- Heavy Hitter: The Keelkana packs a fairly good punch for her size, with heavy Scythe Spectrum Lasers and Aurora Bolt Heavy Plasma Energy Torpedoes which are well capable of breaking through heavy defenses, and dozens of supporting gun batteries.

The Keelkana-class Light Star Defender is a small star destroyer designed to act as the flagship of local Mid Rim planetary defense fleets or as a fast, heavy skirmisher in full blown war fleets. Most observers immediately notice the Keelkana's fast speed - the ship can regularly obtain speeds more typical of a ship half its size, especially when its engines are in boost mode. While designed to allow planetary defense fleets to quickly close in and destroy raiders before they have a chance to escape, this high speed also allows the Keelkana to outmaneuver many of its larger opponents. The Keelkana's weaponry is also fairly high-end: large numbers of gun batteries and heavy plasma energy torpedo launchers cover nearly every angle of approach, allowing it to quickly dispatch many of its opponents. Despite the Keelkana's offensive power and speed, it suffers somewhat in the number of small craft it carries as well as its weak shielding. Still, the Keelkana makes for a fairly good flagship in lesser priority sectors oro as extra muscle in large war fleets.
