply for the sake of being open. That was a failure in its own right to the Jedi who frequented them.

That was a conversation for another day though.

The Kattada Enclave was fairly new to Hwo. Jedi Master Coren Starchaser was not. Years of missions across the galaxy had seen the two men meet on occasion. Besides, the elder Starchaser’s exploits were noteworthy, and stories of his adventures could be heard even in his absence. So when he sent an invitation for his fellow Jedi to join him on Kattada for what could be best described as an open house, Hwo uncharacteristically accepted.

As Hwo made his way through the crowd, he was impressed by the eclectic group that had answered the same call. For too long, the various orders of Jedi had been too insular, too singularly focused, too caught up in their own traditions and practices. That ethos was non-existent here. Hwo was particularly pleased to see the presence of lightside witches, a sect whose powers intrigued him, partly because his admitted ignorance of their ways.

He browsed the items for sale by the various vendors lining his path, some charms and trinkets occasionally catching his eye. It was hard to differentiate junk from treasure, but he noted the stalls of interest with intentions to return after making his rounds.

There was a lot of work to do with running an Enclave. Especially one with an Exploration/Frontiers Corp attached to it. Coren didn’t mind the work, though. It kept him busy, and while he could be out in the war fighting against the Sith, that time for him was over. He knew that. And it was okay by him. But being here, when he wasn’t off on his own artifact hunts? That gave him a way to keep helping. He was training others, putting them in the right places at the right times. Checking his datapad as he issued another order of a Jedi Navigator to another exploration vessel, one of the few frigates the Kattada Enclave had, he turned to hear another voice.

Teen Jedi Padawan, yeah? Took him a second to call the name up in his head, Casaana. Was always good to see the youths getting out there. And did he have a Master for her?

“You’re looking for one, then?” He scrolled on the screen, looking for her name. “Padawan Casaana, records are still updating, you’re new here, yeah?”

There was a clear bit of … not anxiety but apprehension from Coren, with the younger crowd around him. He wanted to keep Jedi interested in his Enclave’s goals, but to not put distance between his place and any others.

The hall was filled Jedi Tech Specialists and Witches, selling wares, or even riddles and clues of where to find some hidden artifact or another. It was easy to grab a side quest if one was lurking enough. Kattada was an open book, the rules were to follow the light, and then to chase the horizon.

She nodded, not too surprised that he recognized her. "Yes Master. Not even a week now." A sip of the tea she still carried gave her a moment to calm her nerves. She'd spoken with Grandmasters before, like Valery Noble, even then just approaching one she'd never met before and asking for a Master could best be described as 'cheeky.' But unlike the others around them, she wasn't interested in new gear or hidden treasure, but a genuine connection to someone and training outside the classroom and practice ring.

Equipment: Gwen's attire, Echo stone, Carved wooden luck charm, wooden quarterstaff, slingshot

Gwen dropped from the sky in hawk form before landing into her Kiiroid form, checking her hair in the reflection at one of the stalls before continuing onward. She loved exploring and had come along to this invite in the hope that she might find like minded individuals. She looked around the others gathered here. She recognised Starchaser from somewhere but she had met so many Jedi in her travels, including that rather strange movie night in the coruscant temple, that she could not place where.

"Hey" she said coyly to the others in waiting. "I'm Gwen, it's a pleasure." she looked at one of the stalls and raised her hand pulling a small pouch to her with the force to inspect it. Her eyebrows raised at the vendor when she examined the leather that the item was made from "Interesting choice." she laughed, this was definately the skin of a sapient, but who was she to judge, perhaps he didn't even know.

“You’ll have to teach me how to do that sometime,” Hwo remarked to the young lady examining the leather good. “How to fly like a hawk, that is.” He had come across changelings in his travels, and he had always wondered at their ability to shift into animal forms. Not just a party favor, such a skill was incredibly useful in tight situations, especially when hunting artifacts in not so easy to reach locations.

“I must confess, as long as I have known Master Starchaser, this is my first visit to Kattada. Are things always this . . . busy around here?”

New people were still coming in. Kattada had been around as an Enclave, but more in its own shadow, hidden from the galaxy at large and open to those who found out about it. But one thing that was for sure, beyond the aging, and fairly non-existent lines of the Jedi Academy Network, and the Underground, not many knew about it. Still, explorers and Underground agents found those who could use the Force, and if they were in a difficult location? Moved them.

Sometimes they came to Kattada. Sometimes they remained. Others launched on their own adventures but remembered the coastal world to send others to Kattada’s warmth for training.

And even those, the ones that remained, most stayed to learn how to work with the Force and technology, how to expand their use of the Force. There was clear Jedi leaning, but also a blend of Wardens and witch schools of thought.

Looking at Cassana again, he smiled. “Glad to have you. Thats still pretty fast for a Master assignment. You haven’t been updated to this list yet, but I know I can find you one.” He nodded to the seats at one of the tables. Even if he couldn't take her, he knew one of his kids could always use someone to instruct, though they were much less Jedi than he. “Tell me about what you’ve been working on?”

That was better than she'd expected. Master Starchaser's compassion relieved the worries she'd carried of being outright denied or put off. Looking across at him after taking one of the indicated seats, she began. "I've a solid grasp of all the expected basics an Initiate is supposed to learn, and have progressed into Padawan studies, usually though the classes available to all at the major temples. I'm told I do well with the kinetic side of the Force, moving things around." Casaana omitted that she'd gotten so good by throwing small objects at other students that annoyed her. "I like the Sentinel Path of the Jedi, and have been studying Form Four and recently how to fly." She paused to think of what else to say, she wanted to impress but not come off as a know-it-all or suck up.

"I came here because I hoped to get a Master, but I'd also like to know more about flying, and machines," she hesitated now, her eyes drifting to the side as she recollected Tython, and the battle she'd participated in there along with her actions and the small group of friends made. "Healing too."
