About: Kirie Ito is a female human born 828 ABY (32 yrs). She is a Knight-level, self taught Force user who's recently returned from six years of solitude and isolation, working as an explorer and spacer in the Outer Rim, Wild Space, and Unknown Regions. Since ending her self-exile, Kirie has returned tentatively to Galactic life, and seeks, through learning with the Jedi, to deepen her understanding of the Force, and find her place in a Galaxy that has been unkind to her. Kirie is profoundly deaf, and though she can speak aloud she prefers to communicate using Galactic Basic Sign Language.
STRENGTH | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
Intelligent and perceptive | Well-educated and with a natural knack for words, Kirie has a keen mind and a keen awareness of the temperament and character of others. |
Highly Force sensitive | A natural attunement with her environment and a deep connection to the Force has allowed Kirie to develop her Force abilities. Though untrained and ignorant in the complexities of the Force, she has grown adept in several abilities. |
Diligent | While always a hard worker, years of working alone on difficult contract work and managing odd-jobs has made Kirie especially reliable, honest, and determined to finish whatever task she takes on. |
ATTRIBUTE | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
Profoundly deaf | As a result of a childhood condition, Kirie is unable to perceive any sounds. She relies on her keen vision, lip reading, and sensory force abilities to get by. |
Autonomous | Alone for much of her adult life, Kirie has learned to rely on herself. She rarely asks for help, or seeks the company of others, and feels comfortable in solitude. |
Conflicted | In the years since she left home, Kirie has had to face the reality that the Galaxy is a messy place. Working alone in a hostile environment, she has had to question her principle of pacifism, and finds herself conflicted over her role in the Galaxy at large. |
WEAKNESS | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
Low physical strength | Though physically fit, Kirie is by no means an intimidating figure, and her abilities in tasks like heavy lifting are rather limited. |
Lonely | Troubled by intrusive thoughts and uncomfortable in the company of others, Kirie finds it difficult to settle in one place, and to form connections with other people. |
Biography:
Kirie Ito was born on Balmorra. As the daughter of a poor working class family, she grew up in hard times. Her father was a factory worker, and her mother an administrator in a small office. Money was tight for all of her life, and most of the family's funds went towards caring for their daughter and paying rent for their small city apartment. Kirie grew up with a passion for nature, and loved their rare family holidays to the mountains outside the city. At age 5, Kirie began to lose her hearing, and by age 7, she was profoundly deaf, unable to hear anything at all. With the loss of her hearing, she adopted the language of Galactic Basic Sign Language (GBSL.)
At age 20, she left her home on Balmorra, seeking employment in the wider Galaxy. For some time she was unemployed, and lived on what she could scrounge up to survive. Eventually, after almost a year away from home, she found work as a PA on a research ship in the unknown regions. At age 21 she was recruited into the Commenor Systems Alliance, working the the royal family and its advisors as Personal Assistant to Queen Lady Kay. Following the Incursion incident, and her subsequent recovery from the influence of the Controlled Ones, Kirie left the Systems Alliance, becoming Padawan of the Trade Council Order in the Mara-Perlemian Trade Council, based on Centares.
However, life as a Jedi was not for her, and the Council Order's sudden jump into conflict with the Sith threw her life off balance. Following a failed uprising on Jaminere Kirie left the MPTC and its rebel cell for good, being thrown out into the Galaxy once more, with nowhere left for her to go.
Following her departure from the MPTC, Kirie served for a time on ships venturing into the farthest reaches and most remote areas of the Galaxy, finding a passion for navigation, exploration, and the sciences. Under the tutelage of the late Captain Kit Caraway, Kirie learned all she needed to become a capable spacer and a captain in her own right. For the years between 854 and 858, she ran cargo, explored anomalies in deep space, or patrolled remote sectors for various Galactic institutions and governments, gaining a modest reputation as a diligent and hardworking captain, well-suited for research missions and forays into the depths of edges of the Galaxy.
In those years, Kirie grew increasingly solitary, rarely seeking the company of others and often spending many months without any contact with other sentients. She grew to love the vast emptiness of space, and in her time doing odd-jobs, she continued to privately explore her connection to the Force. Slowly, over the course of years, Kirie began to become adept at simple Force abilities, particularly those which assisted her in sensing danger, or the temperament of others. However, without training her development has been limited, and in many ways her innate understanding of the Force is less than that of even your average Jedi Padawan.
Though previously Kirie considered herself a pacifist. Years as a spacer had hardened her attitude to the Galaxy as a whole. She came to understand that one sometimes must step up and defend themselves or those that are too weak to fight. Though disapproving of war and violence as a whole, Kirie herself learned to be prepared to face challenges head-on.
