STRENGTHS

Surgical Droid - Each Kolto-class Shuttle comes equipped with a 2-1B Surgical Droid to assist in stabilizing critical patients and providing assistance to the onboard medics when caring for patients on the shuttle as well as handling triage duties as patients are loaded into the shuttle.

Bacta Tanks -True to its classification, the craft is equipped with two Bacta Tanks that are utilized in providing care for intensive cases that require immediate medical attention. The shuttle is also equipped with two Kolto Tanks for less intensive cases that still require immediate or moderate medical attention.

WEAKNESSES

Unarmed - The Kolto-class Shuttle is a medical shuttle and as such it lacks any kind of offensive armaments.

Sublight Drive Systems - Located in two nacelle-like structures that jut out from the aft of the vessel, the primary drive systems of the shuttle are relatively exposed and easily accessible. Damage to these systems has the potential of crippling the vessel, rendering it dead in the water and incapable of further propulsion.

DESCRIPTION

With life and death decided in mere seconds, the means to ensure that an individual receives the medical care they require is paramount. Reaching an individual in critical condition and pulling them back from the brink while also rapidly transporting them to a waiting Medical Frigate is the sole purpose of the Kolto-class Shuttle. Designed to provide a rapid medical response that can be deployed both in combat situations as well as civilian situations, the Kolto-class Shuttle is equipped with a 2-1B Surgical Droid that assists the onboard medics in patient triage and care as they are transported to an appropriate medical facility. Each Shuttle is equipped with two Bacta Tanks that are often used to care for those critical patients that require immediate medical attention; with an additional two Kolto Tanks available for less intensive cases that still require immediate or moderate medical attention. As the shuttle was designed to provide a medical response, it lacks any form of offensive weaponry and is completely unarmed, often relying more on its heavier defensive capabilities as well as its status as a medical vessel to protect itself from attack. An unintended design flaw can be seen in the location of the vessel's primary sublight drive systems, housed in two nacelle-like structures aft of the vessel. These systems are easily accessible, with damage to them having the potential to cripple the vessel and render it inoperable. The true strength of the Kolto-class comes from its capability to carry a high number of patients as well as being deployed in larger numbers than a standard squadron count. The Conflict that grips the Galaxy will not be experienced by the military alone, as just as many civilians will feel the impact when their worlds are attacked or targeted for military strikes. The means to ensure that both soldiers and civilians can receive the help they need is the purpose of the creation of the Kolto-class Shuttle. A Support craft that can provide moderate medical care for patients as they are rapidly recovered and delivered to waiting Medical Frigates or more sophisticated medical facilities planetside.
