The history of podracing was one of experimentation and daring-do. It all was founded when a mechanic named Phoebos harnessed jet engines to a repulsorlift pod, and allowed his friend Gustab Wenbus to enter the cobbled vehicle into a race. From this first instance was the entire sport of podracing born. In the centuries since, many racers have lived and died at the mercy of the gauntlets. Yet, even presently, newer generations of racers have strapped in to fulfill their adrenaline rush.
It is this fascination with racing that drew young Khiro Rambuan to the sport. He was born on the Dug home-planet of Malastare to Ardennian parents. His father had found work on the planet as a mechanic maintaining a fuel processing plant's machinery. His mother was a homebody, taking care of Khiro and his six siblings. As the third born, he did not have the same expectations as his older brothers. While they went to Academy, Khiro was inspired by his father to take up the mechanics vocation.
As a youngling, he frequented various podracing events. He was in awe, both by the thrill of watching a high-speed race and with the construction of the racing pods. From then on, young Khiro had the dream in his heart to be a podracer.
At the age of 16, he began working on his own. He had learned mechanical skills from his father and used them in his first job. He was a mechanic at a repair shop and junkyard, owned by a jolly Dug named Selbarco. The old Dug was like a grandfatherly figure in Khiro's life. Khiro eventually made a deal with Selbarco: parts to build a podracer for extra time at work.
Over the years, Khiro eventually had enough parts to complete a full podracer with Selbarco's help. He entered it into an amateur race, and came in fourth place. Despite some damage, his placing as a newcomer managed to get Khiro a sponsor for professional racing.
Since then, Khiro has been a podracer even during recent times of galactic turmoil. He has upgraded his rusty, cobbled pod into the current Cerulean Fathier he races in. As a shout out to his roots, he keeps an advertisement for Selbarco's Garage on his racer.

- Many-Handed: As an Ardennian, Khiro has six arm-like limbs. Two of which are typically used as feet, but can act as an additional set of arms due to his opposable toes. This makes him extremely dexterous and nimble: perfect for the high-speed reactions needed to pilot a podracer and to better maneuver starship controls.
- Mechanically Adept:Thanks to the teachings of his father and Selbarco, Khiro is a very good mechanic. He is quite knowledgeable on how to repair starships, repulsorcraft, and occasionally droids. He just needs the right tools and parts.

- Short Statured: Because he is an Ardennian, Khiro does not stand very tall in comparison to average sentients. While he does have many hands to use in a scuffle, Khiro still has to overcome the height advantage of any opponent he has.
- Competitive: Being a racer comes with its own vices. While he is a good sport about most things, Khiro has a competitive streak that sometimes gets him into trouble. Both on and off of the race track.
- Civilian: Khiro, despite being a racer, is an average person. While he is no slouch and the average cantina brawl, he is not especially trained in combat. Should he ever face a soldier or other trained combatant, he will have to resort to other means for victory. This includes fighting dirty.
