Maia Halos
Character
Maia had long ago gotten used to the cold of Bastion. The Capital of the Sith Empire was neither welcoming nor forgiving, and as she shifted around her small apartment, she would pause occasionally to gaze out the window on the grey day beyond.
[member="Byron Flint"] had been assigned a room of his own in the main training building. When she had been taken as an apprentice, she had been brought to live with her Master, but she had been a child and her master's home had been spacious. An already well established Sith, with all of the trappings that came with it- both the good and the bad. As a newly minted Knight, Maia did not have that luxury. She could have remained with her master, that choice had been given. But she had decided to take the smaller but freer option of her own apartment, provided by the Empire for her service, over the watchful and amused eye of the elder Sith.
It wasn't hers. Really, in its way, not a single thing she had was.
No, that wasn't true.
Byron was.
Her lips twisted slightly into something that in no way resembled a smile.
She had thought, in her years training as an apprentice, that when she reached her full knighthood, she would begin to climb that ladder. To make her own mark. But instead it was really much the same as it was before, only now she was responsible for her own meals and clothing.
Deliberate, she suspected.
Another weeding out process in its own way.
A knock on her door interrupted her musings. Maia frowned. She had specifically told Byron to NOT come to training today. And even then, he did not belong at the door of her apartment. But she reached out, a brush with the Force, as she approached the door. A flicker of surprise crossed her face when she realized that it wasn't Byron at all on the other side.
The woman heard the click of the lock, and the door opened. Dressed in a long, sleeveless tunic, Maia couldn't hide the surprise in her tone as she greeted her.
"Evelynn."
She hadn't realized the other woman even knew where she lived. But then, she was a Zambrano, she thought dryly, probably not a difficulty getting that information.
"Please come in."
Stepping to the side, she glanced over Eve's shoulder for her keeper.
