The much grown Kohta rice is for the Atrisian people as common as wheat and many of their other food stuffs. It is something they can store for long periods of time and with improvements in technology it has been given even more of a shelf life that gives it a value to the colonies and as a crop they can trade with otherswho need food. The recent improvements to farming and development of secured areas allow them to farm and cultivate it in larger and larger quantities that can sell off to other worlds in need of foodstuffs.
Donations to other planets that require aid and sharing their farming technologies. Overall the largest part of what they have been working on has been pushing towards the rice and different wheat being highly valued within the Commonwealth. Through the years, the rice has been worked on by Atrisia with the help of Sasori who sells it offworld. The rice has been modified to better store and be able to be preserved after it is cooked before degrading.
The work that has been done for it makes it also a massive crop that can be sold to other worlds trying to recover as it provides nutritional value, can be grown anywhere and stored for longer periods of time. The work of the engineers have poured into it allowing the Commonwealth to better improve it for use and the people can grow it as well as different types.
