- Guns: Big cannons, and rapid-fire energy allows the Kimbrell to fight and defend.
- Fighters: Starfighters at her disposal the Kimbrell is able to act, intercept, defend or strike at any moment.
- Slow: Due to the forward-fixed cannons, the Kimbrell’s speed is greatly hindered making her a great target for other vessels as she lumbers along in the void.
- Forward-Fixed: While packing massive cannons, they only fire one direction and requires the ship itself to turn when a target moves.
- Firing-Arc: There is a limit to the ship’s weapons in terms of arc, and a skilled pilot will certainly be able to notice.
- Soft Side: The Kimbrell does have armament on her ventral side, but not as many as others leaving her a little more vulnerable around this area when compared to others.
The Kimbrell Project started out as a strict carrier support star destroyer project, turned into a heavy carrier star destroyer project. The Kimbrell sports two brand new guns not seen in previous Primo Victorian projects. It combines aspects of the Rae Sloane, along with the Matsushima in terms of defense and advance systems.
It follows in a sense, a design philosophy similar to that of the Battlecarrier Hellstrom. Only in a smaller package with bigger guns on the front. The new forward-fixed Demeter that launches shells that are 36-in in diameter. The downside to this new cannon is that the ship itself must turn to fire on targets.
To compensate, she was given new Persephone-type mass driver canons, 9” cannons whose rate of fire more than make up for the time it would take the Demeter to load, aim and fire. Additionally, the Kimbrell was given turbolasers and ion cannons which go around the vessel, providing protection from stern to stem.
Like any carrier focused ship, the Kimbrell relies on her starfighters to see her through. She can hold up to 20 squadrons, with 18 of them dedicated to combat and 2 for support. While not without the teeth to defend herself with, these starfighters are meant to screen enemy craft and missiles and prevent them from making contact.
While Fiolette herself is not a fan of stealth systems, her daughter Ryssa convinced her that for the Kimbrell Project to keep it. This would allow the Star Destroyer to slip out of systems a lot easier while also heading into systems, and blocking communications - something the Kimbrell can do while engaged in its stealth mode.
It cannot however fire any weapons while in stealth, it must disengage stealth first before firing. Shields are also offline while the ship is in stealth, as all power is divererted to stealth systems, ensuring that the vessel is hidden from other ships. Included in the Kimbrell’s defenses is the Intrepid Ablative Emergency Hull, this hull would allow the ship another thirty seconds to jump into hyperspace and out of harm’s way.
