SPECIAL FEATURES
  • The Banshee has the tactical flexibility afforded by variable firing modes.
    • Standard Spheres, colloquially referred to as 'Ripper Spheres', are the Banshee's default setting - condensed sonic energy is projected from the muzzle and contained within a spherical containment field. Once ruptured (ideally by contact with the target) a sudden burst of sonic energy is released. Unlike their Geonosian counterpart, Ripper Spheres are directional (from the point of contact) by default - this reduces the risk of collateral damage and intensifies the force focused on the target, but makes near-hits less effective.
    • Hardsound Pulses, colloquially referred to as 'Pacification Screeches', are weaker, more spread-out bursts - designed for crowd control over warfare, they cause intense pain and confusion in unprotected organics but have little effect on individuals with sealed helmets. It should be noted that the mode is less lethal, not non-lethal. User discretion advised - Globex takes no responsibility for improper use.
      • Can be dialled down to all but eliminate the chance of fatalities at the cost of suppression potential. Can also be turned up and condensed/narrowed down to achieve the sonic equivalent of a shotgun. Nasty stuff, really - referred to as a 'Ripper Pulse'.
    • Hardsound Beams, colloquially referred to as 'the Banshee's Wail', is the Banshee's most distinctive mode, a carefully calibrated beam of shimmering force that contains and directs a stream of sonic energy. Under ideal circumstances, even the most heavily armoured of foes can be pinned down and eliminated in this most unpleasant manner - a gruesome death by crushing and bludgeoning.
  • Field Stabilisation technology is able to increase a Banshee's range significantly - it can even be used by snipers with the right attachments. This range comes at the expense of firing speed since the strength of a containment field is proportional to the Banshee's 'spin-up' time.
  • Standard Configuration Banshees come equipped with foldable stocks for compact storage / close quarters usage.
STRENGTHS
  • Functional Design: The Banshee is sleek, cost-effective, and works in most environments. Variable firing modes expand its tactical profile.
  • Exploitable Flaws: Lightsabers rupture spheres instead of deflecting them and sonic weapons are often a secondary concern to armourers.
WEAKNESSES
  • Seas, Lakes, and Pools: The Banshee is waterproof, naturally... but pooled liquids are liable to rupture spheres and disperse sonic energy.
  • Needs a Firm Grip: The Banshee kicks notably harder than the common blaster - don't skip arm day if you plan to fire this baby in full auto.
DESCRIPTION
Weaponry is an arms race. The foolish think it is a matter of firepower alone, but that is not the case - exploiting weaknesses is just as important.

According to the Globex Corporation's analysts, a surprising number of otherwise bleeding-edge armour designs popular in the modern era have a glaring, borderline crippling weakness - sonic weapons. Understandable given their relative rarity, but exploitable nonetheless. As an added benefit, such weapons are far harder than the common blaster for lightsaber jockeys to deal with, marginally improving a soldier's survival chances.

That said, Globex does not recommend tangling with Force-wielding demigods in person. Artillery or orbital bombardment is preferable.
