Keep 'Em Comin'

Ossus

Jedi Master Marcello Matteo swept swiftly and abruptly through the halls of the Jedi Temple on Ossus. In recent months, he'd seemed to collect enough apprentices to start a small army. Did that mean there was an onslaught of Jedi biting at the heels of their Jedi Trials? No. No there was not.

If there was one irrefutable reality of Marcello's existence, it was that he maintained exceptionally high standards of himself and everyone even remotely associated with him. The Naboo native had lived a life of combat and war, so the current state of the galaxy was...awkwardly comfortable to him. In that vein, he knew that it was far too easy to grow lazy...forget the greater goal of their existence as Jedi.

More often than not, this resulted in Marcello's apprentices being abruptly dropped from his service because they either failed to listen or failed to fully grasp their role as a Jedi. It was his duty to guide and nurture, yes, but in the midst of a war...he could not and would not babysit. If they could not self-start, they had no business being Jedi in this galaxy period. When [member="Kiskla Grayson"] disbanded the Council, she did so with the intent and desire to remind all Jedi that they were part of a whole...but the whole didn't work if some part was fat, lazy, or inept.

Did this mean Marcello's former padawans ended up dismissed from the Order? Nope. They were just picked up by someone more tolerant, usually. That suited him just fine. Casually, he entered a room where a number of Padawans were milling about...waiting to find out their fate. Those that were selected by Knights and Masters for training would be advanced to the next phase, those that weren't would find fulfilling, useful careers in the Jedi Service Corps.

"Padawan Yusanis." Marcello's deep voice rumbled forth across the room as his massive frame came to a halt and his glacier-blue gaze searched the sea of eager Padawans.
